    luckily i stumble into this thread... also took a liking to a sofa i saw in FC IMM.

    But think will avoid the shop to save the hassle of complaining and getting or begging them to replace...

    forum is our only revenue for consumers to meet and discuss and share experiences.

    Govt won't be able to help much and they won't too, since they do not patronise these shops selling sofas at few K....

    we will have to help each other.

    glad we can help thru our miserable experiences

    The problem is not everybody is aware of this forum... My parents were interested in buying from Furniture Club. I had trouble convincing them of all these complaints about Furniture Club on the forums. There are many who do not have ample knowledge and believe that they are paying premium for Made in Italy furniture.

    Recently, Da Vinci got into a terrible mess. They were held accountable by the Chinese press for passing off China made stuff as made in Italy. I think this has helped errant China retailers from misrepresenting their products. We need consumer watchdogs to be more proactive in Singapore.

    well, we do what we can ...if not everyone is aware..it's our "duty " to make them aware. Case in point, your parents and whgat u said to them. If they do not look it up then tough....I know it's better to aviod than to seek a cure but what can you do? U have done ur part.

    As for consumer watchdogs.....in our society? it's a laughable event/institution. U have to become a member (PAY DUES FIRST) before they work for ya. And even then, it's suaion only ....no legal effect. Y do u think we have this "ah well, just write it off mentality?" It is up to the individual to pursue wat is a reasonable course of action. Please pay attention to reasonable. This term is pretty biased when used legally. How i know? Been there done that. I have taken an errant retailer to task and won. But it is a dollars and cents story here......cost effectiveness of legal action being the main concern.

    At the end of the day buy wisely..............

    Not true.....end consumers can always don't buy this brand....that's the idea of this forum....to exchange ideas and feedback. Unfortunaltey there are also peeps here with dubious intent. Anyways since we r a society with "caveat emptor" firmly enthrenced. The besatr we can do is help each other not to make similar mistakes and deliver a message to errant companies that they can pack up and go no love lost. Now if only those fellas wiht the fact digging skills into politicians lives can apply their skills here..I'll boycott every company related to FC

    After searching up and down for renovation contractor (not ID). I finally landed with a good contractor, extremely satisfy with their workmanship. Though i will not give 10/10 but I will definitely give a 9.8 out of 10 for the quality, material and workmanship of my contractor.

    You see, for people out there looking for renovation, I don't see much different getting an ID and and a good contractor. The key thing is a good contractor, and I think for a good one, it's not so many out there. I am lucky for my case as I engaged with a good contractor with very very reasonable price and quality of work... superb ! (in fact, without saying it's a contractor work, some of my friend is asking me which ID firm i am actually engaged with).

    It is better to approach Small Claims Tribunal if you want refund... CASE may not have the power to enforce refunds.

    Concurred.....CASE is toothless at best...to add insult to injury U have to be a member first before they entertain you. Tkae them to small claims is the best way. It's a pain I know,but it;s better than stressing yourself out by repeated calls to them.

    That's why this thread has been kept alive .

    I believe people are cultured enough,

    to not lie on a public forum,

    just to save a few hundreds.

    If you were to sincerely wanting to solve the issue,

    you just need to contact them for resolution.

    Hi All,

    I heard from one of my girl friend that she bought furnitures like sofa, tv console, coffee table and dining table set etc. Suppose to deliver in Sep 2009 but delayed to Oct 2009. On date of delivery, only dining table came. She waited another 2 months and some other items came but not all. FC asked her for payment. She demand for discount as she waited for so long and house warming was cancelled due to missing furnitures. FC refused and claim against my friend at small claim. Both parties went to court and apparently the representer from FC seems quite experience maybe due to the numerous visits to FC. My friend ultimately got a discount. The problem is that FC promise that they can deliver the good. Imagine you stay inside the unit and some furnitures are not in yet. You paid 50% deposit and the shop refuse to let you cancel the order...stuck!!

    I really dunno why FC likes to take their customers to small claims when they cannot seem to honour their end of the contract. Anyways ...not the first time I have heard of their methods....maybe we should avoid such hassle and just stop buying from them to begin with?

    Yes, I believe they are. I bought one earlier this year from an outlet at sungei kadut. I was torn between the KG and and a Domicil from XZQT. In the end i went with the KG and have no regrets. I'm no expert on furniture, but I find the leather that they use in their sofas to be of a much higher grade then many others I've seen being sold in other furniture stores

    good on you mate.....as long as you were happy with the $$$ spent, that's what really matters

    Ok, as promised, the full glory of my sofa set (reno not exactly done but its like 95% completed) :D

    Headrest for the rest of the seaters can be tilted up like the 1 in the center :D

    Oh..... did I mentioned a throw pillow of similiar leather to my sofa set and bearing the brand was well, 'thrown-in' ?? Not part of the deal but definitely a sweetener !! We did try to ask for 2 such pillow to be thrown in FOC prior but was rejected due to the high cost of it. Sales guy did offer other design of diff leather w/o the branding but we rejected it as well. Oh well....everything turns out well I guess, even though its only 1 but definitely unexpected (not forgettin we 've already gotten a coffee table retailing at about $7++ FOC) :P

    Yes sir seems like I do...I am a fair person but FC is da pits IMO. I really like to wish local businesses well, but some of them are just not well managed. But it's ok, seems like they are doing well enough and have some ardent supporters. :jawdrop:

    anyone ever been to FC to have them tell you their up mkt range is Italian? KG sofas i believe...

    Hi.. i always take photos on any of e items watever i place a deposit... n double -confirm e items n models, colour n etc many times with e seller..

    N i will tell them firmly if anything tat is not wat i had seen on wat exactly wat i wanted.. i will not accept e goods even though u they have deliver to my hse... i definitely will scream n yell at them.. they think we are too free to handle such a stupid mistake cause by them....!! think of it makes buyers BLOOD BOIL...

    Hope every1 buiyng things to be more cautious n details checking.. take time to verify with e seller n their attitude plays apart...

    that's a good idea actually...takign peectures and all...also do remember to keep the doposit amt as lil as possible to minimize pain , there is no such thign as standard.....all contracts are negotiable. No budge can don't buy :o
