Our 2nd Home Sweet Home - 5rm Resale

Recommended Posts

Arrived today also are our Hansgrohe purchases. We had also decided to spend a bit more for some quality faucets and showers. The quality is really top notch. Holding it in your hands gives you a confidence that there is no compromise in thickness due to it's weight.

Hi Yokechye, did you get a good price for the showers? If yes, able to share the shop pls?

since we are redoing the toilet, I had insisted that the shower screen alum U-channel to be embedded into the finishes, so the end result is just a clear glass panel, unlike the after thought add-on look.

We had a major issue with kitchen sink cabinet in our previous house. The leak from the kitchen faucet had caused rotting to the counter top. We decided at that time to upgrade to a larger sink and replace the white solid surface with Quartz. I would advise to avoid using solid surface as it scratches and stain, especially when it is white!

This round, we adopted concrete base, also recommended by our ID contractor. Installation in progress.

Also wall skirting removed and patched up ready to receive the vinyl floor.

one of them I got off at a very good price from carousell. almost half. the rest i got from Hansgrohe showroom at Mohammad Sultan. The kitchen and toilet faucets are on discount/GSS. Another rain shower I got it with 20% discount (non promo/GSS items) using a friend's SIA PPS membership.

Some of my friends suggested Econflo at Commonwealth. I think Bretz & Co at Nassim Road also not bad.

If you have an account with China's forwarder such as Prouter, I think you can buy from taobao. Most of them wholesaler and selling authentic Hansgrohe. I tried to buy direct from them but was not allowed. They refused to send imported high value products to Singapore due to past experience of huge lost on some accounts with Singapore buyers. Not sure what though. So If you have Prouter account, which I had only just recently know how to do it, you probably can save quite a bit. But you need to take risk for damaged items.

Over the weekend, we did some setting out and mock up of the shower mixer and rain shower. This set is cheaper that has the mixer and rain shower pole separated. If I get the full "integrated one" it will cost another many hundreds more and had to wait 2-3 weeks to indent. I could have bought from taobao but I am also afraid that it might be damaged along the way due to its slim and long packaging.

So placing it side by side is not much of an issue. Just that the shower is slightly off-centered. Cannot place it one above another because the rain shower will be too high. almost 2.4m up! Best position is 1m from finished floor level to centre of mixer and rain shower control.

Day 14

Aircon piping completed yesterday evening. Did a good job to flush the box to the beam so that it will look seamless.

The kitchen sink was casted to the concrete top today. Great because there is no need to worry about having any rotting plywood top caused by leakage.

20180620_183458.jpg.8fdbe090e4fca96006b2b23a8277393d.jpg

The drywall for the master bedroom walk-in wardrobe was also up.

Just tested the camera. the bell is loud and clear. The connection is quite easy with a few steps to setting it up. Video quality is pretty decent and if it is too dark, it seems to switch to infrared which is clearer. voice wise, not the best as it tends to be laggy, probably due to wifi connectivity.

Sample image from the camera.

Day 16.

Lots of things happening

Windows are here! Opt for clear glass for a brighter view.

The toilet piping also in progress while installation of toilet windows are going on.

20180622_143848.jpg.2203f7c4868f221dc3b0090d1bf6feec.jpg

Lights and tracks are also here. The longest is 3m long. I had to carry it up 6 floors. I feel so bad for the uncle who carried a 3.2m curtain track up 25 floors for our previous home.

Over the weekend, we bought another 4 more KDK fans. Paid GST S$15.15 at custom after deducting S$600 tax relief. Still very much cheaper than buying from SG stores.
