Id Issues : Help Needed

Recommended Posts

Hi all, i need urgent help.

Last year in early november, i formally engaged an ID who quoted me $19k for hacking of HDB wall, kitchen and two toilets. We made the first downpayment and work started a week later. Things started out smoothly but hiccups happened along the way (things promised couldn’t be delivered, things were overcharged, electrical re-wiring were said to be done but upon inspection, only shifting of plugs took place etc).

A few months have passed (3 months to be exact), the house is still not complete. Mainly because the ID told us some things which were promised at the start, suddenly cannot be done. So we scrapped some of the jobs due to delay. On top of that, the final bill came in, it escalated to $27k. (the bulk of it came from electrical re-wirings and prices that we were not informed of until after the jobs were completed.)

Overall, we are not satisfied with the service, we were not informed of the price of add-on jobs along the way and we are thinking of forwarding this issue to CASE for mediation.

We need help from people who went thru similar situations and went to CASE for mediation. $8k of extra charge on top of incomplete job is definitely not a small sum, and the ID has also threatened us to bill late payment fees, drag us to court etc. He also locked us out of our unit by changing the numeric lock (which we have already lodged a report).

Really appreciate your help and thanks in advance.

Didnt go through mediation but you can call CASE hotline for advice. Cause I encountered issues with my ID as well and CASE adviced me to lodge an record with them.

Singapore is a lawful country.

Buy, sell, acceptance and consideration form the contract, whether in black & white or just verbal (best need some form of evidence).

My guessing that you did not come with agreed pricing but gave instruction to go ahead for the reno jobs?

and things turn sour.

ID has no TITLE of the unit - he is not the owner. He has no single right stop you from accessing.

His act constitutes an illegal occupancy, and police should be called to settle this.

Get everything done in black & white.

There are many bad eggs in this industry. Please be careful of this "interior designer" by the name of Eugene Tan. (Mobile 9***3882).

Uses alot of vulgarities and threats of violence. Police report was made against him. He also claimed some lower grade supplier is a partner of the company when it is not (probably to get commission from the supplier). Very unethical and gangster behavior. He jumps around to various different ID firms so I will not state the ID company name.
