Project Punggol Breeze

Recommended Posts

Hi, may I know where did you buy the alphabets D & J? I want to customise such letters for display. Thanks in advance

Hi the letters are from Typo. 3 for $10. I think they come in white and black. We spray painted them teal. :)

As for the post-reno cleaning, I engaged Home Cleanz in the end. There were about five men who came to clean my house. They took about 3hrs to finish the job and it cost me $350. I would say they did a pretty good job. But my area just gets dusty very easily because of all the construction and renovation works going on around us. Still, I don't regret getting help to do the first round of cleaning. It makes the cleaning later on easier. :)

Hey thanks for liking our place. I'm sure when others look at your place, they'll think it's great too :) In fact, many times, when we look at other people's houses, we wonder why we didn't do our house in the same way. But home improvement is an ongoing process, which is why we enjoy seeing what others do with their homes. Opens up the mind to possibilities!

Cool, you are getting the papa armchair? Where from? We struggle a lot with colour coordination too, I think it's the hardest part of the reno. We'll be happy to give you our humble opinion but it's a little hard to visualize how your space looks like now. Share a picture? :)

Hi Paloma, can I PM you instead? you can't receive new messages :(

Actually I called up ahma on wheels and several other reputable ones and the price was all around $350-$400 for 4-room flat. Yeah I know it sounds pricey but I was quite impressed that they came with so many workers and the service was good.

Paloma, I really love your place, it looks fantastic. Great choices of furniture at your place. My place will be somewhere along this theme and style too, but nowhere near to what I'm seeing on everyone elses' blog here in RT ! So envious !

Btw, can I ask you a favour for some feedback - I have a 3-seater which is mocca brown in color, and possibly an armchair in yellow, what color fabric of Papa bear armchair should I be looking at? Flooring is dark brown (walnut) hardwood flr, and walls and wall cabinet will be white. We were thinking of "Orange" just to zest things up ! Didn't want "red" for fear of the ketchup and mustard combo, like fast food chain, and didn't want "green" either. We thought "blue" might seem a little out of place.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have !

Hey BC, your house is so spacious! :) Wish we had so much space!

Actually it's difficult for me to say what colour will suit your home as you will know your home's colour palette best. But I took a look at your photos, if you are looking for a pop of colour, perhaps a teal chair might work? it goes well with yellow. Personally, I don't think orange looks good on the papa chair. Then again, I'm biased cos I love teal! :)

You could also consider the same colour fabric as mine but I'm not sure if it's too dark for your house as you mentioned that your floors will be stained dark brown.

Hope this helps! :)

Hi Paloma,

Thanks ! The extra space comes with a hefty price though, but we are really thankful for the journey my family went through to get this place. It was really unexpected for us, and thus, everything happened in a whirlwind. Yes, teal was part of the consideration, but I have yet to find a really nice teal fabric for the papa chair. It has a somewhat retro feel to it yeah? Well, I'm bias to Orange too, esp. Pantone 1448 (Hermes Orange) :)

I will do a little more color matching I guess, but am thinking your blue may be a tad dark for my floor, the walnut staining is finally done, and I'm loving it, but will find the blue too dark along with my mocca 3-seater.

Your brick wall is so nice, cos red is my all-time favorite color ! I wanted red walls but my mum wouldn't hear or have any of it ... so mission aborted !

I wanted something of this tone ...

Orange is very retro too. :) Since you like the colour, you should go for it! Yeah I think dark blue will be too dull for your house.

I read that you were considering this yellow scallop chair? Where did you see that?

Actually, I was very hesitant to have the brick wall in red initially. We only decided to go with it when we saw the colour at the tile shop. And even then, it was my husband who thought it'll work. In the end, he made a good choice because the wall does add more warmth and depth to our home. We love looking at it and that corner is now one of our favourite. :)

Have you moved into your new home yet? It looks like it's quite completed.

Hi Paloma, thank you for all your suggestions! I was still thinking of the Orange and yellow combo, and now I'm thinking "Lemon and Oranges" hahaha ... so we shall see what works best eventually. We will be doing the big move next Thu 28/6, as we need to hand over the keys of existing place to new owner on 2 July. The reno is more or less completed, but there are some finishing touches that the ID and the relevant contractors are putting. Next week will be overdrive, every day there is an activity planned, on some days there coule be 2 or 3 overlapping tasks. Actually, the place will still not be 100% completed by the time we move in, furniture not in yet, my kitchen tap won't be delivered still, but we will just have to make do with it for a few days or weeks and slowly wait for all the purchases to get delivered. At this rate, I am shooting for 1 Sep for everything to be done up (no kidding!)

i suddenly realised how come you don't have tv? you don't watch tv ah..haha.

hahaah... i realised that too and asked the question before. you look at page 3, post #99. she said that they will concentrate on the books, not tv. so they didn't buy a tv.

hi paloma

I have some thing urgent to check with you, for the white brick wall, did your contractor use white cement for grouting? and also did he paint over it later or no painting of the brick wall was done? I realised my ID did the brick wall wrongly I think.. my ID use normal cement and is planning to paint over the whole wall with white paint, so it won't be able to have the raw look that I wanted... :( Pls let me know urgently so that I can ask my ID to rectify. thanks!
