Ants Invasion From External Wall

Recommended Posts

Dear All,

I have a ANTS problem for the past 2 years since I've moved into my brand new flat.

I'm desperate, lost and don't know what to do and even till the extend to intend to move out my flat as I couldn't stand the ants invasion into my home on a daily basis.

Every morning prior setting out for work, I'll check my entire external wall from ktichen, living room to bedrooms. Similarly when I'm back from work at night I'll used a torch light to shine on the walls to check for ants. The reason I have to do so is to stop the ants from entering into my home. For the past 1 month, I've been spraying baygon every day.

There were a few occassion that I did not stop the ants at the external wall and when I'm back home the whole living & kitchen were invaded with ants.

I've feedback the matter to Town Council (TC) as the source of the ants were from the external wall but was refer to HDB as they found out that the source of the ants were from my unit below and upstairs.

I've personally knock on the upper and lower floor neighbours to feedback to them that there were ants coming up / down from their units and asked them to do a proper house keeping. However, they doesn't seem to be bother despite hundreds of ants in their home.

As the ant came from the external wall, all the pesticides, vinegar, baits and rubber bands that I've spray were washed away by the rain and the ants returns and the whole cycle repeat again.

Hence, I hope someone can advice and enlighten me what I can do to stop the ants from coming from the external walls into my home?

Thanks for reading.

Hi..

mine also a new bto n my hse was also invaded by ants.

I have since found a cheap solution but u will to do this like 1mth or 2 mths once till u dont see the ants in ur home anymore..like maintanance lah..

ntuc is selling this Terro-Pco which is abt $4 per small bottle.its a white bottle with a yellow twist cap.

What u need to do is find the trail of ants..for eg if they enter from ur doorstep, u drop like maybe 4-5 drops of terro-pco there..

Soon u will see alot of ants crowding ard it.

leave it be till the ants dissappear.

Continue to top up if u still see the ants there most importantly u must drop it where the ants trail are ok?

they will bring it to the nest and destroy the whole nest.

but pls do keep out of reach from kids and pets..now my home is free of ants :)

Good luck!!

Ants won't love your home so much for no REASONS.

Ants are **** hardworking insects with super sensitive antenna.

They hunt for FOOD they like, every moment.

A spill of typical 3-in-1 coffee drop on floor/table - they come very fast.

Potatos chip, a little bit on floor they come too.

Cake, cookie,.......leave exposed they come!

No fast and quick way but discipline count.

Some cheap yet effective solutions here:

You take orange?

You mop floor?

Peel fresh orange skin and leave it at edges, replace on weekly basis. This is ONLY a preventive way.

Add Dettol with fresh water and mop floor everyday. No vinegar for marble/granite.

Clean those edges you mentioned with heavy dettol.....

You will see the immediate effect within a week or less.

It depends actually..

My kitchen top has nothing on it.. no food nothing..no spills..

but then ants crawled everywhere..instead u can find them in mugs with plain water, jugs n so forth..

used dettol n some other cleaning floor detergents still they came.. they hide in cracks in between doors or cabinets..

only this final resort i took and it worked! :)

Dear all,

Merry Christmas to all of you and wishing our home free from ANTS!

Agree with you Swit, my home has nothing to allow the ants to come in as I don't cook as only my husband and myself. We don't have the habit to leave food at the table. But the ants still come in. Don't know why?

I using magic clean Green apple cleaning solution to mop the floor. Don't know if this attracts them to my home.

Thanks I'll try the Terro-Pro for the entry points and clean my floor heavily with Dettol/ Vinegar.

I've tried combat and other popular brands products but all don't work. Surprisingly Ant Gel works like magic. And it is odourless. Made from food grade materials so no issue for children or pets too. You can get from NTUC,Giant or Homefix. Around $11 for a tube. Brand is Golden Hammer. The packaging looks not promising but effect is amazing. There are no more ants in my house just after 2 days. My parents 40 years od house have more ants so took one whole week to see the effect. I've recommended it to many friends and relatives, all are amazed with the result. :good:. It not only get rid of ants in your house, but also outside your house, and the entire ant colony. You wouldn't need pesticides, vinegar, baits etc. anymore. Another forumer has suggested Terro-Pco above. I've not tried it but both works the same. Either one should be fine.

i have this experience as well

what was your experience like?

i found ant nest in a rarely used top kitchen cabinet 3 weeks ago, cleared it on my own, but ants still appeared. Called in pest control, they baited and more ants came. Gave up, sprayed on my own at all windows, after two weeks no more ants in kitchen and toilets, thought finally they were gone.

This week saw a trail of ants outside my front door corridor! freaked out! But they are not entering my house. Called TC, till now they haven't resolve the problem. But today they said they sprayed at a riser near the lift which the trail is heading for. Oh dear, they shouldn't spray there, coz I worry the ants nowhere to go end up entering my house... prayers please...
