I am writing to share a very bad experience I had encountered after purchasing a Lista FRC Table (Concrete table) and 2 Squared Concrete Stool from Martlewood Pte. Ltd (UEN: 201511408C).

Months ago, I wanted to purchase both items from Casterly as they seemed to be more established than Martlewood. However, the item I wanted went out of stock and I had to choose an alternative shop to purchase it. I chanced upon Martlewood after a search on the net and found the rating of their facebook page to be acceptable before proceeding to purchase from them in May 2017, not knowing this is a beginning of a bad bad experience in weeks to come.

The total cost of item amounts to $777.00 (No promotion/discount) and I was told that I had to pay a 50% deposit ($388.50) to "secure" the item and to arrange a date for the delivery. To which I gladly agree as I understand the standard practice of the market and do not want to miss my items again. I was promised that all items will be delivered between Mid to End June 2017.

Sadly, weeks later I received a Whatsapp message from Sharon Chan informing me that the items will be delayed for 1 week until the first week of July (I would consider it as a delay of 2 weeks as the earliest date of delivery agreed before is Mid-June). But I am fine with it.

After this incident, I decided to do more research on Martlewood before realizing their reputation is not that good after all.

Scam from companies which may be linked to Martlewood.

Screenshots of real conversation exchange:

I would leave it up to you to read the rest of the conversation if you are interested in our exchanges (refer to screenshots below), at times I try to be accommodating and understanding, however her lousy attitude and lack of professionalism "triggered" me and caused to be annoyed at Martlewood's after-sales services. Not a post to pass judgement, just want to share this experience and hope this does not happen to anyone.

2nd time her phone crash. What are the chances the "phone crash" is real? Always at the crucial moment.

Tbh, the bolts doesn't help much, because the rubber padding will always be misaligned no matter how I shift the table top. Also. I feel it is a basic sales courtesy to inform the customer there will be these extra bolts drilled into a smaller table before they confirm the order? I remember asking her if the smaller table will be of an exact design to the one that was displayed at the store (which is bigger). To which she told me the colour will vary slightly as this is concrete - I understand and acknowledged that before placing my order. But! she did not inform me there will be holes, bolts and metal plates drilled into my table.

Do you think I would like to go through another round of tug-of-war with Martlewood? Nope, I don't. Who knows, they might come up with some other excuses to not refund me my money. Nice try Sharon, nice try.

That's the last message from her.

Sad to say my experience with them were equally bad...

We saw on facebook about Martlewood putting this Sophia Dining Table Set on offer for $888 due to clearance so we decided to go down to Ubi to take a look at it.

1 ) While we were there, we noticed that there are holes on the wood (both table and bench) which we were told that it is due to the nature of wood. I was not really particular about the bench but the table.. so when I asked about the food dropping into the hole, the guy salesperson still can suggest to use toothpick to pick out the food. -.-" I was like impossible for us to do that every single time that the food went in right? which I believe will be very often. Anyway, ok fine as we planning to put a piece of glass over it.

2) I was told that the delivery will be after 3pm on 3/2/18 (sat) and I specifically told them to call me when they are going down as we don't stay there. Yet this Sharon called me at 3pm asking where am I when I was just going out of my current house, which is relatively near. When I told her that she told me it will be after 3pm, she said she already told me that they will reach at 3pm. I was like "What?" ok fine, so we took grab over which cost us about $6.. I should claim this from her.

3) I checked the items after they had installed it and I found some defects so I took photos and whatsapp to her.

Defects : A hole that goes right through the whole thickness of bench top, some holes are fine but it went right through. Totally cannot accept! Fyi, the wood is around 5cm thick.

- The leg on the bench is not even so it keep shaking, the china guy gave us another piece of rubber for us to figure out how to stick at the bottom to balance it ourselves. I messaged the woman about all the defects and she told me they only have the display bench, is it ok with us? so we are fine with it since I remember that it looks ok when we were there. She said will arrange and let me know which a week later (ok, 5 working days), I messaged her on friday and there was no reply so I tried again on saturday, she say will let me know on monday. Whole of monday morning, no update from her but it's ok, so I messaged her again at 1:28pm. She says arranging and will confirm with me, then suddenly say delivery tomorrow between 11am to 1pm. She think we no need work is it? Stay at home wait for her exchange delivery?

- The plastic for the magnet on tv console's door is broken, and I was told it still serve it's purpose! Would you buy a cup with a chip at the edge? It still serve it's purpose right? You are still able to drink water from it! So while I was still waiting for her reply, my bf can't wait anymore so he called her (he was not with me at that time). Which after that I asked her about the magnet, she told me "I have liaised with your bf already". What kind of attitude is this? I was so so angry. End up she replied saying if they can find it before CNY, if not will be after CNY. Do you really think I will believe that they will come down on another day just to fix that magnet? Petrol no need money? Even though Diesel is cheaper, I seriously doubt that they will come down just to fix the magnet. Especially when they told my bf that the magnet is not a priority.

Overall, service very bad. Strongly not recommended! That's all~
