Cosy 4 room BTO at Palm Breeze

Recommended Posts

Hello there. I'm just super excited about my renovation and wanted to share the journey here.

We got our keys on 4 Jan 2017.

I will share more pictures soon as the renovation and drama (not too much I hope) progresses.

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

Got a bit of time during lunch, so decided to post some pictures of the progress so far:

Here is our floorplan. Just a standard looking BTO, 90 m2. 92m2 if you include the a/c ledge.

We reported a number of defects to BSC. The defects include:

- Poor finishing on window frames, main gate, main door and store door
- Poor finishing on skirting
- Stained silicon on skirting
- Paint on door hinges, toilet tiles and all switches
- Stain on kitchen tiles
- Chipped wall tile in the kitchen
While they were still rectifying the first batch of reported defects, we then found more:
- Stains on Windows **** room
- Dent on living room window drame

large.IMG-20170117-WA0013.jpg
- Uneven cement floor at main entrance

large.IMG-20170117-WA0014.jpg

After the last meeting with BSC, hubby already confirmed all defects rectified except these ones:
- Uneven painting for our skirting
- Uneven silicon on skirting
- Stains on window frames

Actually BSC made some noise since our contractors started works at the kitchen when they haven't completed their defect rectification works. However, hubby stood his ground and defended the contractors. How can BSC tell us that the uneven painting of the skirting, uneven silicon and stains on window frames is due to our contractors' tiling work? Cannot be lah!*shakes head* We are giving BSC until 9 Feb since we already got the hacking permit.

Meanwhile, here are the pictures for the completed tiling works at the kitchen.

Base for kitchen cabinet:

Base for washing machine:

Sink support:

I did request for this cement base support from one of the IDs but he said his company do not do cement base support for the sink. He said its normal these days to just do a wooden cabinet even for the sink. Not sure how true is this? What if leaking pipe below the sink leh? But I'm relieved my contractor is able to do this cement base support for my sink. :)

I too prefer cement support for sink but some IDs told me not good for maintenance, will have cracks and whatever rubbish. Are you leaving the concrete top as it is? Is it the sides are concrete too and then tiled?

How much did your contractor charge you for the cement base? I'm hoping cost can be the deciding factor! lol

I will have my quartz top over the concrete sink support. The sides are all concrete and then tiled with homogenous tiles.

I'm spending about 23K for the whole reno. If you need the cost for the cement base, I can share my contractor's contact. Let me know if you want. :)

Hacking is done in just half a day!

These were the plans:

Our kitchen suddenly look so spacious after the hacking!  Need to enjoy until they put up my window frames and grilles at the service yard.

And the wall is gone between master bedroom and bedroom 2!
