Chalkboard

Recommended Posts

Hihi

Anyone knows where can we customise a chalkboard? I'll like to do at at the side of my tall cabinet... can write nice things or things to cook for the day... :)

Went to Art friend but they only have small size. Any idea can get from any DIY shop?

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

If i remember correctly, Art friend is selling the chalkboard paint/spray, which you can apply it to your cabinet

Most likely ur cabinet is laminated? In that case, u have to apply a primer first, also available in art fren.

After letting it cure, then paint with chalkboard paint.

Not a difficult process, just thats its irreversible. :)

oh the plywood at art fren is cut throat la.

do google for Ban Heng Leong (my new found favourite place for wood supply).

they cut wood on the spot for u. Boss is friendly.

Spotlight also carries chalkboard paint, but variety is wider at art frens.

Now they have chalkboard paint in many colours as well.

they have wood in many shapes and sizes. :)

plywood have many thickness, i also bought solid wood there before (not sure what species though).

cut one piece not a problem at all, they serve retail customers & contractors.

went there 2weeks in a row and the boss recognised me... but the real reason for going there was to go there for food, then happen to drop by... :P

i was looking around for chalkboards too... then i found the paints in those DIY shops. Small corner where you can find wood varnish cans and stuff. It's a very small tin of chalk board paints.

DIY shops like those in the shopping malls. Might be pricey but it's convenient to grab and go, especially if you are looking at just painting a portion.

Primer wise - best to ask the shop people. they sell it, they should be able to recommend. Ask questions on the various type of primer and the benefits - then go shop in those paint stores for cheaper alternatives...becuase those uncles in the paint shop are kinda lazy to explain. lol~

Can also buy chalkpaper.

Chalkboard paint might be irreversible.

But if you buy a cheap piece of wood or plastic, you can paste the chalkboard paper and mount over (with strong tape/hook) wherever you want.

Next time when you are sick of looking at it, just throw away the whole thing.
