Beware!! ID Allan Chee from 3D Innovations

Recommended Posts

3D Innovations (Sin Ming Branch)

Designer’s Name: Allan Chee (self titled $2M award winning ID man)

Date of Renovation: Aug 2017

Designer
We paid 50% of the total reno cost to get work started. The promised 3D drawings was delayed more than a week. When eventually it arrived, the drawing was totally out of dimension, distorted and simply ugly. I believed the images- copied and pasted from other projects.

Allan blamed his draftsman whom he claims was sacked. Demolition work already started and we had to proceed with out any design.

 Service
Allan Chee, was always late for appointment. And even if he turns up – he was always on the phone, chatting. I was overseeing the project more than him. We had to update Allan on the progress/mistakes of the renovation.

Mistakes and workmanship
Tiling workmanship is good but made many mistakes because ID Allan Chee did not give proper instructions. He was never at the work site and rely on the sub con to feed back on dimensions. Two of my bedroom door frames were wrongly dismantled and when pointed out to Allan, he replaced them with a shorter frame. We had to re-redo the door frames again. Tiling at both bathroom redo several times due to no proper instructions. Infact, we were coordinating with the tiler directly

Plumber laid the pipes wrongly. No provision for pipings for Storage Heater. Had to hack off some tiles to relay the pipes again.

Conclusion

We spoke to his team leader on many occasions. When he did not even turn up for the final meeting, that we approached 3D’ management to terminate the contract. His team leader Denn Lim took over and complete the outstanding renovations as we cancelled the electrical and woodworks. Denn did a marvellous job and show much responsibility which Allan Chee has none.

 Opinion on Designer (Allan Chee)

Allan Chee, inigtially, strikes out to be a nice and smooth talker. During initial discussion, he was able to get quotations within 10-15mins. He showed many images of projects (I doubt it is his projects, maybe copied from other projects). Claiming to be an award winning designer. Immediately after the deposit paid, Allan showed his true character. Arrogant, boastful, irresponsible, showoff and most of all, he is not knowledgeable and is not able to follow through the renovations. I doubt his qualification.

I met Allan a couple of months ago at the Serangoon NEX branch. I was introduced to him by a friend. I only met him once as I dropped him in the end. I can't comment much about the workmanship as I did not engage him for my renovation, but on first impression, he was quite a nice guy, very well-dressed. I would say he is a very good salesman and a smooth talker. Chose not to go ahead with him as I did not like the designs that he proposed and the works he showed to me on the iPad. I also don't feel comfortable when he threw in freebies to entice me, and tried to convince me to sign up on the spot.

Hi thanks for your comment. Rightly said - Allan is a smooth talker, a good saleman who claims to be an award wining designer. Fortunately I did not go ahead with him. We were most unfortunate, due to time frame, we did not make comparison.

Immed after we paid 50% to start work, all his promise are duds. No drawings, no creativity, no follow ups, mistakes after mistakes. Rectification after rectification. Late for appointments. Eventually his superior replaced him and completed the remaining portions. We changed to another contractor for remaining carpentry and electrical works. Damages already done, the new contractor savaged whatever possible.

He is a nightmare.

I never trust 3D innovations, my first impression of them was a bad one.
the ID from TPY branch set an appointment with us on a Sat morning @ 9am, when we arrived there - he totally forgot about our appointment and ask us what we want. Then he did the quotation on the spot, we entertained him awhile and tell him NO.
Total waste of time.

Gave them another chance and try another person from different outlet, same thing.

All kind of fairy tale story telling you this can that can, end up after the first meetup they  just MIA and no follow up.
I feel that lack of ownership and has no sense of responsibility, therefore at the start i've already blacklist them.

Anyway, since you got his team lead - Denn to take over now. I believe should be better?
you need to keep chasing them for updates, some ID companies take things for granted and like to delay things.

Hi Clarence, good that you avoided a disaster for your renovation.

Originally we , despite all the setbacks, we tolerated Allan Chee's nonsense. Late for appointments, non responsive, mistakes despite our reminders, bochap attitude and no instructions to sub contractors. As such the sub-contractors made many mistakes - plumber did not run the pipings accordingly, tiler tiled wrong places and demolition team mistakenly, removed both bedroom door frames  and all the sub contractors had to rectify the situation. Causing much delays and frustrations.

We had no choice but to speak to the team leader - Denn  Lim - guess, then realised the seriousness of the situation, decided to take over the project personally. By this time, we had already cancelled the Carpentry and Electrical orders.

In all fairness, I will not brand 3D Innovations negatively as there are also good IDs. For sure Allan Chee is the worse I have seen and disastrous to deal with.

yeah i can totally understand that frustration.
Even with my ID there are alot of miscomm, wrong instructions to their sub-con too.

Bottomline, it's all about the ID not about the company. Glad that Denn is doing a good job in handling your project now.

Thanks Clarence. The frustration was we gave Allan Chee many chances to make rectification. Yet, he was not repentant. U can imagine, his team leader had to take over and finish the outstanding after we cancelled the carpentry and electrical. Allan is too arrogant.

I shd send my experience to all other renovation companies Incase Allan Chee tries to apply for another company.
