🐶 Westie's Home 🐶

After months of relentless hunting, we finally found our ideal home!

Living near to Jurong West where we work is of paramount importance to us. Time is money and must never be wasted on commuting to and fro from work.

We realized that a bulk of EMs in Jurong West is situated near expressways. The air quality and noise level are unbearable for us, at least.

High floor, unblocked 5m by 1.7m balcony view with a park, windy fresh air, away from multi-storey carpark and distance from nearby roads.

This unit ticks all the boxes and so our story begins...

The next phase naturally was to look for a ID. In my opinion, I don't need one. Had always felt it was more for ppl who r pretty clueless about wat they actually wan.

Fairly akin to getting a sportscar and letting a garage modify for u. Makes no sense as ultimately i am the owner and am going drive it on a daily basis.

To cut a long story short, I eventually settled on a contractor, namely Lien Lien Interior located along Ang Mo Kio Ave 10. I knew specifically what I wanted for my unit and felt very comfortable with Uncle Benny, the person In charge. After some meaningful discussion, the plan and design were formulated with great anticipation. Well, shall keep our fingers crossed and see how things turn out...

Sneak peek of the unit. It really defines the "as it is" condition. But not for long. It was a no brainer - everything has to go. We decided to hack and tear down everything. So yes, it can b considered a fairly extensive overhaul. How it's gonna turn out is anyone's guess. One thing's for sure: this is becoming such an interesting, fun and enjoyable process for us!

Congrats to u! I m sure if u and your contractor has that right chemistry, he will be able to execute your plan in overhauling your EM. Your current condition looks quite well maintained. Are u hacking off everything including the flooring?

Day 1

The hacking commences.

Entire flooring hacked. Toilets & kitchen wall tiles gone as well. More hacking work tomorrow. Quite pleased overall.

Dust plus noise - felt bad for the neighbors but it's not like I have much of a choice.

More hacking work to be continued ...

Thanks! This is really the dream house for us. i mean everyone dream of a big bungalow, but this was what was realistic and affordable for us. Yup, the location plus high floor was the main draw for us. The park and lush greenery below r the icing on the cake. Seeing the hacking of entire house was a great feeling. Kinda of unsure feeling yet anticipating how everything will turn out.

Popped by and was surprised to see 6 workers still working hard on a Sunday. Decided to pack some curry puffs for them nearby. Chatted with them and they commented the unit was very breezy.

We had lot of demands including a tight timeline. We are not rushing for CNY but need to shift in by early March. Our contractor, Benny was steady annd quick in co-ordinating certain details which we ourselves overlooked. Things are slowly shaping up and hopefully, it will be a smooth journey!

Day 2-5
