I can't put anything not movable in front of this bomb shelter as my maid will be sleeping inside. But Dennis agreed to paint the bomb shelter door and the room door frames to a same shade as my walls. So now I need to go through the paint catalogue to find a glossy paint that matches my walls. After Dennis paints the door, I am going to put these three painting that I did on the 3"walls". What do you think?

It looks good in the book Also, my cabinets in the Living/Dining & Kitchen is also Glossy off-white. So I cross my fingers it will match!

The plan is for hand over before CNY and we move in slowly. But my lease expires Feb 22 so we need to get outta there by Feb 20. Hubby wants to get someone to pack, unpack and delivery out stuff so I will not be stress out, But we will see how. DOn't really like people touching my things!

Hi TYM, Thanks for letting me know The only reason why we choose City Gas heater is because of the cost & ease. We currently have a F&P dryer & it really "eats" up the electrical bill! Hopefully with the gas dryer, it will be cheaper. Since we are getting the gas dryer, we thought we might as well get the gas heater, otherwise, we may need to get two heaters. One storage heater for the bathroom and another heater for under the sink (we use hot water to wash our dishes), like what we currently have at our current place. However, since we are putting a dishwasher under the sink, we can't put another water heater there. So in the end, the gas heater seem to be the best solution for us all around.

He is not charging me extra for this so I don't have to worry He says the first time he check, he didn't realise it. Since its his fauly, he will absord if there is any additrional cost But like what you said, I went to ask my friend who is in the construction business and he says the same thing as my contractor. I was just concern for you. But if your contractor is confident, the it sure me fine. maybe my contractor too Kiasu!

More Carpentry! Under this window will be more cabinets. I will also change the doors of the DB cabinet on the right to the same laminate as the rest of the Living/Dining & Kitchen. This entire wall will also be full of cabinets including the TV feauture wall. The cove lighthing will follow the length of the capentry.

Custom Made Dining Table Our dining table will be the same material as the solid top that we will be using for our Kitchen counter table. It will follow the rectangular shape of the cove lighting above except it will end at the wall dividing the Kitchen from the Living/Dining. Under this window is where my sink will be is located. The wall on my right will be where my 600mm hob & hood is placed. Opposite that of my hob & hood is a floor to ceiling cabinets containing my 6 doors fridge, steam oven & toaster+hot flask. The steam oven & toaster/hot flask will be covered using the Blum Aventos series of hinges. In fact, my entire set of Kitchen cabinets hinges will be Blum.

Isn't Cotton White also White? I choose the colour Cotton white, thinking it will be a "warm" white and it will blend in with my off white capentry in the living & dining room. But to my "horror", I realised its far from white. Hubby said its alright and does gives the house a "homely" and "warm" feel. I am not so sure... Here is a photo of the bomb shelter door which is white verses my wall. The difference is quite obvious. Let me know what you think Told Dennis, my contractor cum ID that I am so shock by the colour. I ask him why he didn't call me when he saw the colour. He thought I knew it will be such a colour. I ask him if I can change the colour even though everything were painted. He got a shock, but agreed if it was really that bad. Actually it is really not that bad. The colour grows on you. Also, I am not an unreasonable person. At the end of the day, I am the one who choose the colour, so no one else to blame but me

Hi rainmok, I PM you the details. Check your in box

That is a nice looking sink Check out Rigel website as well. They have quite a few good looking ones.

Spoke to Dennis, the only thing he can do is to re-route one of the pipes so its parallel to another pipe. He will box us as much as he can and paint the pipes the same color as the wall for those that can't be boxed up. The "Nihon" Railways is a result of the fact that we not only have a gas heater for the water, we also have a gas dryer & using pipe gas. On top of it all, we also have hot water for the Kitchen sink, which most local households do not have. My husband insist that our domestic helper use hot water to wash dishes. So no choice

The range on display is quite limited. The website has a better display of sinks. Before you go down, its better to ask them if they have that particular sink you want on display, otherwise it will be a wasited trip, like for us. Also there have very limited stock, so you may 1. Not be able to see the physical goods. 2. have to order in advance. It may take 3 to 4 months for the sinks to arrive.

So far, there is no change to the amount Dennis quoted me Though I have some extra things (pretty small things actually) I ask him to include, he didn't charge me. There are also some things that I am no longer doing (also pretty small, like no more counter top in the bathroom). Will keep everyone updated on the final cost. Think will know this Friday.

Hi there, I hope you don't mind me asking whether is it safe for your glass tempered door to be attached to a false wall? My contractor was concern that the weight of my 10mm tempered glass will not "hold" on the false wall, so he actually attached a tempered glass against the false wall and attached the door to the tempered glass.

We are definitely DIE HARD Ikea Fans If you have been reading my blog, you will know that the thorn in my side for this entire renovation is those bloody bathroom sinks! We have travelled all over Singapore, even to some ulu area near Upper Thomson Road (we went to sansei) to check out sinks. But alas, lady luck is not shining on us. So we have decided to get the expensive $300 Ikea sinks and get Dennis to cut it to out requirements. Here is the picture of the Ikea sink For the main bathroom, in order to flush the sink & bottom cabinet againist the 43 cm in width wall, Dennis is going to cut the top of the sink such that the top and bottom spacing of the sink is equal. We will place the tap in the centre of the flat surface. For the common bathroom, Dennis will cut the flat surface so that the length of the sink fits into the short 75 cm in length wall. So YES, we are willing to spend $600 on bathroom sinks from IKEA

Haha! Annjoy, your description is so spot on! Just found from my hubby that the Japanes Railway system can't be helped as hubby wanted hot water at the sink. But Dennis said he will think about its again and let us know if it can be changed or alternatively, Dennis will get his guys to paint the pipes white to blend in with the wall walls. See how...

Over or under mount? If under mount, can check out Bellari. their prices are quite reasonable. If overmount, check out Rubine's website to see if any of the sinks suits you. You can go down to Poh Joo to purchase or order it. Look for Benjamin, he is the boss. Tell him Fiona (Dennis is renovating her home) recommend you there. Hope you find one that suits you

I found this link on The Building and Construction Authority's (BCA) national yardstick for measuring the workmanship quality of building projects. It provides a list of common complaints after constructions. Might be useful for those who will like to do a proper QC or basic knowledge. http://www.bca.gov.sg/Publications/Enhance...ent_series.html

Bidet Spray, Anyone? Hehe... Dennis finally manage to find the location to install the bident spray so I am happy with the results The location can be found on the right side (if your are sitting on the toilet bowl) of the toilet bowl in both bathrooms.

Why must they run the copper pipes over my aircon pipes? Can't they run it parallel?!? Two copper pipes, one to the gas cooker hod & another to the sink.

What Is This?!? Its SOOOO Ugly :( I have not really been going to the house to see what has been done as my hubby is in China at the moment & I am busy at work. Plus I trust Dennis to do what is right after he communicated with my hubby on how he wish to run all the pipes in the house. Including the gas pipes. But to my horror! The gas pipes are all over the place! Its such an eye sore! Why are there so many pipes in my yard ?!?! Bending this way and that way? I understand we have a gas heater & gas dry plus another hot water pipe going to the Kitchen sink. But seriously?!? It looks like a bunch of copper pipes just landed in my back yard. Wanted to call Dennis immediately to ask him what is going on behind the yard but... I don't know what was his dicussion with my hubby on the gas pipes so don't wish to be KPO. Will wait for hubby's return tonight to see what he says... See the photos and be the judge. Ugly isn't it? Anyone has any advise? Maybe there is a neater way? Or worst case, paint it over in white?!? This is how my yard looks like Why is there a bloody bent?!?

Rain Shower @ Half Price [/u] As I mentioned in my previous post, I took Dennis advise to retain the current mixer in the bathroom and only bought the pipe, Rose rain shower & the "U" shape thingy in order to get my Rain Shower or Overhead shower as some might call it. Total Damaged per bathroom $150+ Also, Dennis contractors are very careful to ensure they remove & replace the pole/pipes properly so no holes can be seen. Before Pole was Removed After Pole was Removed/Before Installation of Pipe for Rain Shower & Rain Shower Final Product! Swee Swee

Chrome Rose Rain Shower Remember the big hoo-ha over my Chrome Rose Rain Shower? In my great haste to exchange, I didn't take any photos of the cheap china made Rose rain shower that was delivered to me. Instead I only took photos of the Rose rain shower that I eventually exchanged. The difference between the china made Rose rain shower and the european version is very obvious. The weight of the china made ones is equal to a plate of Chicken Rice whereas the european version weights about 3 kg to 4 kg. Also the look of the china made version is very generic Quite ugly actually. Also I suspect they gave me a used version as there was lime scale on them! Anyways... here is the final product.
