Recommended Posts

See how it goes; will reveal later or in pm.

I still hope my reno will turn out ok.

I have paid $52k in two payments when I signed my contract and when hacking started.

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

Yup,

I will call HBay tomorrow; give them sometime to read my email.

Thanks for the advises; I really need them.

And luck ... yes I need that too !!

Good to hear that a third party is involved. Especially one which involves his peers and other professionals in his industry.

Maybe have the meeting with HBay and your ID in your place? Get HBay to review the works that have been completed to date and compare with quotation/scope of works/timelines. See if HBay thinks it's reasonable and within industry expectation 1. the amount of works done over this period of time 2. to ask for additional payment at this stage?

And also privately ask HBay to speak to your ID to find out what is the underlying issue - and get HBay to tell you so you can make a better decision.

Good luck!!

I hope you can resolve your issue with ID soon. Dec is the time where sub-contractors will "slow-down" and by Jan, its CNY mood.

With 52k upfront to your ID and only hacking and some pipings done.....its quite obvious he is facing cash flow problem.

No problem! Thats what renotalk is here for.

Some advice also - don't be adversarial with this ID. He already has your money and you have very little recourse in getting it back.

Just apply pressure gently to make sure he cooperates. 52k is no joke!!

Hi,

I have no choice but to terminate this cheat.

My loss beside monetary of about $20k,

I also loss time and will not be able to move in, in time.

My current rental may have to extend.

When I told my ID I want to terminate due to him breaching the contract;

He told me I need to top up!!!

I have asked another credited contractor to check his progress,

This contractor said nothing much have been done beside hacking which is not completed,

And plumbing, and some plastering.

Also I just found out that the tiles in my place is not the complete set.

So guys, be afraid, be very afraid of ID from ****....!

Take note!

Beware:

Really only hacking done. He just managed to hire some Bangla for a few days with ur 20k to do hacking. Sad.

Suggest to terminate the contract in writing. Send all the pics as attachment as evidence that unable to deliver the milestones as per contract. If you add date into the pictures, even better.

Hope your next contractor will be able to do a good job!

Latest updates:

ID asked me to give him final chance;

And agreed to do first, then he will ask for payment.

Also agreed to sign new agreement.

So I give him another chance yet again.

I will give complement on work well done;

And criticize on work badly done.

Now crossing my eyes, if he can handover my place in time which he promised again and again.

Below latest update of the tiling done....

Oh dear....sad to hear about the mishap of the reno but I am sure the result will be good at the end.

I am sure you are after the "bucket of gold" at the end of the "rainbow". Rainbow as your home, bucket of gold as the love, warmth and happiness.

Tough luck will be over soon. I had a very bad experience with my renovation too...back in 5 years ago and it got me really depressed and cash tight. Wedding+Home+Loan all the same time....contractor promised the sky and deliver the defects. Hang on!
