Hello everyone :)

If you have any questions about water heaters, be they gas, storage, instant, solar or heat pumps, please feel free to let us know and we’ll do our best to help! Our objective is to give you unbiased advice about all types of heaters so you can find the most suitable one for your own home.

Water heaters are the second largest energy consumers at home so it is natural that many home owners have asked us for an energy (and money) saving solution. One of the most popular heating technologies right now is Digital Heating.

conventional-vs-digital-e1444716280258.j

What is Digital Heating?

Digital heaters look exactly the same as your regular tank storage water heater, except they come with a touch screen control panel which allows home owners full control of their heaters. This should be familiar with those who are into smart home technology.

Digital heaters can save you up to $200/year in electric bills because unlike the conventional on/off switch, digital panels come with temperature adjustment controls and other energy saving functions. More on these latest technologies soon!

(as promised) more about how digital heaters can make our life easier.

Storage heater users out there… You know how we turn our heaters on for 15 min before using it to ensure there is sufficient hot water for our shower? With digital heating, there is no need to do that anymore!

Digital heaters come with a temperature indicator which show you how much hot water is in your tank with a single glance.

Red = hot water

Yellow = warm water

Green = cool water

Sometimes, you don’t even have to wait. Jump right into the shower if you have at least 3 red bars of hot water.

This is just one way technology makes our lives simple and saves our precious time.

Hi,

can your water heater be mounted vertically in the service yard?

Assuming a family size of 3 what size storage would you recommend?

Digital panel mounting is concealed type? How is the wires run if I'm not making false wall?

Hello! :) Tq for your inquiry!

1. Can water heater be mounted vertically in service yard?

- Yes. More info on vertical water heaters here >> Lowboy Electric Heater (made in USA) - but this is not digital.. digital needs to be installed horizontally or you can consider Square Digital which is smaller >> Square Digital Heater

The horizontal type cannot be mounted vertically.

- service yard installations are ok, but if you are staying BTO, it *might* cost you more. If you want we can see your job and give you a quote. (no obligations, no charges!)

2. Family size 3, recommendation

- 30 lit (low usage), 40 lit (high usage)

- more general info on sizing >> Sizing your water heater

3. Digital panel mounting can be concealed, but you need to install early before your tiling is up. here are examples of exposed and concealed installation. Most HDB is exposed.

Thanks.

My service yard only has space for vertical mount due to the clothes hanger. For the panel ideally to be mounted-outside the bathroom instead of in the service yard but my switches are all already concealed so I will give it a miss as protruding will look ugly.

Can pm me the cost for the 25l square digital one?

Done, just PMed u! The 25L square digital is also a good choice since your switches are all already concealed. This version you can also save $200/year. Sq digital comes with a remote control instead of a built-into-wall touch screen control panel.. which means no more drilling or wiring :)

Update as of June 2017: The 25 lit digital water heater has been discontinued. We have received quite a lot of user feedback that this model is too small and hence produces too little water for the average household in Singapore.

Do you have a large family? Or perhaps you have guests staying over? Digital heaters can prevent you from running out of hot water.

A sensor is connected to the outlet of every digital heater so they can detect a higher-than-usual hot water usage.

The smart heater will then produce up to two times more hot water for your usage!

This heating technology is also patented and is called "MAX heating", because it gives you the MAXimum amount of hot water possible.

Do you always find yourself waiting for 15 min for your heater to heat up before you enter? Digital heaters have intelligent functions that can save you time and give you hot water immediately.

Some digital heaters come with built-in timer functions. What this means is that you can now program your heater to turn on automatically.

It is especially useful to be able to sleep in for those precious few minutes in the morning.

It is also great for those days when you get back home from work and want to take a relaxing hot shower immediately!

More about built in timers here >> Digital Built-in Timers

Large A. O. Smith energy saving heat pump water heaters installed at the Ministry of Environment Building at Scotts Road. Heat pumps are the most energy saving water heaters in Singapore and are widely used by hotels, serviced apartments and country clubs. Heat pumps are more energy saving than solar water heaters!
