Is Castilla A Reputable/reliable Brand For Sofas?

Recommended Posts

I still can't get over the fact that my metal bases are rusty,

the threads have already broken and come loose,

there are visible cuts that puncture the leather,

and the non-contact portions of the leather is so rough and bad compared to the sitting/contact portion of the leather...

Based on the existing knowledge of leather I have learnt, I feel the most I am getting is Top Grain leather (NOT SURE if it's even cowhide) for the contact portions, and Split leather for all the non-contact ones.... :furious: :furious: :curse: :curse:

I feel your frustration, Bro. I am sure it is 100% top grain cow hide leather for the seating portions but strongly suspect it is split leather for the non seating portions. It seems that the quality of the display set that both you and I saw at the showroom is of a much better quality than what was delivered to you.

If I am not mistaken, they can only test the mechanical parts because they are not leather specialists and would not have the expertise or right equipment to test leather quality so they may have to outsource the testing of leather. I am not sure about the costs but in my case where I needed their certification, it cost me a few hundred dollars per product test.

They did not state anything specific about leather, but I have taken the time to ask them, just to be sure. At least it's local and faster, if they do provide this service.

Castilla better do what needs to be done to make Bro Musingaway happy and to do it fast or else we should all help keep this thread alive and shame Castilla for not living up to our expectations and their reputation. It is totally unacceptable that the stitching have broken barely a week after delivery and that there are cuts on the leather surface. They ought to be 8| for it.

Musingaway,

For leather testing, I suggest you call up CASE to check. They should be able to refer u to a leather testing party. Give it a try. good luck.

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep it in mind. Hopefully my case does not have to go the legal route. But I am still not getting exactly what I expected when I bought the sofa. They are squirming out of honoring the sales contract.

We bought a set of sofa + ottoman from Castilla. I remembered being very worried about getting a defective sofa upon delivery, with all the scary reviews from so many other furniture shops. 6 years on, the sofa is seasoned, strong and fine. This is with 2 growing children jumping and playing on it, a husband who naps on it devotedly and none maintaneous (Except for the first 2 years of cleaning with leather cleaner.)

The sofa is made with calf skin and indeed, we do not feel warm even when we sit on it for long hours. I'll just say that Castilla is definitely one of the first few furniture shop I'm checking out when I buy my next piece of furniture very soon.
