My experience, if the ID firm is big with some reputation (CASE, HDB registered etc), you may get it solved by complaining to CASE and HDB. If it is a rogue you encountered, it would close the company, then it's too bad for we customers - long term tussle or no hope to get anything back/anything done.

Hi,

I am looking for a contractor to do the remaining touch up work which my current contractor didn't complete it.

I try to call by current contractor but he keep giving empty promise and didn't turn up to finish the uncompleted work.

I already pay him all the $$$ in the contract. <img src="http://www.renotalk.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Please help... I really regret giving him all the payments.

Hi LinaLee,

I got the same experience with this Yi-Vogue which was introduced by my property agent. However, I keep calling DERRICK everyday. SMS him. I raised my voice a few times to make him get things done. Maybe you can ask your husband or family member to help you. However, there is still some outstanding like kitchen floor is yet to have chemical wash... full of paint mark? Can you imagine how a ID hand over your house without doing chemical-wash when this is in the contract? Is my luck since I need to move in fast during the CNY period.

His coordination work with his contractors is really bad.... I wonder how he can still survive in this line.

I guess there are more peoples which engage his service. I hope more victim will share his/her experience here to give warning to those whose want to use this ID.

Thanks.

I'd like to say, compared to my case, yours are not that worse, though it is still very frustrating. mentioned it before My ID was from Design Street Pte Ltd (Director: Stiff Lee, ID Ben.son Koh), delayed for 4 months without completion, with many excuses. I thought if they could get it done, I would take it, even it is a bit longer. But now it becomes gone case. I went to CASE and the small claim tribunal to claim against them. They did not even bother to attend the consultancy at the SCT. The original company name was called BudgetReno Consultancy. This time, I suspect they are going to create a new name again. For your cautiousness.

hi ppl, i am facing similar situation, i have alot defects in the house, like hollow tiles (despite re-work , still hollow - u drop a pen u can hear the difference). and my laminated carpentry have flaws, blemishes and cracks etc. my ID only tell me the disadvantages of re-doing , so he advised me against it. its a painful decision to accept. he refuse to compensate in anyway. if i am still unsatisfied with his defect rectification, can i not pay him all the balance 10%? what rights do i have? i wish to just stop all the defect rectification because he does not improve the defects, its just a waste of my time. its a case trusted company, but he tell me that even if i go case, these are acceptable reworks. who can i trust? i really not willing to pay him for substandard works, but on the other hand if i dun pay to him, will my warranty be voided?? does any one have any experiences to share?

never ever pay up in full even if work is 100% completed and handed over

leave a 10% balance to be payable 1month after the handover - for rectification works

upfront, just pay 10% for designs and drawings

the other 80% can be split into stages during the reno proper

eg 40% upon completion of hacking, wet works, flooring, and the other 40% upon completion of carpentry, glass works, etc

Yes, You are right. Is my greatest mistake in my life now.

I hope my experience will serve as a warning to the rest of the forumers here.

Even CASE, police, MP won't help much in renovation work.

Is the laws protecting us as a consumers or this kind of renovation company which keep change their name to cheat us money....

But we may be charged interest or be issued letter if dun pay to the ID the last payment right? btw LinaLee, are those final touch up that your ID didnt finish very very big issues? care to share some details insights into the works u mentioned earlier? I have paid to my ID the full sum as well.. though they did come to rectify what I mention as defects/ touch up, but the hollow tiles are 'salvaged with bonding chemicals' as much as possible only. no extended warranty or whatsoever, i just have to accept it.

It is not very big issue. Basically I already move-in to stay. Things like powerpoint not fixed up, lighting is missing. floor still got alot of paint mark which need chemical wash lor..
