Home-Internet , Opennet Location And Study Room And Internet Provider

Recommended Posts

Hello peeps,

My house is currently under renovation, new BTO flat.

My OpenNet is located just beside my maindoor together with the power box

1) I am thinking of relocating the OpenNet box to my 2nd room aka Study room. Other than spending the $200 relocation fees, anyone tried Wall Plug, Trunking or Wiring?

Or is there any other way which i can place my modem and router inside my study room?

Reason for this is because im afraid the limitation of the wifi signal cannot cover the whole house or worst still cannot even reach my study room with 2 computer and laptop or master room.

2) Anyone have difficulties or wifi limitation and cannot receive up to 4 bars of wifi coverage at their master room and 2 bed rooms becuz of the walls etc blocking the wifi signal.

For people staying at north, any problems with the providers? Becuz on my side, whenever i go to my new house, my Singtel signal is always not 4G.

Hi,

I am also having the same problem as you in which wonder how am I going to place the Modem, Wireless Router & the telephone.

Did you try to box up with some customised carpentry work?

Paying $200 to relocate but there there would be trunking sticking out which makes the house not nice at all.

actually your router is best to put in a ventilated area instead of fully enclosed. U can check for the operating temp of the devices.

Yr wifi signal will be weaker if u put in a cabinet. It is also dependable on how powerful the router is.

Why not hang at the top like those office?

yes the trunking, even the thinnest stick out like an eye sore. I didnt opt for the free opennet install due to this.

Later found that a guy able to install the thinnest fibre line and self paid opennet to install the termination pt just to the main door. The supervisor said the $235 includes 15m of fibre into hoise n if I stop at door still same charges.

So the fiber from door all the way into my entertainment room. The installer will tesf the signal to make sure no loss. Paid installer another $200 +.

why dont you run LAN cable into the study room? I think LAN is cheaper, and you can run several, to living room, to study etc.

OpenNet > ONT > LAN > Router

1. OpenNet and ONT at your maindoor area (i suppose you will have some cabinet there)

2. Run LAN cable to your study room (if have existing phone lines, can convert to LAN).

3. If you want more rooms with LAN, you can run a loop back to the maindoor area and add a simple LAN switch if connecting more than connection to other rooms. Or all other room LAN terminate at study.

4. Attach your wifi router to your LAN port in study room.

Hey there! Considering that today there are a large number of mobile telecom operators, it is very difficult to choose a company that will provide the ideal combination of price and quality of communication. Recently, Tracfone has become very popular, as their tariff plans are among the lowest, and the quality of communication is always high. In addition, many customers appreciate tracfone customer service which helps resolve any issues quickly, making the use of their services hassle-free.
