Points To Note When Hacking Off Walls

Hello

Am new to this forum and have just got a 4 room resale flat. Looking at renovations at the moment and will like to know if there are any pros and cons when it comes to hacking off the storeroom walls as part of renovation. One of the ID firm suggested hacking off the existing store room (old flat, thus not civil defense shelter type) and relocating that elsewhere, opening up the flat. Does anyone here have experience or planning to do something like that? What must one look out for before making that choice?
