It's really bad right? All these big players behaving like that. Grafunkt is supposed to be a premier brand and as such you would expect better from them. I didn't have a good experience with boconcept too. It is such incidents which make you feel that sometimes, the small shops are the best. Anyway, did you try speaking to the boss Jeffrey? Think he is always at the playfair outlet on weekends. if i were you I would go down to the store personally and request for full refund - no store credits and the full 100%. -
I like your common toilet tiles! The contrast of the subway tiles with the black honeycomb is gorgeous!

This is very nice!

I agree with you. A clean base is best to work on. Too much and it will be an overkill. Btw do upload his name card. I am curious to see the design
-
Yes he is stressing me out again. Today I went up and I saw the doors are up and painting has commenced! Too fast as usual! Btw my hubs is a fan of pinkwhale. Whenever mr k asks him what he wants, he will ask that he do what he did to pinkwhale's house. And yes he is very forgetful!! He even admitted it! Lol Pls post pics of your reno!

Mk- I don't think yours is that bad lar. Have been quietly stalking your blog and I see that A managed to hand over in Time right? In any case it was a good learning experience to prepare you for future renos right? Can empathize with you as We had a hard time with our first Reno. But it was a gd exp cos we are so wise now! Hehe

Hey congrats! We're with k too! He is indeed good rite? But why is it that you get updates with watsapp pics and we get none!! Hmm....must complain Liao haha

I like the tiles!! V nice!

Hi Claire, I would recommend that you settle the "messy and troublesome" works first, and save the cosmetic ones later. If you have a tight budget, u can actually do basic reno with no fixtures. Anyway, I think it's the little touches / knick knacks that makes a house a home. "Less is more", start slowly, take your time

Hi. It's Mega Discount Store, mentioned in the 59th post.
-
Hi Vanessa, Actually Mega has no GSS. U can choose the model that you want, get their quote and place a deposit (usually 100 ++). Then you'll need to do your homework by going to heartland shops, parisilk etc to get the best price, and Mega will match them, with further discounts depending on your bargaining skills. They're having a road show in Oct , but I personally think it's rubbish, since they can match prices elsewhere. The advantage Mega has is that they accept credit cards. If you're buying a lot, you'll get to earn enough air miles to redeem air tickets after your reno ! They sell almost everything, including the spin dry mop system, which is like $10 cheaper than NTUC (before bargaining). They even sell Leifheit ironing board. You can also try asking for free bulbs (non LEDs though) if you've made quite substantial purchase. We jokingly asked if can throw in free philips tornado bulbs, and their reply is " 拿 lor". Ya we know bulbs are cheap, but its the cheap thrill we get from such cheapskate requests. Haha. I recommend Joe from United Sq branch. Very pro and humble when he's not busy. I would not recommend going there during their road shows as they'll be too busy to provide you with undivided attention.

Hi granitetop, Mega should be able to match your quote, and sometimes lower.

Hi michaelsaw, Aircon costs about 4.5k for starmex system 4 4A38VA, from my contractor's cousin.

Hey my hubs was one too! But thanks to me he has grown to love the ac hehe

Hi, Just my two cents worth, it might be a hassle in future ? You might need easy and fast access between cooker and sink. A.k.a Work triangle. You'll need to make a detour when washing dishes. And you might need quick and easy access to water when u cook. Unless you can be sure that your partner will be at the other side to pass / receive. Sorry if I sounded very blunt, but I personally find that this is not a practical layout. You may think that it's easy to live with this inconvenience, but in the long run it might be frustrating. And Ketua is right. There could be issues in routing of pipes to the service yard. Sorry once again.

Hi juxtapose Don't know if it helps but I'm saying from personal experience. I'm one who's terrified of the heat whereas hubby is ok without ac. Before we did our Reno we had an ac for the living/ dining. Needless to say, it broke down within awhile( could be cos we inherited from previous owner or cos the old ac was insufficient for the house). I would love to ac my whole house now that we're doing our second Reno. But unfortunately, we are unable to do so cos our flat does not have an ac ledge ( and also cos costs constraints). As we have enough of watching tv without ac (perspiring like mad and waking up from watxhing tv cos it is so hot), we've decided to ac our living this time round. What've done is actually box up my living ( like what jaykr suggested). In any case, we do not like entertaining people so i guess it is more to accomodate our lifestyle. I would suggest u get an ac installed for your living if you can cos you never know when u need to switch it on(ESP when the weather is so hot these days). I would rather get it all done now during my Reno rather than later. Very sorry for the long wordy post!!

Hi ChinSer, Just curious, is the sink/basin and cooker hob seperated by some partition ?
-
Congrats ! So how's the ID/contractor hunt ?
-
I like this! Very very nice! The actual design is also turning out beautifully!

Hmm, it'll be like sitting under a hot waterfall. Shiok

An unplanned purchase (part 2) The more we look at our previous purchase, the more uncomfortable we felt about it. My hubby thought it looked cheapo and very much like a toy. We came across these beautiful Moroccan hand painted lamps. Let the pics do the talking : We got 3 of these beautiful lights in different design :
