I need help. Although my ID has done up a false ceiling, the Air Con Trunking is floating outside and is destroying the look of the entire bedroom and living room. See pix here

I have already paid $2800 for the Aircon Installation and Bracket. Now they need me to pay another $700 for dismantling and re-installation. Is this normal ?

Why is it that other people Aircon looks like this ?

While mine looks like that ?

Hi Fannz,

I install the aircon first before the false ceiling. I left it to my ID to take care with the Aircon man since she is the "expert". My ID told me that no way to hide the cable in false ceiling. Should just build a feature wall to cover everything up (extra cost). But I was scanning through all the home deco books and websites. Their aircon looks like this https://www.flickr.c...02/16135603768/. Not sure why I am reducing my ceiling by 6 inches for false ceiling when I can't even hide this :(. So depressing.

Yr ID shld haf inform/advise the aircon installers to install the trunkings along the false ceiling or cabinet. For my place, I have no visible track for the powerpoint too as I pay extra to hide the wirings.

Hi El LoCo,

This is the reply from the Aircon company - CoolForce

Thanks for the layout plans and the phone call earlier. There will be no extra cost for the cancellation job order tomorrow.

The installers are not aware of false ceiling work as there is no renovation layout & perspective plan provided. Therefore, to minimize sight of too many trunking; they can only install them on the low-wall side, in-line with the water drainage pipe in the same trunking. The installers did discussed on the Aircon position & piping route before approval was given to carried out installation.

Additional information:

Inside these trunking, there is drainage pipe to allow condensate water to drain, there must be gradient to allow smooth water flow to outlet. I wish to clarify that even with false ceiling to hide majority of the ‘gas pipe’ trunking, there will still be sight of trunking at the corner of the Aircon, as well as the trunking for ‘water drainage pipe’. (Attached were the sample sketches sent to ID last Friday.)

Unlike condominium or private houses with higher ceiling height and that it is allowed to conceal both ‘gas pipe’ & ‘drainage pipe’ behind of wall / tiles; the installation method were different.

For HDB flats, it is not allowed to carry conceal pipe work behind the wall / underneath the tiles.

There are various areas where I could not do up the illustration, I can arrange an appointment on site for better clarification. Let me know if you’re fine with the arrangement.

I think now you probably have no choice but to pay more to cover them? I also experienced some unhappiness during the house reno and I did ask many friends on how to manage it. Sometimes have no choice but to pay more, if not you will always "dislike" it.

The curtain is so expensive. Which shop did you go? My whole house I did timber blind and outdoor PVC blind and probably at 60-70% of your price. My colleague told me that there's one curtain shop at Causeway point and the price is reasonable and quite a lot of selection for curtain.
