4Rm Bto At The West ~ Humble Nest

Recommended Posts

Hi any reviews of this hood ? I am considering and rinnai is from Japan right? Not Singapore

oh yeah~ my hob, hood, oven and 2 x toilet sinks are here~ ID took in the stock for me as i was not available. All in place and in order.

entire batch above is bought from asiaexcel imm.

1 x hob (RB-3SS GB)

1 x hood (RH-C779-SB)

1 x oven (RBO-5CSI)

2 x toilet sinks (48x48cm)

why rinnai? i trust singapore brand.. wahaha. but anyway, it's still made in china. plus the other brands dont really suit my likings in terms of looks, function, size and feel. i typically chose a further left side burner to cater for big woks or pots.

and why tempered glass hob? initially going for stainless steel, to cut costs and can abuse without fear of cracking and smashing. but surprisingly, the costs difference with tempered glass is too minimal, plus the scratches... can be really really ugly and scary. in the end.. chose tempered glass instead, irregardless, still is nicer.. but cannot abuse it like how you 'teppanyaki' compared to stainless steel ones. treat it with care

service from asiaexcel is so far so good. delivery on promise. and willing to share info and give tips while at shop.

oh is it? oops.. i didnt know. i kept thinking it's local brand. ha. but so far so good with all their products. feel solid and capable. hood is powerful and not noisy. it has a compartment to capture accumulated oil which u can take out and wash also.

becareful of the total height though.it is shorter than the normal chimney hood.

and my hood... A FLOATING HOOD?! seriously.. this is what ticks me off :angry2: . the weirdest thing i ever seen in my whole life. a chimney hood is called a chimney hood because it connects to the top... why would such thing happen.

first, it might be asiaexcel missed out one more piece... which obviously who in the world will know because instructions and manual parts are all written clearly its in place. second, the distance from the hood and hob is just nice, so the gap is a mystery. Since it's already up and the distance from hob is just nice, my ID suggested to put a false box to cover the gap. which i'm totally ok with it... i'm not sure if he is gonna charge me for this, but if i were him, i would use the extra leftover parts from the the living room where some rectifications were done and a huge chunk of the false ceiling were dismantled. maybe all disposed liao.. sigh... :dunno:

Actually, a "floating" hood is not uncommon. Where the ceiling is not low, many chimneys cannot extend all the way from the hood to the ceiling.

However, for all my previous purchases of similar hoods, the chimney is telescopic. In your case, there is definitely another piece for you to extend to cover the duct out portion. It cannot be that that part is exposed. It is almost impossible for your ID to fabricate the extension. Most likely, this part was left out or maybe it is an option. I saw the extension in the product catalogue.

let me try to get a pic soon. sorry not replying soon enough, was really busy packing things into boxes and moving in. tough job! haha.

but from what i observed and during the checks.. there are no chipping off or anything on my glass... glass chipping does sound bad and wrong in my opinion.

Not really chip off but the cutting of the edge is not that perfect? The delivery man for my sofa told me is acceptable cos normally contractor will leave some gap.

yeap it comes with an extension. but if you see the overall height of the product, itself is shorter by 10cm (with the extension) compared to most. and if i were to use that extension to reach the ceiling, my hood and hob distance is going to reach 86cm-87cm. too far for the hood to work efficiently, as the product manual says 70cm is the max from hob to hood. i'm at 76cm already by the way and just normal stir frying, i have to use medium power at least to have adequate effect. if low power, no use, living room and walkway can smell what's cookin'

Have u tried it on? I find that the bottom part like super thick! But seemed that this is the only model with the touch screen buttons... I love touch screen. :) there is another sleek looking model from fisher and pakyel ... Then again they are not specialist on hoods... So maybe not....
