Kitchen Countertop Sq Feet Cost Calculation

Recommended Posts

I'm about to redo my flat's kitchen and would like to know how the kitchen countertop's area is calculated. Basically, my current countertop is a 13x2 (26 square tiles) long rectangular configuration. Each square tile as I measured, is exactly 1ft x 1ft, i.e. 1 sq ft.

The part that confuses me are the cut out areas where you put the sink and stove. Will these areas which will eventually be cut out, be still included within a contractor's material cost calculation?
