I engaged with a Terrible contractor!

I signed  a contract for my HDB resale renovation with Brilliant D Concept Pte Ltd. When we discussed the reno work with them, they said everything can be done. All can be done. 

Then we signed contract, the person Albert tried to charge us more. He claimed that our kitchen cabinet lamination work does not include the exposed area and if we want to laminate those area, we have to pay $950 more. When we discussed at first, we understood that those are already included in the price. Only we signed that contract he claimed not included. 

And, he claimed that our switches are very old and now no longer compatible with the current designs so have to change the base also and will cost $700 more.  We found out ourselves that our switches are common standard and can easily find replacement at any shops. 

The painting also does not include the door frames, pipes, etc, will cost $200 more. 

This Albert guy claimed one thing then change another later. No credibility. There are a lot more than I can write here. Very disappointed. We really regret engaging with them. We paid 2K deposit and wanted to claim back. But they refused to refund. 

My warning to those who are thinking of engaging with them; 'You will regret it later. Don't sign with them.'

Oh dear , my carpenter doesn't charge me for those u mentioned.  I think it's better for u to change your contractor and give up the 2k deposit since the agenda is already not healthy , I foresee you will have alot more top ups coming along the way . My contractor was quite well known in this forum for his works and extra services. His price as surveyed was much better than most outside example $250 pfr for wardrobe .  Maybe u can check with him whether he can subsidise on the deposit paid and give u a better price . 

Lastly u no need to pay for extra lamination for sure as their internal I think was laminated also and they are HDB licensed contractor .
