pardon me drk1946. Why is vinyl not suitable for home use? care to explain more? I plan to install vinyl in my home because they are waterproof and easier to take care than laminate. And as far as my research goes, laminate are nvr waterproof, they are just water resistance. care to pm me the info for the waterproof laminate flooring too? Thanks.

A google advert search, list up the product as waterproof laminate floors, albeit it's vinyl/resilient flooring still.Have not heard of a waterproof laminate floor before,it's a little bit misleading for netizens point of view.It must due to the popularity of laminate floors I guess but all in all it's still misleading.

what i can say is, if it is dangerous for residential use, it will not be approved for use in SG knowing how strict BCA and govt is.

oh, by the way, i hope you don't use mobile phones or microwave ovens. there's dangerous radiation emitted from these devices which may harm your family.

My contractor is offering me resilient veneer floor tiles (low maintenance and waterproof). Anyone has used this before? Is it common the contractor doesn't just provide the overall cost but not psf?

Actually there is WATERPROOF LAMINATE, and not vinyl, but don't expect to pay the usual laminate price for it. If budget is an issue and you can barely afford to install laminate flooring, my advice is don't, though I'm selling laminate flooring, I will still advice against it. I dislike selling lower tier laminate, hence my product are not a little expensive, but a lot more. This includes the waterproof laminate, not vinyl.

If budget is an issue, go for Vinyl (i don't sell), its durable and easy to maintain, not to mention cheap. But if you've ever walked on vinyl, laminate, and parquet, you will definitely love parquet, followed by laminate and hate vinyl.

Also, vinyl is usually used in commercial areas where we don't walk bare-feet, so I'm not sure whats the implication will be. However, rumors are just rumors, I don't think installing vinyl will bring much of a problem to residential areas.

Cheers,

Sheridan

Hi Hi everyone! I'm new here.... going to begin my reno during the 2nd week of June. I just got a quote from Evorich today... It's $6.50 per sq foot for their HERF... The sales guy only promote HERF even though I am more interested in laminate flooring and my other half is interested in engineered wood.

Anyone got a price quote for Inovar Laminate or any other company's price? Thank you thank you!

These vinyl click on floors are commodities product, going rates are at $4 plus psf.The price being quoted are rather hefty I would say for similar formed products circulating all over the internet.Plus it comes with the baggage of arguments of toxic rubber smell, etc. We sure do not need a vinyl MERS to develop here,i'll say.
