  1. Hi freshpoison, you have any pictures of your reno? I m currently considering whether to engage Steven therefore would hope to see what he has done to your house. Hope your experience with him is a happy one. :)

    Hi,

My reno will only be completed b4 Christmas. HO will be on Christmas eve. Currently it's abt 50% completed so no photos worth showing yet. Will only post pics once everything is completed. I would say my reno has been smooth.

Steven has been very good, he is experienced and responsive. Dun hav any issues wif him as yet.

  2. Latest Update:

Dropped by on Tuesday for a peek with my ID.

All hacking done, think they are doing the cement screeding. Wall tiles for kitchen bathroom and common bathroom completed. Door frames are up, shifting of room doors also done...

My purchase of the recess area has also been completed so everything should move along quite smoothly.

Will drop by over the weekend and hopefully take some pics to be posted here

    Cheers~

  3. Yes, just tell them to bring you to see one of their projects. For my IDs, i did not specify what i wanted to see....... cos i wanted to see what they would show me without me telling them, sort of like act blur. The more savvy ones will know that they should bring you to see the things they would similarly be doing for you. Or if you want to be really specific, just let them know what you'd like to see, e.g. similar sized flat, similar layout, same things renovated etc.

Ultimately, go for a registered HDB contractor, someone whom you can trust with proven long track record. I've just heard another horrow story of my colleagues neighbour's contractor running off with their money leaving tools behind in the unfinished flat. It's a cruel world out there so "buyers beware".

Good luck in your search for your ID.

I made the same request to my ID abt viewing his projects. He told me not a problem BUT hw would I know whether the projects were really done by him?

Even if he brought me to someone else's projects and told me the projects belonged to him, I wouldn't know better. After thinking thru, I told him to skip the viewing part.

But that's me... :) so pls dun shoot me... :P

  4. Black bold line on floorplan means you cannot hack but if you have a PE = professional engineer to endorse & submit to hdb to certify, HDB will allow you to hack a portion depending on the wall structure etc. Mine house 5room in tampines is all bold black line, however i still managed to hack away my kitchen wall to make it open concept with the help of my contractor. Our dream came true

    Hi,

Did you pay for the PE?

  5. day3: site-visit by contractor and Aircon guys

Went through the floorplan with Edmund again, decided to reroute the bulky sewage pipe at the

    entrance to the showers.

Also went through the layout of the a/c trunking with the A/C guys.

They were experienced and were able to recommended solutions to avoid the unsightly clutter of a/c trunkings. Heeded Edmund's recommendation to having the Hall A/C fancoil at the rear of hall.

    Goodluck for your purchase.

I've also decided to get the aircon from Aron after his ppl came to measure yesterday

Hopefully he is as reliable as mentioned in the aircon thread... :D

  6. Currently still on target to complete under 50k (excluding electrical wiring) although purchase of white goods such as toilets, taps/sinks put a huge dent into the bank account. Three toilets is no joke.

    Yup

Tell me abt the 3 toilets thingy...

  7. These are the reasons why my reno will cost a bomb... :D Hopefully the place will look much nicer after the reno.

Will be starting the reno on Mon 18/10 while waiting for the purchase of my recess area to be completed. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything will progress smoothly.
