Renovation Quotation - Your Views?

Recommended Posts

I got a quotation of $45K for some renovation that I want to do to my apartment. However I am not sure if this price seems right or it is on the higher side. This is my first time doing renovation. Can someone advise? I just want to know the ball-park because the contractors changed the price twice and each time it is higher and they said it is because of the materials I use will be more expensive.

I am basically quoted base on the following i want to do:

- renovate the entire kitchen with new cabinets etc. I am only using wood looking laminate & blum system for cabinets. The kitchen is around 120sqf.

- polish my marble floor and parquet

- carpentry work for 2 built-in queen-size beds

- re-wiring

Thanks.

Polish marble and parquat for free?something not right..or he might have eaten from somewhere else..

ALWAYS get many other quotes and you will be able to compare and find out who the bloodsuckers are.

Q size built in bed depending on material should be 1k more or less, lets say 4k for 2

For the kitchen i120 is huge(did u get it right?or was it 12 feet???. 24 feet with solid surface should be around 5-6k. Kitchen is not measured by sqf rather per foot run

Wiring is somewhere about 2.5k

Polishing..how big?how many rooms. Lets say 1 rooms 450-600 per room

It is highly marked up.. It is better that you have a few other quotes for comparision and most importantly you must understand what you are paying for to avoid unecessary top up for eg what you have mentioned, additional charges for materia grades.

Do share your contacts if you found any? Mine is also resale condo.. Finding a contractor to do up the place and limit to a Budget of 50k seems kind of impossible..

hello bernice, saw your post, thought of sharing with you my experience with this contactor rows & columns. They are responsive and will provide suggestions that i did not think of, lent me their laminate book so i can take my time to think of the colours to use on my cabinets, tv console etc hahaha... my considerations for the contractors: must have HDB license, office, factory(so that i can go and see their carpentry process), a newly renovated unit so i can see the workmanship. and my advise is to get a few contractor's quotation and do comparison, prepare your floor plan and let the contractor know your budget too. Don't go for ID!! omg..their price really mark up super alot :( Forest 91869083. all the best to your quotation!
