Can I Use Sand Paper To Smooth An Old Wood?

i had a very old cabinet wood.

i want to remove the lamination and smooth the wood surface.. if dont have the sand machine , i use sand paper can a not?

You can remove the lamination if it is peeling off. But usually laminated wood are those plywood, or grain wood. After sanding, are you going to re-laminate? I believe you re-laminate, the side are more difficult to do. But with patience, you can....

Unless the tree which that piece of wood came from is extinct... otherwise, I think what you are trying to do is not worth it at all. Laminate can be peal off but they cannot be peal off perfectly. You will definitely need a sanding machine. No chance with sand paper and arm power.
