  1. the date has drawn near, and they are now testing the mrt and dun think i can take it...

really need help on this; i need contacts of contractors who do double glazed window, other than the one at imm.

    thank u

    Hi 0001T,

just to check, is your window slide or casement? If sliding window, dun bother to change as it dun help at all. Previously staying along road side, spent almost $3k to change masterbedroom and living room window, contractor promised that at least 80% cut down of noise. But end result, totally not effect.

One Veener door (with door handle/lock) will cost about $250 or lesser.

You can go to this shop, Door Plus, to see the Veener door samples. they are at East Coast road area.

  4. hubby went up to our place this evening ard 6pm. the workers doing masonry work were not as hardworking as those doing hacking. no one was ard at 6pm. n since he din have the keys, he had to wait till 7 for me to reach de place.

abit dissapointed when we opened the house. since we left the place on sat early afternoon at 11 till now, nothing much have been done. considering they were working this sun, sat-tues=4days of work!! but wat have they done??

does all dese work requires 4days effort? all i can say is, it's not very properly done up as well. my ID is in china on a biz seminar! no one to complain to at the moment!!

let's wait for him to come back n give me a call, n i'll make sure he ensures work carries on as per schedule!! 8|

Due to rushing of moving in. everyday will give ID gentle reminder of next day work. Make sure he follow schedule. :dancingqueen:

    Hi Porkpig,

ths for your recomm. John quoted and confm with him immediate. Very good rate.

  7. hi hi .... finding of the reno.

    1) Aircon - Diff Gain City quote differently. We got quote from GC IMM and GC Lot 1, Lot 1 price is higher by $360. Aircon system - $100, upgrade to Armflx 3/8 - $230, 2 time instalment - $30.

    2) Curtain - Most material provide will be standard size, unless you ask. if window too big, then there will be joining of 2pcs of cloth. If particular regards the joint, check first. Material with longer length will be more costly. Roller blind - if window too big, advise not to have roller blind, as material is standard size, need 2pcs of roller and will have gaps in between. no total darkness.

    3) Switches - Choo Chiang having most brand and reasonable price. Millia brand 1G - $1.90, 2G - $3.5, 3G - 5.25, as compare to electrical shop - 1G - $5, 2G - $8, 3G - $12. Friendly staff and exchange without any question ask.

    4) PLC downlight - price range shd not be more than $30. Purchase 13W - $15 (White Design) & $22 (Silver design).

    5) Katong Mega Store - one of the best price. If you know the model, just call and order. No deposit require. Payment upon delivery.

    just my 2cents :yamseng:

  8. Think paint the pipie is better. If box up the piping, then the pipe inside leaks, then more problem.

Think paint the pipie is better. If box up the piping, then the pipe inside leaks, then more problem.

thks. confm not to box up. only painting.

  9. if box up the whole toilet will become very small

    lagi not nice right?

how about painting the pipes black :dunno:

    Nice layout! :dribble::dribble:

Dun box up ba, save $$ buy or do something else. :P:P

paint the pipes to match your toilet 'theme'?

    or

put some hangers there to hang your towels, clothings etc etc

    (lagi ugly... muahaha)

    or

have some plants with big leaves to cover the 'bending' area of the pipe?

I agree with the rest... carpentry is expensive...better to spend on essential storage than just to make it look nice if you're on a tight budget...can find other solutions like the ones offered above. For me, my ID simply painted the pipes a colour that matches my bathroom design.

    dear all,

thks for the advise. will get ID to paint the pipe then get some nice bath accessories to hang. save money. :yamseng:

  10. Don't worry, your ID is your project manager and he's paid to solve this problem for you. If there;s a reasonable compromise then ok, but if it's really wrong, then they have no choice but to redo as it was their mistake.

Yeah...it's easy to exceed the total budget, mine did by more than 15% liao... :bangwall:

thks. Manage to solve the problem. Redo partial of "L" Box and electrical work. :sport-smiley-004:

ready need to watch the budget. excess too much liao :bangwall::bangwall:

  11. I saw your designs, it's unique. I like how the ID used the black L-box and beam to separate the dining, living and cosy area.

Yes, smartfool is right about the budget. You must first bear that in mind and then based on your needs and usage, create the appropriate spaces. If you have kids or are planning to, then the cosy area can be a mini play area. Alternatively, if you want to, you can partition the space near your windows into an open-concept study-room or something.

Anyway, my experience tells me that whatever budget you set aside, likely to exceed by 10-20%. So you must be prepared.

Like to idea of using the black L-box and beam to separate the dining, living and cosy area provided all measurement is proportion. nw problem :furious: Dinning area too small and living area too long. ID given wrong measurement to ceiling contractor. all electrical work "L" box done. meeting all to discuss tmr. :dunno:

  12. the feature wall with sliding doors to the rooms? haha. can bluff friends dont have rooms and you sleep in the study, imagine their face when they're trying to find the rooms.haha. its comes without balcony?

ya, going to tell friends tat knock down all wall. :notti: the long bowling alley without balcony......

  14. from what i can see, seems like ur place is good to play with eg. wallpaper and feature walls as well as mirrors

    your own personal preference actually

cos u and ur partner have to work out the budget as well

maybe can add 1 or 2 more colours to black and white..

my hb want to put wall paper but no budget. can only do feature wall. :(

additional colour will be the platform laminates becos no black or white and curtains doing silver colour :P

May I know who is your id. Thank you.

Hi Roel - ID will be Dennis from Lovehome

congrats! love the space u have...can tell us wats ur floor area?

and i love the R&R corner.........

    Floor area is 142sqm.

    spam chop :dancingqueen:

think that one is the air-con ledge window

    Hi applefreak,
