  1. HI Shanbis, yes the granite top is from another company. Classic should be ok with you not getting the granite top from them. However it is definitely more convenient if you get from them.
  2. Yah man! There are so many holes here and there. Then comes the silicon sealer - the saviour! Our contractor was patching all the holes/ gaps along the skirtings today. Almost all the different people doing our flat reno uses it - the granite top man, the carpenter, the plumber, the contractor etc. It's really very useful!
  3. Oh, Fernvale Grove comprises the 436 and 437 blocks. It's next to the LRT station. I see you're from 403 that side! My side is Fernvale Court, comprising the 438 and 439 blocks. Our sliding mirror door has an aluminum frame around it, so it's very sturdy and stable. I think if your contractor did his job and fabricated the door well, it is surely strong, so don't worry!
  4. Near the AMK swimming pool ah, I roughly know where it is. Yah, before I chose this unit, I think that Fernvale is an ulu place and I totally won't even look at it. Then relooking at it as I was searching for a new flat, I find that it is not that bad afterall, with all the developments coming up. And I was glad I bought it just before HDB upped their prices sharply in 2007!
  5. Yes, I'm from 439A. You're welcome! By the way, Creation Air provides an 8-year workmanship warranty. AMK is a great place to stay! I lived there for about 28 years before moving out last year. Lots of good food and heartland shopping. I supposed your block is one of those newer tall ones?
  6. Neat and practical layout. Would be easy to place your furnitures. Where's your location?
  7. Hey Adidas78! Welcome and congrats on your new place. Jason is a very nice and easy to talk with person. He was one of our shortlisted contractors too but we decided to choose another contractor which was recommended by a friend. For aircon, you need not use the one your contractor recommended but coordination is probably easier if your contractor "bao" everything. Anyway for me, I ala-carte and hands-on quite a bit for my renovations so it was ok. The "insurance" you're referring to should means the extended warranty? Well this is subjective but I personally didn't get any. I used Creation Air Pte Ltd and find their prices and service quite good. The guy is Zen Tan. He's a down to earth and quite reliable person to me. Can call him at 9009-0202 if you're interested. No commission for me but just say the guy at Sengkang Fernvale who got a system 3 and system 1.
  8. Thanks BunBun, and thanks for your advice!
  9. It also functions as a mirror, that's why we chose it over glass.
  10. That's the sliding door of our walk-in closet.
  11. And here's some preliminary photos of the feature walls painted mainly by my BB... Living Room: Master Bedroom: As you can see, it's all very bare now.
  12. Fernvale Lane? Does that means your block is at Fernvale Grove? The renovations should be completed by end of this week.
  13. Hey Rasp, It's quite fast once things started to pick up. Been "high intensity" for us since last weekend when we started painting the walls. Yeah it's black galaxy! So it'll be maroon red, black and silver for our kitchen! More work to be done before we move in... cleaning! Everywhere is so dusty now.
  14. It was another tiring day for as we continued painting the walls. My wife almost painted the entire feature bedroom wall all by herself. The aircon guys came and installed my 4 aircons. The electrician team came and installed all the lights, and fix up the various switches and points. Phew! Another day to go for painting... The walk-in closet and shoe cabinet will be installed on Monday. All my furniture will also be coming next week!
  15. Haha thanks newnyew! Which block are you from? Yeah would be good to have a gathering!
  16. Thanks Lise! How's your reno progress going? Carpentry would usually be one of the last to be done.
  17. Fridge will be on the left of the cabinet. Will show the photos when we have moved in!
  18. It costs $160 per foot run for the top cabinets. $180 per foot run for the bottom cabinet. Not cheap but for this price, we're getting 2mm thick high gloss Formica laminates, and it's on both sides of the cabinet doors which makes the doors very solid. Coloured polykem interior. Anti-slam system for the doors and drawers with 3-way tracks. And the workmanship is good! It is certainly worth it. They were fabricating the kitchen at their factory over last weekend I think. Arrived at 10am on Thursday morning and chop-chop start their assembly and installation. Even got time to take a nap during lunchtime. Finished up all by 6plus.
  19. Thanks! You're right, the fridge will be on the left next to the cabinet.
  20. Some more photos of my almost completed kitchen.
  21. As promised, here are photos of my almost completed kitchen! The protective cover on the laminates are not removed yet. The granite top will be installed next week, with the hob and sink.
  22. Classic Furniture has done theirs. Now left my granite top to be installed next week, with the hob and sink!
  23. Those are the same tiles as yours, all from HDB. Maybe earlier. See how it goes!
  24. Yup, we have a tendancy to be hands-on, but it's also wanting to cut costs in areas which are possible. It does makes us treasure the place more I guess. The place should be more or less ready by end of next week! Yes, it's Formica laminates! The 2mm thick high gloss one. It is more costly than the usual type. I think you can actually request for that from your contractor and you may need to top up the cost depending on your contractor. We engaged Classic Furniture which is a kitchen specialist and they solely use Formica Laminates for their kitchens, hence it comes at a premium price too.
  25. Different meh? Maybe you have mistaken the corrugated paper floor protection for the floor tiles!
