    Hooray, renovation is finally over!

    Today, they have installed the wooden handrail for my staircase and added more "leaves" to my balcony grilles.

    This sat is handover day. Final touchup and polishing will be done.

    Will now start packing and movng things over. :)

    Ya.. they are cute, but quite mischievous, active and playful actually. And a little more barkish then other dog. These aspect will have to train them. Before, you get the dog understand their behavior and character would be good, so to manage your expectation. This is my second dog, first dog is Japanese Spitz mixed with Pomeranian, so my that dog looks like a brown color Japanese Spitz, or some look at it like a big sized Pomeranian.

    I have seen Pom X JS.

    I prefer pure breed. =p

    Ya JS can be barkish. need to train them from young. they are a healthy breed of dog with almost no health problems in their history of this breed, only problem is their joint and constant tear stains.

    No reno update today, as i'm going to bathe my dearest huggy furkid. And i'm really lazy to to get out of the house today, so i got my hb to buy coffee and afternoon snacks for the workers today. Initially, hb is against the idea, as he felt not necessary. For me, i felt we have to do it for a number of reason:

    1. check progress

    2. treat them nicer, they will do my house properly especially tiling portion

    3. they can reconfirm what i wanted to do before proceeding and more time efficient

    4. anything that is done wrongly, it is in time to rectify rather then everything is done, rectification may be too late. Or it may cause underlying problems.

    For buying snacks for the workers, i learned from my dad, when my dad's house which we stayed for 11 years is under going renovation, my dad did that everyday for the workers. And the result did reflect back, the workmanship is good and at handover we have nothing to rectify. Imo, this look some sort like bribing them. haha.. Just don't care, so long everything goes smoothly. Actually, same thing applies in workforce. You see, when my superior needs us to work OT, he will fork out his own pocket money to buy us meals. So, we will do it willingly and complete it on time and in better quality. And my dearest hb never learn such things, as he is not working for other people, he works for his dad only. So i guess in this area he has no experience. I always believe in listening to elder's advises with their experience, no harm trying. As the saying goes, 不听老人言，吃亏在眼前。 Well, they may not be right every time, as the time goes different working method and attitude, but no harm trying, if doesn't work i will not do it again. And buying them snacks everyday is not that costly. Imo, renovation and construction is a line that still sticks pretty much on traditional working attitude and method. So based on my dad's experience in construction, buying some goodies for the workers still works. And i also always believe, if you treat others well, other people will treat you well too. 将心比心。

    So far, every time we buy them snacks they are happy and they always reconfirm things with me too. I'm happy with their work, they are happy to have snacks too. Its a win win situation. At times, i have no time to buy snacks, i will get hb to do it since he works for his dad, his time is quite flexible, but i prefer to go personally. As hb do not know my design plan and he will always call to ask.

    Sorry for the above ranting, was a little angry with my hb for not understanding the reason of buying snacks for the worker even i have explained to him. Nonetheless, he still does it as the other day he sms me not to do it everyday, just do it every other day, and i ignored his sms. And i guess he got a bit frantic that i got angry and rushed down to our new house, as he knows i will be there.

    Side track a bit, just few pic of my precious furrykid, i feel like hugging him whenever i'm out. He is a joy to my parents, as he is quite mischievous and he has some cute reaction to new things. Like my dad bought few small fishes for the tank which we placed on the floor, and when my furkid saw. He licked the tank at the spot where the small fishes are at, and scratched the tank where the small fishes were. And it brought lots of laughter to us. And my mum say, maybe those fishes looks like the small fishes which i bought for him as treats.

    My mum also commented to my dad that he will miss my furkid when hb and i moved to our new place. As my dad is my furkid's best friend, he always played with him. When my dad wakes up in the middle of the night to watch tv, my furkid will sit with him.

    We named him BB, as he is always curious, and whatever we do, he wants to take part, or else he will be sitting beside us and look at what we are doing. So we always call him busybody, in short bb.

    Good services part 4

    The Henner club – Henry ID note Woodlands ( A HDB licensed contactor )

    Ever since I start my T-blog , I had receive quite a lot of Pm asking about my contractor contact. Since then the henner force had been growing too. To be fair I think it's time for me to write a short review (not really short) on Henry team of renovation to answer all quires.

    I like Henry Quotation. It's clear all black and white. Anything written in the quotation he will not increase the price (unless upgrade involved). Forumer had been asking me about any hidden cost. I would say there isn't any for my case, or I would say I didn't consider those as hidden cost as mainly mine is like adding additional item (changing of door knock etc etc). To me example of hidden cost is like: He charge u the kitchen cabinet but after doing it he tell you need to pay extra for the handle, or labour cost for installing hob and hood etc … But Henry wouldn't do this type of thing.

    Price wise, it's really very good. I visited a total of around 10 ID film and contractor. He's the one with the lowest and giving me the most confident. One of my army friends is working with an ID film. I show him the quote that time and he keep asking me to be careful as the price is too cheap to true. Ha … Lucky everything turn out well.

    Contact ability. Very good. Henry is always contactable be it before signing, during renovation or even after renovation. Even when he is not in Singapore, he will call you back immediately once he is back. So far the longest wait I had for him is 2hr when he is with another customer. He call back 2hr after my miss call.

    Design. Not bad. He is not those designer that give you 3D drawing. He designs through his experience. My kitchen is design by him. He's also the one that drive us around selecting our tile. We actually spend whole day selecting tile and he give a lot of good recommendation too.

    Carpenter Workmanship. Very Good. Understand from forum that a lot of contactor will discourage their customer to choice white glossy laminate for their cabinet. Excuse given will be hard to maintains, turn yellow etc etc. However the true reason is that it's very difficult to install as there will be a high chance of visible warpage. However when I chose white laminate for my kitchen, he didn't discourage me at all and even help me to design and match the red glossy laminate. Even closet design designer also admit my my kitchen is very well done.

    Tiler workmanship. Good . The ground line between tile is small and not deep. We are quite fussy customer, even small snake ground line we wouldn't accepted.

    Painter. Bad. I don't really like the painter initial workmanship. Did complaint to Henry about that and lucky he send another guy to rectify the problem. If not I will see patches at my living hall… Phew…

    Electrician. Price is average but after sale service very good. I did consider outsourcing initial, (hoping to save some money) but in the end his electrician price is very standard as compare to the market. To save trouble I let him handle. But I must say his after sale service is really good. There is 1 occasion that my MBR toilet light spoils. I call Henry to arrange his electrician to take a look. Upon trouble shooting we found out that it's not the installation problem but it's the light issue. He didn't charge us for that service and even offer to reinstall back the light FOC for me after I exchange it from lighting shop.

    Laminated flooring. Henry got Supreme member to install my laminated flooring. The only thing that surprises me is that he manages to get the price lower then what I get from contacting supreme direct. He keep telling me he didn't earn for that, ha … don't know how true.

    Plumper services. I really feel sorry for them. They are the one that visit my house the most time as the thing I bought keep having problem (no extra charges for additional visit during renovation) . I would say their workmanship is neat and tidy and during the last visit (my W.C saga ) that guy even mop my common toilet clean before he left.

    To date, I still keep in contact with Henry. He just visits my place recently to look at my baby with his wife and 2 cute boy boy. I feel comfortable working with him and hope anyone who work with him have a pleasant experience too.

    nice, you did your own research for individual contractors.

    Meaning you had to co ordinate most things yourself, I think some ppl is lazy so they just engaged an ID, designs leave it to them. I dont have creative ideas in mind, so i guess I cant be like you engaged a contractor and ask them do this and that =(

    you mention you walked IMM and other ID firms, so whats the cheapest quotes you got ?

    I frequently travel to Bangkok. Yes they have many talented artist and designers setting up small shops.

    Their furnitures are really cheap and nice, I remember looking around and see the prices.

    Just that I am curious about one thing which I nv go find out, lets say if you were to buy their furnitures from Bangkok, what services to use to shipped back to SG and actually i wonder will it be worth it anot when factor in the costs
