Im a regular BKK visitor & just came back last week.Sum Luan Night Bazaar is still open. Packed as ever. Though the decor stuffs are very nice, the price is not so nice. Very touristy area. MRT stops at Lumpini.
Jatuchat. Shoppers paradise. I would advise one to start as early as 10am before the crowd gathers. Avoid going on sundays!!!! Its a sweaty body-to-body nightmare!!! Things are cheap & will be even cheaper if you know how to bargain. Me & wife bought some Thai bolsters, a teakwood Buddha face deco, some lights & some stuff. Very cheap!!!!
For chabors - shopping for cheap clothings, visit Platinum Mall. Aircon environment. Cheap if u buy a lot. Diagonally opposite of Platinum is Pratunam centre. Another Jatuchat, hot & stuffy. Guys can forget about this 2 places as its mostly gals clothes, accessories, shoes, bras & lingeries.
Instead, guys should head to MBK. One word, quite good lah......the top floor is the electronics heaven. HP, DVD, laptops, ripoffs etc etc
Makan - plenty. For the adventurous, go for the roadside stall. One word - we had 2nd helping. Phadthai, meatball noodles, grilled meat, river prawns & chicken, banana prata, u name it, we ate it. What stomach upset? If its good for the locals, its good for us too.
Or visit Chinatown for their seafood. Not so cheap but its fresh. No particular restaurant i can recommend.
Massage - cheap, clean & satisfying. Head & shoulder massage is only 180baht per hour. Fell asleep on the bed.
Word of caution - DONT TAKE TUK-TUK. Con men, all of them!!!!!!!
Cheers
Vince
yar!!!! go mBK, very nice stuffs down there.. esp for geeks like me.
and tuk tuk, ladies never take them! even guys! they bring u to seee ping pong show

hey man dont just judge by the price (cover) because there can be hidden costs crawling up ur bill later
do a little bit of research read recommendations, choose companies that have been doing these for quite a number of years, because these companies are those which wont jeopardize a few thousands for ruining their name
my 2 cents good luck bro

hi where to get shoji screen, a japanese door divider?
-
wow thats appalling indeed. you should email the management and sack the guy who brings the company down.
i never had this encounter this bad, but i had experienced salespersons before who totally bochup you cus in their minds they're thinking, "aiya this guy probably wont buy one larh"
and it sucks to be treated this way

hey guys if u're in BKK and wish to buy stuffs, but cant bring it back can head down to Pratunam go to this courier service called TAC just at the main road from Baiyok Tower 2.
but can be quite expensive, maybe around $10/kg. but by air.

1) HDB 3-5Rm Blk 220 +, near bedok centre, amenities: many many, everything you need from Bedok Library, Bedok MRT, Bedok Swimming complex, fair price, dvd stores, KFC, McDonalds, Cinema, etc etc.
Status: Completed, tenants moving in...

haha im not v sure of these kinda stuffs.
but really u can try ubi road 3 too, lotsa hardware shops here
-
i usually not want to buy anything with free gifts (kinda have this gut feeling they include the gifts' cost in the cost price.
-
it is true that big furniture shops like to KAR people. hence enlist only honest salesman to tell u the truth in things
-
i forgot the exact names but simply roll down to any hardware shops along the earlier part of geyland road (coming down from Bedok), they sell these kinda of cheaper protectors
-
wow parquet is pretty expensive by itself, yea and i second quessisabel's reply. if you're on tight budget, diy is the way
