Renovating HDB toilet - question on pipes

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I'm presently looking to buy an old HDB unit , which has a separated toilet and bathroom. The toilet and the bathroom are separated by a thin wall.

I was thinking of hacking down the wall to make a bigger combined bathroom, but there are some pipes that are in the way. We are looking at 1-2 big straight pipes linking the top of the toilet to floor. There are maybe another 1-2 smaller pipes that protrude from the side of the big pipes (about halfway down the big pipe) that are linked to the floor as well. I was wondering if anyone has experience with something similar, and/or what can be done to those pipes. Can they be removed?

I also noticed that the ceilings of the toilet and the shower are at different heights. Would this be also be an issue during the renovation?
