    I don't understand lei. I haven't seen long GE for some time. Haha!

    At last! I am back. I am very very busy lately due to a screwup by my "high tech" Samsung washing machine. Really a piece of "ShXX"!

    I need to thank Patrick for coming down early on monday morning to change the washing machine inlet himself. Wa! Super steady Patrick can do it. LOL! I never ask him whether he is a plumber before he become boss or not. Within 5 mins, he settle and go. The missing power point is attached easily by the electrician..hehe! Very steady!

    My so call washing machine is not so steady liao. Tried washing my clothings during the full load then realise water drain out 80% but cannot drain out. Bo pian call Samsung technician down...

    1st technician came down tell me my washing machine base is not flat and is tilted..Well, I tell him bull****! Washing machine got 2 legs can adjust one mah...The technician tell us even after adjusting the 2 legs, still not able to compensate as my base is badly tilted...He told us his eyes can see the tilting...haha! I wanna laugh my head off. He then place to piece of tiles on the rear of my washing machine and say done...

    I am super pissed off and I asked Ho Bee guys to help measure the flatness of the washing machine base. After measurement, there is no uneven or tilting..#$%$%#$%$#%. Call Samsung service center and complain to the supervisor in charge...The supervisor assured me he will send his best guy down to have a look...

    Idiot! Trying to resolve this issue for 3 days liao also cannot solve...Sian 1/2. At last, the so call best guy "Sifu" come down. In my mind, i am so happy so this time surely the best guy can solve...1st thing tell me I load too much clothing into the washing machine already...Can only load 50%. Then he start telling me, the washing machine can only take 10kg capacity (10kg = clothes + water, not clothes)...Wa lau!!!!!%#$%^$%^$%^$! Idiot lei!

    Why I disagree:

    1) Washing capacity = clothes loaded mah...

    2) A washing machine average consume 70l of water per wash which weighs 70kg already...Dunno what he is talking about lah...If a washing machine can only take a load of 10kg (water + clothes), then company close down liao...

    Next, he tell me water cannot drain out because of drainage hose too long and drainage pipe on base too tall...Really really sian..

    1) I told him the 1st technician already cut away > 50% of the original hose already...still too long?

    2) The drainage pipe on base is standard length one mah....My contractor build so many water outlet, will build wrongly? Anyway, I ask him what is the correct height...He say he dunno...Kana Sai! Dunno what is the correct height still say ppl's outlet too tall....Wa Lan! Experience expert...PUI PUI PUI!!!!!!!!

    Anyway, call the manager and say thank u very much, please take the washing machine back and please dont even come again...haha!

    Well, need to wait for them to take my washing machine back and then buy a new one...

    Bo pian lah...Next one maybe try panasonic inverter...

    Really rush like a mad dog these few days...Really have to thank Patrick for his patience in supporting this stupid washing machine saga...

    Reno almost complete. Now left with ceiling because I decide to remove part of my false ceiling to cater for a ceiling fan...Last phase...Chiong ah!!!!!

    they give 5 years warranty against workamnship.

    Actually I kana a screwup lei. My washing machine once put in, it blocks the door bcos the washing machine inlet is obstructing. Also, electrician never build a power point for washing machine. Aiyo! So cockup! Initally, there is a PowerPoint but electrician remove it lah. Kana sai! Tell patrick already but the cute thing is 6 pairs of eyes all never spot this mistakes lei. Me, my wife, my mum, Patrick, electrician, carpentry at can't spot! Haha! Huge screwup but dunno point finger to who.

    Can advice what size of ceiling fan is suitable for living room?

    What brand is recommended?

    what are the factors to look out for?

    I am totally loss...

    Who is suppose to install fan? The shop u purchase from or your own contractor? Still must buy bracket outside? Sounds dumb lei. It is like your sell fried rice without frying it. Haha!

    For those who install ceiling fan, do we have to follow the HDB guide? Seems like most dont meet the weight specs.

    Installation of ceiling fan Weight of fan should not exceed 6 kg

    Clear height from finished floor level to fan blades should be at least 2.4 m

    Hardened steel expanding bolt should not exceed 8 mm in diameter and penetration depth of steel plug should not exceed 40 mm

    did they do a special compartment besides the utensil tray??? my tray is like nowhere!!! cos its too small for the drawer and i gonna return to long-ge!!! :(

    just came back from ikea, bought a lot of modular container to do up the compartments now...

    Still any one out here know about Ho Bee warranty period?

    I really want to know since I have few place need to be fixed, but I am wating cauz my house need to be organized before starting anywork.

    (still many things on the floor, unorganaize)

    I don't thin I can find on his invoice or quotation. I forgot to ask him about it. So basically its verbal agreement.

    Let me make one more comment, I would rather pay money on time for each phase than He and his contractor do their works wrongly.

    Yes, he is easy going with payment schedule but that won't help the quality of work. Qulaity is very subjective but least, 1. Don't damage the

    original furnishings. 2. Communicate well with contractor so don't waste time for re-doing works. 3. Least clean up the place to original condition.

    I believe the above 1,2,3 is minimum requirement of good quality work. Think about it if this is your car,

    1. After pass your car for glooming and polishing, car being returned scrathced and dented.

    2. You asked repair shop boss to fix dents but not sratches, but their worker fixed all and you are being charged for both.

    3. After completion of repair, your car being returned muddy, oily condition, and without vacume cleaning.

    Its very funny that if car being treated like this, I get pist and demand them for thier responsibility, but when home,

    I feel like I need to give in and let it go, haha. even house is x times more valuable asset than car!! Very Strange.

    May be for home, it is not easy to tryout several renovation compnay. (I die $$ if I try even 2 more for my house for whole works)

    So we do not have sense of quality standard in this line.

    Well, it is like this...I feel it is extremely difficult to meet a good contractor.. What I can say is I met up with contractors many time worst..I think it is time someone like Radac/ HDB flex their muscle but sad to say, I dont think possible

    agree with all your points!!!! particularly clean up and management of contractors.

    i nearly died when they installed the wrong solid surface for me. but in the interest of time, i did not demand a change. now living with the permanent eye-sore.

    another mistake they made: they proceeded to varnish all my doors, although i went through personally with them that i do NOT want to varnish doors. spent $500 for nothing since the varnished doors look the same as before.

    moral of the story, must put everything in email. no verbal communications. i could not even get any discount.

    What is the issue of solid surface? Did the carpenter write the wrong color? They pass me a box of samples to choose and to my surprise, the one I selected is different from the samples they have on hand. Wow! The copy they loan to us is a bit old liao. Lucky my tank itchy open up their version to check. If they make wrongly, ask them to change.

    As for your door, if you didn't tell them to varnish and you didn't ask them to quote before hand, don't pay lah. Not your fault right?

    As for cleaning, they did clean for me and I intend to ask them to clean again when everything is done n all minor stuff are rectified.

    I heard from a friend to get a 3 burner hob rather than 2 burners. Cos 2 burners hob will effect relationship between you and husband. Is it true?

    I thought kitchen layout only will effect family health, advised by Master Chang.

    If you have engage master chang, then it is ok to ignore your friend unless he is master chang's teacher. For any queries, it is good to ask master chang. I don't recall him tell me must have 1, 2 or 3 burners but he is concern with the stove position.

    hi i got a question, i recently purchased a 4 room hdb resale and it already came with a 3 unit mitsubishi a/c system in all the bedrooms.

    I was thinking of 2 options but not sure about the cost.

    1) Replaced the sys 3 with a new sys 4 invertor with all bedrooms and living room airconditioned.

    2) Keep the current sys 3 and change the position of the aircon units and replaced all the trunking + install EuropeAce portable aircon in living room.

    The current sys 3 is only 2 years old.

    Which will be the ideal choice and how much for both options roughly?

    Probably the 1st is to ask what is your expectation? Will you on your living room aircon often? Do u need the aircon to be very cooling? Do you have a budget limitation. These are following alternatives:

    1) Install new system 4 invertor. Probably $4500. Just my estimate from what I check from shops. However, I don't think u can on all 4 fan coil at the same time. Probably 3 room or 2 room + 1 living or 1 room + 1 living. This is what I am told by some sales.

    2) Leave the current aircon as it is and no need to change trunking etc unless they got issue. 2 years not considered old. Add a system 1 for your living room. I am not very fond of those portable system. They are really weak despite some salesman tell me they are very good. To me, rubbish unless their compressor is huge like those system unit. Adding a system one should cost u less than $2000.

    Wahahaha! Patrick also haven collect money fr me n I'm running away!!!! Change lock this sat!!!

    It's the little things that Patrick doEs that u will be touched lor, my reno started wen I was overseas! My tenant moved out 1 day after I left n Patrick started work immediately. Every thing was in the cabinet! Cookware, utensils, plates, kitchenware n electrical stuff, plus tv, home theatre system, fridge... The house was fully furnished. Patrick removes these things for me n packEd nicely in the storeroom! I only know I want to reno n forgot about removing these stuff, no words fr Patrick n no asking for cedit, he removed them!

    My granite was scratched, he sent his workers to resolved but can't, so he is changing for me now!

    Hobee has busy schedule, of course there's a reason. My friend can't stop praising him! He did not even go to see his reno, patrick overlooked everything n did a fantastic job!

    I did glass doors for my 1st house n now for my this house, 1st one done by Id, the quality is different! Of course I'm very pleased w patrick's! N i have a lot of things to hang, pix frames, paintings, curtain tracks etc... W such busy schedule, his wotkers still help me tofinih up... Every reno is problematic one... So relax... TAke it easy mate...

    seriously speaking, contractors etc are very difficult to deal. Extremely difficult. I never ever met anyone who never have a problem with contractors/ ID unless you are those rich and famous or some solid lawyers. Usually contractors are more vocal as compared to any professionals because they are train this way.

    I ever clash so bad with my ex contractor till I nearly ask my friend to issue him a lawyer letter. End of the day, they don't care about lawyer letters bcos worst case, die only lor. Those were the days where I am a young chap. Now I am in my early 30s and probably I have learnt already from my mistakes. I always try to mingle around with the contractors/ workers which I try to speak more hokkien, buy them drinks, don't push them so hard. Then when something happen, I don't raise my voice and threaten them with lawyer letters which works much much better.

    Any issue happen, I just tell them nicely saying cannot accept etc and they will gladly do it for me. I won't say Ho Bee are perfect but rather they have some pride in their work. There are definately some miscommunication because there is no black and white drafted, 3D, 2D drawing etc but so far, still acceptable.

    One great thing about Patrick is he never asked me for any $. He started even before I make my 1st payment due to time contrainst and after a couple of days, I have to personally call him over to collect the cheque because I feel he already carry out too much work. My wife and I are so "pai seh" that we have to be automatic.

    It seems to me that Patrick has disappear since I engage him but my mum who is helping me monitor my proj told me Patrick is at my place every couple of days to have a look at the progress. Haha! Seriously, I am very surprise because he is someone who rarely speak a lot but yet do a lot of things behind.

    Just my personal experience and I hope my proj will complete smoothly within the next one week.

    Now you know why I only change 1 of the 2 hinges (small door).... or 2 of 4 (big door).... else, need to push hard to start the closing process... and takes FOREVER!!

    ... and my family and I don't slam things.... it's a culture thing. If I do, then maybe need to change ALL the hinges :)

    now I understand bcos I close it very lightly. Lucky my carpenter install one antislam only. Haha!

    I wonder, is it safe to post the FS layout that Master Chang drew for us? OTOH, it should be keep "secret" but when I look again, there's nothing secret about it actually. Maybe I will show it to you during Coffee-O session :)

    - There's no beam in the kitchen ..

    - Kitchen is abit short of natural light. The kitchen door is around 1.2 m width? In front of the kitchen door is immediately the stove. Interestingly Master Chang asked us to put "black" solar film to the kitchen door, maybe since I'm the chef of the house and due to both of our bazi's.

    - MBR is said not a very good location to sleep. Bedroom 2 and 3 are better. So, we combine the MBR and Bedroom 2. MBR is study room.

    - Windchime is located at the corner of front foyer.

    - Then there are 3 locations for sea salt and also 3 locations of plants.

    - House is blocked so not much wind coming in. Even so, Master Chang asked us not to open the "right leaf" of the window.

    this plan is drawn by myself so no secret lah. Just don't release the version drawn by master with lots of lines. Thinking back, I still own bro bepof a photo. Haha!

    As for my room with partition, my bro is staying there temp while he is waiting for his new house. Initially, master mention better for his bed to move to the current side but it sort of clash with door. He is happier there with the partition bcos it gives more privacy.

    No issue with air flow bcos there is wind, fan plus my whole house Excep kitchen is fully aircon.

    For my cabinet doors (wardrobe and kitchen) - I just change 1 (small) or 2 (full length) of the hinges to a cheapo damper hinge that the carpenter has.... if you wanna a brand... there's MOBILE stamped on it.... cost only $1.5 each. The hinges that come with my cabinet are from HAFELE

    I have installed all the Blum hinges and it seems like u need a large force before the door will swing close. Anyone have this experience?

    I think im the rare unlucky ones who got very bad experience from hobee :-( ...i do not want to talk about my incident just yet...just full with frustration and anger..

    if it is convenient, pls share. Reason is bcos some contractor used to be good but due to some reason become no good. Some even close down so I believe we have a chance, we should share and prevent things from happening.

    I feel we should share the pro n cons of every contractor so that we can prevent ppl from getting trap.

    my FSM different. he told me not to do it, cos it's like a blade right in the middle. not good.

    can share who is ur fsm? Most will say block bcos I show plan to 3 fsm before. Direct door / window facing is no good. One of my friend didn't put bcos she mention fsm says her house qi very good

    Sorry, i forgot to mention one important principle in geomancy as to house:

    Imagine a U-shape, you are at the inner bottom of the U, facing the "open", left, right & back with "support" - this is an excellent 格局 (translated as "setup" ??). This 格局 is actually a reflection of chinese star constellation(4 symbols): Emperor sat within 北斗 cart, with stars surrounded Him:

    Whether to a hall/room/tomb/building, etc this principle applies: L,R,B has "support", F- clear view. Furniture must be placed against the wall = got support!

    To ngunadi & htng: must understand chinese calendar's working principle first before knowing why can't do this & that in chinese 7th month. B4 understanding calendar must understand the motion of Sun, Earth & Moon,as well as the 10 stems & 12 branches and the 60-cycle stuff. Understanding chinese characters is a plus. I'll try before 10/8/10(new moon) to 24/8/10(full moon)
