Mold Or Stains On Ceiling

Recommended Posts

Hi!

We just got the keys back from our former tenant and checked out the apartment. we found black stains all over the bedroom ceiling. and only there; the other rooms don't show this.

does anybody here know what this is and what could have caused it?

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

There is higher level of moisture in that ceiling of that room compared to other rooms.

If the person staying above is the type who switches on their aircon in that bedroom at the coldest setting and the whole day, the coldness will be felt on the ceiling of your bedroom. Condensation can occur and the wetness will surely cause mold to grow.

You need to remove the mold before you move in as they can be harmful if inhaled.

You need to repaint it over with a good quality anti mold white paint made specially for bathroom ceilings. ICI Dulux has such a paint.

To prevent recurrence, the only mitigation is to also switch on the aircon in your own room to equalise the temperature with the one above. If this is not a solution, then maybe a friendly feed back to the person above could be helpful. :)

Its mould cause by excessive moisture

You can use something called HCL89. Its strong enough to clean the mould as well as kill it

I usually get it from http://hcl89.byethost10.com or http://hcl89.atwebpages.com

One thing i like about it is that is creates a protection like on my wall so that it prevents future mould or etc

Hope this helps you out :)

This does not sound like a too economical solution, especially using aircon for long periods will increase you power bill

Hey guys. I have a solution for your problems. Personally tried and tested this product for myself.

Its purely organic, no chemicals and child-safe. Its really cheap too as it is sold in concentrate form.. I've tried to remove stains between tiles, toilet ceiling and along the walls. As simple as spray and leave on for 10minutes, then wipe off with a cloth. You don't even have to rub it hard or scrub.. You can use it for other stuff as well like mopping floor, cleaning grease off kitchen stove, wipe tables, etc. How it works in layman terms is that it uses 'good bacteria' to eat the 'bad bacteria'. Spraying it upon a surface lets the good bacteria spread across the area and it will cling onto the bad bacteria. Even after wiping off the cleaner, good bacteria will continue to cling onto the surface so that it continues to protect the surface from bad bacteria build up even after you've cleaned the surface already. It's just $22 for 1 litre and if you use it daily for cleaning it can last an estimated 1 month. Thus, its really affordable. PM me for more information on the product (VRM Mikroclean) and how to get it. Its not readily available everywhere as its relatively new to Singapore's market..

Is there a way to actually reduce moisture in ones' home?

I guess to avoid moisture is to always have a well ventilated room or area especially with good sunlight
