Toilet : Replacement Cost

Recommended Posts

My old (HDB provided) Potex toilet recently started leaking. Usually, the tank refill should stop once it's full. But it doesn't --> waste water. So i had a guy replace the insides of it (the flushing mechanism inside the tank).

He charged $125 for the parts and service charge.

Do you think it's a reasonable price?

If it is not, i'll go to a different guy next time. :)

The parts inside are not that ex actually, estimate cost around $80+ can get.

(from hardware shop)

1)provided you know what parts spoil.

2)you got the tools to change urself.

3)dont mind doing the dirty job.

If not,i tink $125 is alittle bit high. :yamseng:

Thanks man.

Unfortunately i don't have the tools, so had to rely on the guy.

So probably $45 for the service alone. Is that considered pricey?

$45 is not just the service, it also include transport. dirty / wet job, using of tools.

Turn the table.

If you will him, how much you expect ppl to pay for your transportation , tools and your skill

If i were him... don't know how to answer that.

The value of 20 mins of my time & skill is different from my boss's, or my neighbor's.

I'm not a handyman, that's why i'm "researching" on the market price for such service :)

Judging from your post, i suppose you believe $45 = fair. Thanks bro! :)

in the end, imho,i think the most importantly is how you feel(coz you are the one paying)

If job well done, everything swee swee..then just spend it(provided the price isnt too insane la)

Its beta to get someone who know what to do rather than ownself trying to figure things out.

**dont think so much le,the price you pay is of a normal market rate :yamseng:

As long as he do a good job and don't charge me a price that my spec will drop. Basically I'm ok.
