4rm resale Yishun reno

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Mine is a 4rm resale flat. now still undergoing reno. mine had a store room in the kitchen and i got the hacker to hack it off.

Then the contractor told me that the wall tiles had fallen off as the walls are too old (30 years old) and the tiles fell off when they were hacking the flooring.

When asked if i want to redo my whole kitchen, i reject it as it cost almost $3000.

I say just patch it back.

Now one month on into reno, then contractor say that i have to pay for the patching of the wall.

what i cannot understand is when he had sent me a pic, the wall still had half of the tiles at least. but when i turned up at my flat, the whole one side of my kitchen wall tiles were gone.

has anyone also encountered this before?

does the contractor have to be responsible for this?

perhaps they could have been more careful when hacking off my kitchen storeroom so that it won't damage my wall tiles.

or do i have to accept responsibility for it ?

that my walls are just too old and would peel off?

when i was living there, the wall tiles looked perfectly fine.

they were not dropping off at all.

what should i do?

Hi yishunflat,

It is very hard for us to give you any advise. We do not know the condition of your flat. As your flat is very old, expansion and contraction due to heat and poor workmanship may have caused the tiles to crack. When one tile gives way, the rest of the tiles will also give way just like domino effect. It has happened to my old condo before.
