I'm guessing, taobao is gonna be ur good friend for all the beach theme accessories

U are right! :D

Have already been looking at Taobao to see what are the things that we can buy. But I am still indecisive about which agent to choose from and how to calculate shipment costs.... :dunno:

What a busy weekend!! :jawdrop:

Was rushing from one point to another these few days from meeting friends to meeting up with Alan. Only now do I have time to update my t-blog...

Anyway, what had happened these few days was WX received a call from HDB on Saturday morning asking us if it is fine for them to start doing the cement screed. We were surprised by the request as we were expecting to wait for at least 3-4 weeks. We only applied for the cement screed about 10 days ago. HDB told WX that their schedule is actually very packed but they happened to have a slot for us, and if we agree, they will start work immediately..Of course we said Yes! :D

So WX quickly called Kenneth (Staff from Evorich that we signed our flooring with) to liaise with HDB about the thickness of the cement screed that they should do. As we had an appointment with Alan at our house on the same day, we were able to see the commencement of the cement work and at the same time, confirm with Alan on certain details of our renovation work so that he can apply permit.

The workers were moving sand to our house when we arrived that day.

Alan was already there when the workers were moving the sand up to our unit. According to Alan, the cost for cement screed will increase starting from 1 Dec 2014, as sand is no longer allowed to be used for cement screeding, so cost will go up as more cement will be used for cement screeding. Not sure if HDB will start charging for cement screeding after 1 Dec.

Back to our reno discussion with Alan that day... we had confirmed on the length of the wall to be hacked between the living room and bedroom 3, the overall layout of the house, and the work to be done at various points of the house. Though all these had been brought up and written on the final quotation, Alan's working style is such that he will confirm the work, design, measurement etc. with us again at the actual spot before any commencement of work. He told us that in order to minimise hiccups, he hopes that we will also make it a point to go down to our place and confirm the work when he requests for us to meet. I find his request to be fair enough, just hope that hiccups can really be minimised in this way.

After our meet up with Alan yesterday, I spent my whole day at home today working out the electrical points and amending the drawings that WX did for our home design. Need to complete them soon so that we can send them to Alan. As we are engaging a contractor, there are no 3D drawings and so we could only imagine and hope that everything turns up fine. The best we can do to visualise our ideas is to draw our concepts out using 'Paint' in Microsoft and hopefully Alan will have a clearer picture of what we want after looking at the pictures. :paint: I will share the pictures once we have finalised them. So stay tuned!!

For the electrical points, this is what I have come up with. Do let me know if I have missed out anything! :)

Hihi saw your blog, love the design of your tv feature wall! Haha.

Blue is actually my HTB's fav colour. My fav colour is green, so we are thinking of having elements of blue-green (turquoise) and blue in the house as these 2 colours fit in to beach theme. :thumbs up:

Yup, I have seen Xia Xue's blog and likes the beach feel of her house. Hope mine will have that kind of feel too! :D

WX received an sms notification from HDB on Monday, informing us that Alan has submitted the request for HDB permit for our flat. What we can do now is to wait for the permit to be approved... Hope it wont take too long...

Went alone to our house to see if the cement screed is ready. WX will be overseas for work trip till the end of Sept.. that means I will have to handle all the reno matters myself... :help:

So I went up to our unit, opened the door, and this is what I saw...

I think the work done is ok, considering that it is FOC. As requested by Kenneth (the sales officer for Evorich flooring), they did leave a 5mm difference in height between the bathroom tiles and passageway, and no height difference between kitchen tiles and living room as we intend to lay HERF in the kitchen too.

Between bathroom and passageway

Basically, I dont have much to complain about the cement work except for this...

There is a lump of cement sticking out on the floor between the kitchen and living room.

Does anyone know how to remove it?

Or should I get HDB to come and remove?

Will it affect the HERF when placed on it?

:o :o :o :o :o :o

It's best to get the HDB contractor to remove it as it was their work. This will minimise any unforeseen arguments in the future. Although I don't think it's a very big deal, should be removed in no time.
