  2. Hi coolerpod,

Thank you for your message! :) I tried to reply you but your inbox is full.

My ID is actually charging me $450 for the db box, so I thought it is too expensive for just one little box. Did hear of people being charged for the amount you mentioned but not sure how true. Did you renovate your place using an ID but use the mentioned electrician separately?

Sorie for the late reply. U gt mail :)

  4. Hi all,

I have an urgent query and hope you can help me.

If I want to change the DB box for my resale HDB flat, should I rewire the whole house at the same time? Or can I just simply change the DB box without any rewiring?

What's the correct way to go about doing it?

    Please advise.

    Thank you!! :D

    Hi there,

Since it's a resale flat and if it's more than ten over years,my advice is that you should do a rewiring for your whole house and change a new DB and mcb as well. Juz change my DB and mcb,and got a good deal fm one of the recommend electrician here. Happy with their work :)

  5. Hi

I appreciate if I can get Mr Ong + Mr . Keong no. i found Mr Keong no. via reading all 4 post but not sure if still correct.

I just have a very small job to do up a few SCV points for both my parents home and my current new place. Not sure waht the going rate is, but I feel heart pain when I got quoted Starhub 150 per point!

    you gt mail :)

  6. Overall installation was smooth except there's some changes in the timing as they seem to have some scheduling problems.

The first uncle came around the scheduled time as confirmed and carryout the work smoothly, taking down the old doors and fixing up the correct doors to the correct rooms and accessories like levers and doorstoppers. The second uncle came just as the first uncle almost finished the doors installation. I then realized that he's the one to do the final finishing- painting and varnishing for the doors. Took about 3 hours to complete the installation and varnishing. :)

  7. hi

i've got some cracks on the corners of 2 of my kitchen wall tiles. I asked the development contractor to replace it but he says that if he does, it will affect the rest of the tiles, and at some future point, some of the tiles may even pop out.

is there any truth in what he says? or is he just saying that because he doesn't want to go through the trouble of replacing the tile?

i'd prefer it changed, but if it's going to pop out in a year or 2 time after the warranty period is over, then I'll probably prefer not to.

    any thoughts please?

Juz replace some loose wall tiles on my shower room and the uncle who helped us to do the job didn't replace those with cracks,he just plastered a thin layer of white cement over the cracks. We asked him to replace those with cracks but he said no need,so he just plastered over. He charge us $90 to replace a few tiles and do some plastering works which i find it to be quite ex..

  9. Help needed (Urgently)

Looking for curtain Rail/Rod that is to be fix on the ceilling not on the wall.

    Where can I buy?

    Hi,

Can go to ikea and get this curtain rod which you can fix it either onto the ceiling or on the wall. This is the only one which i came across and it's quite flexible in usage. :)

Can take a look at :http://www.ikea.com.sg/catalog/product_display.asp?art=30172797-22963-12-46-598989934-17215525

    Hope it helps.

  10. Just wanna share my personal experience with the forumers here.

Went down to Goodwork's office which is also their showroom this week and was impressed by their services including the uncle who attended to us while we were there. Not to mention sally who is so customer service orientated,we even got a few tips from her on the maintenance of the doors we are getting. Their prices are very competitive too.

Will be doing my bedroom doors installation next week. Shall give an update after that. :)

  11. Hi, i engaged Ah Keong for my reno and think that his service is super duper. Very pro, just look at the ID's drawing and he knows what to do and dun even have to wait for the ID to be there to start work.

Initially, was afraid that he might get everything done wrongly but when the ID reach, she also surprise by his work. Very humble guy too.

    MUST RECOMMAND!!!

Hi all,juz engaged Ah Keong(very nice and honest guy) for electrical works installation and wiring extensions. Was impressed by his team of workers who are very professional, detailed and patient especially when it came to problem solving of 3 lights during the installation phrase. The lightings.c**.*g company in balestier did not fully tested the lights though the sales person r**k say they did tested all lights before being delivered to the customer's home. Thanks to Ah Keong and his team, managed to rectify the fault and installed all the lights nicely. His cost was very competitive and got a good discount from Ah Keong when i decided to change my old DB box and mcb during installation. We are very happy with his team's installation work and attitude.

    Highly recommand yos :good:

  12. Thanks coolerpod

    Just called Diana

Pretty nice lady, no hard selling and was quite down to earth

Promise to give a quote tomorrow

However, still deciding on the brand

currently narrowed down to Starmex or Toshiba

    Any recommendations?

And also, i went to the official website and the installer is not listed as one of the authorised dealers.

Will this cause problems later like waranty issues and stuff like that?

    thanks in advance

Hi, i'm sure toshiba website theirs is listed as an authorised dealers,as i see their company name on it. My system 3 non-inverter is well registered under toshiba warranty,no worry on that.

As for starmex,i'm sure they are too,if not they will not be able to carry their products and do installation. Also they will give you the warranty cards for registration with your aircon brand company ;)

For me, i'm still prefer toshiba based on prices, country of manufacture, features of the aircons. In fact,i came to know this company from another forumer here.

You could PM me if there's anything i can help.

  13. Hmm just a difference for $10...

I think for me I will just forget about it...so far I am pleased with their services and all my lights are delivered promptly to my place today. My electrician will be installing the lights by tomorrow so shall see whether all of them work tomorrow.

Hi, how much your electrician charge you for the installation of each light ? I'm looking for a electrician to install my lights. Tia

  14. nobody knows any? i have tried asked my electrician, my painter, and they also got no lobang... maybe becos since hdb started using central common rubbish chute, the market demand for rubbish chute downsize quite considerably, thereby no service providers for this in secondary market? :-(

Just got a salesperson from a local metal work company to confirmed the damages for 2 toilet windows ($380)- aluminium bronze adjustable louvre glass panel and a stainless steel hdb flat type dust bin ($160) inclusive removal and installation. It has a 1 year workmanship guarantee for windows and bin. Is the price reasonable ? If you want the contact,i can PM you.

  16. Hi All,

My current aircon is giving me a lot of problems and its old, 6yrs.

I am thinking of getting a new system 2 and redo all the pipes and trunkings.

Need your help to recommend a good installer.

Also possible to recommend a good aircon brand?

I saw Panasonice with the self cleaning and allergy buster, is it really that good?

And i saw quite a few Mitsubishi Starmex fans out there.

thanks in advance for all your opinions.

    You got mail :good:
