  1. Ok these are the photos i have taken so far. Haven finished unpacking, cos still doing rectification this week. Will post more pics, review on the shops and service we engaged, mistakes and tips we have for the reno we did. Stay tune...

    Hey hey,

The house is looking good, slowly becoming a home! :) I like how your dining light and chairs are quite matching. Heh. Looking forward to your pics and review!

  2. Waah, there are are so many ways to remove stains and glue marks... *jotting down notes*... will come in handy.

Counting down to the weekend for you Samjie! You must be so excited. :D Can't wait for your pix!

  3. OMG!!! :o

Your "OLD" house SOOOO Nice :o

No wonder Jaskel *Headache* - to create a better house

    *faint*

    :o

    Kvn

Thanks for the compliment! :) In Jaskel's defence - it's not just up to him to make the new house nice lah. We must chip in also. :P Thought I'd better say something - before Jaskel have to pop more panadols, or have to buy up all the M&Ms in the supermaket to get enough of his 'blue pills'. :P We want you in one piece Jas!

  4. Lachesis, saw that u have 3 bins in the kitchen, S, M and L sizes. To do differentiated rubbish clearing?

U know after i shifted in, i look at the boxes and dun wish to unpack. Lazy. haha... So got my pt time maid to come and help. :D

LOL. The bins remind me of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. Haha. Actually each bin was for a different room.

L - Papa Bear Bin - for kitchen (the place with the most trash)

M - Mama Bear Bin - for MBR bathroom (also a lot of stuff to throw)

S - Baby Bear Bin - this one sort of floated around wherever it was needed. haha.

How many boxes did you have to unpack?? Yeah, thinking about it gives me a headache. Think we'll do it in phases - hubby's Home Theatre will be the top priority (boys cannot be w/o their toys!), then the PCs. Then clothes and toiletries. Then maybe pots n pans. Books should be the last.

    Hope you do not mind,

I will camp around your threads for a while :D

I've been advised by Jaskel to view your T-Blog

becoz my HDB@CCK is also an EA

and I was also considering to get Corian :notti:

    but... OMG... my budget... :jawdrop:

wondering if it is worth it or not...

    Kvn

Welcome to RT! :) Congrats on your purchase in CCK. As a fellow EA owner, you should read angelous666's T-blog - interesting conversation we had on 'why did you buy an EA ah?'

For the solid surface - explore your options. Seems LG is now almost as expensive as Corian... go figure. Oh, the hubby posted an interesting article on solid surface vs grante - go check it out.

Aiyo...what r u guys n gals thinking...so naughty :P I was referring to this blue pills...its good for destress and also make my mood happier.

    p1010792j.jpg

Hahaha... good one Jaskel. Lemme guess - you will open a bag of M&Ms, eat all the blue ones, then leave the rest behind??? :P Hahaha. I like the peanut ones, got more of a crunch. Hmm. Which explains why I prefer Snickers to Mars... and crunchy peanut butter to creamy peanut butter.. Hubby likes creamy, so I have to buy both types. Haha.

D.a.m.n this food talk is making me hungry!

  5. dude, you couldn't be more wrong, she just wants a free "mariah" :P

Haha, the hubby is correct. Maybe while you're here you can also help us scrub a few walls, floors... heh heh heh

eh, buay sai leh...blue pill may cost u to be distracted ;):notti:

Yeah Jaskel, you mean you eat the blue pill when you're stressed??!?!? :jawdrop: Your poor wife...

  6. Hi Both!! I love that kitchen you've got there! That rich and deep brown is just gorgeous.. :dribble:

must convince Hubby to go for this colour :thumbs up:

Thanks! Our contractor wanted to go with the two-toned kitchen cabinets, i.e. darker colour for bottom half, lighter colour for top half. We knew the two-toned concept was popular, but we weren't really that into it, and insisted on ONE colour throughout, telling him that the glass panels for the top half would break the 'heaviness'. And we were right. :sport-smiley-004: After it was done up he said 'Actually can hor...'

your old house is very nice!!!

can't wait to see how your new place will look like!! good luck!

    Thanks! Hee hee.

its weird when everyone start to comments on your old place is such a nicely done, it will just add more pressure to do it better than the last and this time round, your project is on an EA which is so much bigger! :D

Like others, im looking forward to see how your new home will turn out to be :P

Waaah, stress sia. Must really make sure the new place is super "swee". Time to put more pressure on the contractor... mwahahahaha...

you tot of no handles for yr cabinets back then.

you must be quite "in" huh

man, but i have lightings throwing out from my suspended kitchen cabinets lei.. how?

time to stock up those moth-balls!

oh pse, let me share the burden.

i will pack those boxes behind the stand-fan. ;)

Heh heh, guess we did up our place at when the craze for cove lighting was just picking up. For the overall design of the house, we were going for a sort of Zen look - straight, clean and simple. Think the most important thing in a design is timelessness. Especially if you're going to stay there for long-term. :paint:

Oh yes, buy more moth-balls! Heh. There's no doubt light coves etc have a really nice effect!

Thanks for the offer to help us unpack. We give you the address when the time comes - an extra pair of hands in the house will be very handy. ;)

  7. The Big Move - Part One (cont'd)

    D-Day - Monday 26 Jul

Woke up in the wee hours of the morning to pack all the last minute stuff (huh?!? still got stuff to pack!?!?). Good thing too, the movers came 1/2 hour early. We were really surprised when a team of about 8 guys showed up on our doorstep!

First stop - the in-law's place where we'll be staying until the new place is ready. Total - 4 boxes of his and her clothes (yes yes, more 'HERs' clothes than his.. :P ), personal stuff, shoes and other things we'll need in the interim.

Second stop - the warehouse, where our 50 something boxes and 30 over loose items got stacked onto pallets and shrink wrapped for storage.

Must say, the strength of these mover guys is amazing. They work so fast too! Turns out the team of 8 was actually two teams - since we were the first stop the second team tagged along and were dropped off along the way. Heh.

    2nd Appt - Tuesday 27 Jul

Went for our 2nd appt for our place today. We are now officially 'homeless'. Settled in at the in-law's, and partially living out of boxes. But we stayed here before, whehn we were waiting for the keys 7 years ago, so it doesn't feel totally strange. Must really thank my in-law's for being so nice and putting us up.

Plus, it isn't just us - it's us and our two cats! Heh heh. My in-law's dog has been having an interesting time following my older cat around. LOL.

So, we'll bide our time here... till it's time for the BIG MOVE - PART TWO... the move to Bishan. :)

p.s. the faster our reno is done, the faster we can move in.. *hint hint*

  11. The Big Move - Part One

Boy what a weekend. We've been packing room-by-room for about three weekends over the last month, took 2 days of leave last week. Yet it still felt like there was always something else to pack!

    T-2 days - Saturday, 24 Jul

All rooms packed. Dismantled all the AV equipment, bubbled wrapped and packed into boxes, TV disconnected. NO TV FOR THE WEEKEND! THE HORROR!!!

    T-1 days - Sunday 25 Jul

The last things to disappear into boxes - our PCs. NO INTERNET FOR THE WHOLE OF SUNDAY! THE HORROR!!! Went over to the in-law's to drop off the furkids first, and had dinner and watched TV there instead. Haha. Suddenly being able to watch TV was a luxury!

Here's how the house looked ...

  12. No...7 days is after the completion of rectification works.

    Cool :good:

Continuing the count down to the move out of Sembawang... 5 days...

    One more weekend...

And I'm suffering from infected tonsils! :bangwall: and flu-like symptoms... argh argh argh. Thankfully we've finished all the rooms, so we're just left with the stuff that is not going into storage. I credit our early packing to me - if left to the hubby he'll procrastinate till the very last minute. :P

It's 2.23am and fully awake, thanks to the meds that made me sleep through most of the day. Argh argh argh.

Am really hoping I'll feel much better tomorrow. Kick in meds, d.a.m.n you!

  13. Will also change my payment terms too....what u think about this payment terms? 10% deposit, 20% before wet works start, 20% after wet work completed, 20% after carpentry measurement, 20% after carpentry completed 10% after 7days of completion of project?

hehe...christmas came early this year! :P we like the terms :good:

we assume the 7 days is a buffer for rectifications?

btw pls check your e-mail, sent you some updates :)

  14. Gals, ask u all a question.

U all use disposable fork n spoons for yr guest when they come over for gathering/parties or use those metal ones?

Hmm. Depends. If it's a small intimate meal, home-cooked with tender loving care, then proper plates and metal cutlery.

If it's a big group, finger food-type or catered, then of course disposable plate/bowl/fork/spoon. No need to wash up just throw away! :)

  15. I must say this is one of the most difficult to get thru week since i have my first child. Got to travel quite a distance to work as compared to just walking across the road. Dun have a nice comfy bed but only a thin mattress to lie on. :( Work is piling like Mt Everest and still piling. Reno like 60% done but dunno the rest can be completed on time. Went up yesterday and saw that all carpentry are all up in my house now and colours of walls also confirmed. Went up to the house but camera now in the car so cant upload the photos. I am so far satisfied with the laminates chosen (all recommended by id).

When i went up today, the shiny marbled flooring greeted us. (polishing was completed). Then an opened kitchen window welcome us. :o Some carpentry are near the window and there is a puddle of water. Some carpentry are already wet at the bottom. So called the id and informed her. She quickly said that she will call the carpenters and check it out. We are wondering if the carpentry stuff can still be used? Hope this will not delay the HO. Must must shift in on the 24th.

Hope things get sorted out. Hang in there!

  16. But OMG I just realised I'm exactly one month to reno start date. Just last year I was complaining that it was such a long way off some more. o_O and yup, it's really strange as things progressively go into various-sized cuboids.

Woohoo.. one month to go till start of reno. :) Haha.. 'various-sized cuboids'- what will be even more fun is when the things have to come out of the 'various-sized cuboids'.. ugh....

Just packing the toys took one weekend--thank god my PILs were here over the weekend to 'gang' some of his gundams and transformers across to their place, BECAUSE THERE'S A WHOLE MOUNTAIN OF THEM, ALL UNDONE, STILL IN MY HOUSE!!!!!!! grarrr

    /Hulk SMASH wahahahahaha

*Imagining an angry green woman smashing up toys....* LOL

11 more days for you! You must be excited! Have you found a mover yet? And ya, I heard too, but change of plans... looks like we're watching tonight instead... Will let you know if it's good!

Yeah, pretty excited! It also feels surreal, like it hasn't really sunken in that we're moving out! Haha. Probably only really sink in after we've vacated the premises. A friend recommended Citimap, 'coz they do both moving and storage. Will see how their service is, heh heh.

    Enjoy your movie!

  17. Haha! Ya, still packing lor... My house is slowly turning into box-land... easier though now that my tenant has left... got the whole of the other room to stuff things into. Nothing much to update so far, except

Tomorrow going to choose tiles! Headed to Balestier after watching Despicable Me... maybe I should go order my lightings too while I'm there. Pity my friend is away on conference, otherwise I can ask him to join my hb and I for lunch, since it's his stomping ground for 17 years liao...

Welcome back! There was almost a week of silence... lol...

My house is also box-land now. Plus my buyers are coming over for the pre-2nd appt inspection tonight - think they will get a shock. Haha.

It's been an interesting experience, the packing I mean - watching your life disappear into boxes, and deciding what to keep and what to throw. Say, how many Sylvanian families do you have? :)

Have fun choosing tiles and lights! So exciting. Say, I heard Despicable Me is really funny... maybe should try to catch it too.

  18. sat is another long day cause meeting ID to make selection and purchases; but first stop is to lifestorey at tai seng again to cfm color and floor rugs with ID. Then tiles (think is hafary but hope to drop by SBH at toh guan too), lightings (hope to go lightings.com.sg) and if time allow, really hope to see Choo Chiang's swtiches while I'm at SBH.

Wear comfy shoes!! Have fun shopping.

so charge the digi camera, cause RT pics whoring is happening soon!

    stay tuned folks!

    Bring 'em on dude! :)

  19. hahaha...

Someone said : growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional. I am thinking men.

    ARE YOU THAT SOMEONE?

LOL. That sounds familiar though... is from a movie??

This one is good...heh heh heh

"Men are like fine wine. They all start out like grapes, and it's our job to stomp them and keep them in the dark until they mature into something you'd like to have dinner with." ~ Kathleen Mifsud

  20. personally i think i prefer the space than the facilities as i dun really use any of them.

singapore is quite safe liao, no need security lah. thats why i go for EA. ;)

Couldn't agree more! Space is very important for me... must walk into the house and have that 'Aaaaah' feeling.

Yeah, the reactions to our purchase ranged from... "Oh, nice area" to "Wah, why don't buy private"... Think we should tape our answers to the latter question and play back for the skeptics. Heh heh.

Ultimately, it's really what you value and what you want. As long as you're happy :D PEACE.

  21. The overall reno progress is quite OK IMO.. especially I add a few items last minute (LAN points for the whole house, change windows and grills, major change in kitchen cabinet design etc)

ID is quite responsive and able to make ajustment to keep the schedule! Thumb up for her! :good:

Hey there, glad to hear that things are going well. :)

Just realised that we bought very similar Hansgrohe stuff. :good:

My balcony is about the same size as yours.. what you planning to do there? :) I wish the balcony windows were bigger - i.e. the wall is lower so that there is more of a view. The nicest are those condo ones, with the full glass balcony. Oh well. :P

  22. BTW hor, how come we start chatting about dogs in ne0mesis blog again ah? :notti:

EXACTLY! hahaha.... but then come to think of it again, i think i instigated it.

@ne0 - yes you did! Either that or the Powers that be think you should get a dog.. heh heh

my signature must be very on the ball and updated man, otherwise ppl reading in this forum will have to read through certain number of pages about bitches and pussies.

    opps... hahahaha

I say again... MEN... *rolls eyes*...

  23. No budget le, if not will get those cleaning companies and movers instead of enlisting frenz' help le.. :(

Heh heh, really good friends you have! And wah, you'll be shifting in this Sat... only a few days more to enjoy your new home. YAY!

Dragon dance dun have.. Doggie dance ah? Hmmm... Try and see if can train my gal by this sat to do so? ;) Need to get the "lion head"? :P

Eh, I've seen a mini version of the 'lion head' being sold in Chinatown! Would be so cute if your gal can do the doggie dance for you!!! Kawaii!!!
