prices are comparable since they hvin sales now..

i only bought my dinin set from OM.. served by amy too... ya she is rather friendly.. but today i went, amy not in. its a guyy tat served me... very unfriendly lor.. haha..

in the end, i walk out... lol..

    super broke now.. arghh..

stil hvent found our sofa yet..

decided to switch from full leather to fabric instead..

    any reviews on massimmo ??

saw their webby .. like not bad... not sure if their prices are ex?

viewed some from OM today too.. erm, not bad too...

think tomorrow or next week wil go buy lightings and fans.. ned to check w my contractor..

    ..

btw, need FS advise..? anyone knows if i can place my sink basin opp my toilet in the kitchen?

and also, anyone undermount their sink basin for their kitchen?

I haven had time to take a pic of my sofa and post for u!.. will try to rem to get it done today.. :)

I actually went to massimmo too.. price wise i think a bit more exp than OM.. but they do have good deals occassionaly, check out their website.

but most of their sofa have low backrest, thats why i din get in the end.

which OM did u go too? I think the one at joo seng is a bit cheaper.. their outlet, and have quite good discounts.. my sales staff was amy, and i thought she was pretty helpful and thoughtful.. like i went back months later to get other stuff and she rememebered what i bought and suggested what she though matches what I bought previously.

  3. Ely & Sleek: Thanks for the welcome, but pls, mine is nothing compared to urs Ely!

adidaem & insane: yup, i guess one needs patience to do such things.

Used to be an Art Teacher so patience runs in my blood, haha... a seriously fatty blood stream..hehe..

Nothing is too difficult if u have the interest and well, this is after all my very first home!

n yes, talking abt the view, i can see half the Spore Flyer n fireworks during festive days.

we can work out a RT gathering at my place, jus like the old times with the old birds :)

MM & Jaskel: wa MM so u r still active here ah.. am still waiting to see ur done up place! pics pics pics??

& hor, dun think will reach 100pages again cos those chatty old birds aint here anymore hahaha!

Can the newbird be invited too!? :P

  4. hey... saw ur post.. thanks for popping by my blog :)

haha.. maybe its becoz of all my house problems... that sometimes when im home.. i feel a tad of sadness.. (especially since my wall tiles are still hanging dangerously.. and loads of masking tapes ard the house)

so ur house looks exceptionally happy with all the colours!.. hee

and i spot patrick on the glass door!.. i love patrick.. coz I think my hubby looks like him (thank god my hubby dont pop by renotalk!)

  5. anyone have experience with your granite top being "rough"

like.. its not smooth when i run my hand against it. There are parts of it which feels a little chipped on the surface.. rough...

i asked my ID.. he said its part of the grain.. but im not too sure..

some parts i even see deep scratches.. but reading the posts above.. shdnt it be quite hard to scratch? thats why we choose granite..

  6. OK. Let me discuss with my spouse.

Presently , the main door has a closer but it is like office type. Open then must use sth to stop.

    He hate that closer.

For this kind of door closer model.

It is only will lock at 90degree. Or user can adjust.

My shoes cabinet is just right behind of the main door (if open wide)

Then if want to close it. Will it be easy?

the cost i cant rem.. let me go home and check.. :D

yep... it holds the door.. as tvincent said.. the ball bearing will "lock" the door and hold it there..

    yep.. soft closing as well..

there is this plate behind the rectangle box... u can adjust the speed of the door "auto closing"

oso can lock more than 90degrees.. just have to adjust the ball bearing...

one thing to note.. which i did wrongly... when i was purchasing it.. my thoughts were on whether when i open the door.. will the rectangle box be too bulky and block/hit my shoe cabinet door...

i thought i was quite smart to make sure there is enough clearance...

but i forgot about my shoe cabinet door opening :o

so.. now when i open my left hand side shoe cabinet door.. it will hit the long arm .. :bangwall:

lucky my shoe cabinet door is top/bottom.. bottom one still can use.. top one.. can only open half..

  7. my contract states "tempered"

but if my glass does not have the logo/wordings printed "tempered" on it..

and ID cannot give me proof/confidence that it is tempered glass.. and for me to trust him...

do u think its ok to reject all the glassworks?

he has not been honest with my over the past 5 months.. charge a lot but give low cost quality stuff... so im kinda worried now..

  8. Thanks everyone for the tips about the WM! I wouldn't have known otherwise.

Dryers don't spin as quickly as washing machines, so they are less susceptible to moving around and (potentially) falling off the table. Nonetheless, I'll give that a go and see what happens.

Have discussed this issue with the family and have decided to secure the washing machine to the wall with a metal chain. Will need to drill the back of the WM to secure the metal chains. And then we will add some foam under legs to absorb the vibrations.

In other news, the balcony's done!

    5366501792_286e5af0de.jpg5365886685_bd7de3e613.jpg

You'd be surprised that the little strip contains 40KG of pebbles. I only bought 2 bags (10KG each) at first and had to buy 2 more... lucky the nursery nearby sells it. I think I still need 1 more bag, but that can be done some other day.

wow.. never really seen any balcony with grass look.. looks cosy and interesting~ like a garden of your own!

on another note.. ur contractor sounds like a total headache too...

  9. by the way.. any idea how long shd we get the warranty for waterproofing?

i just did a complete overhaul... and my fren advised me to ensure the contractor provide waterproofing warranty.. I need to speak to him before i give him my final payment... so just wondering if anyone has that in the contract and what are the terms like...

    e.g.

    - warranty all restorative works including.. labour.. materials... etc..

  10. wow the bicycle clock is so nice la... but the clock mechanism will work or not...haa.... not so sure...

heard art friends sell clock mechanism. :) Or can dismantle from a cheap ikea clock?

do post on your blog if its successful ya..? :)

Pallet is free...just drive around industrial areas on wk ends...and steal... thats how i got mine.... :P

hmm.. i dunno if the clock mechanism will work!.. need to find one.. shall check out artfriend and spotlight when my house is more or less rectified..

i hope it works.. will post if i manage to do it... =p

the pallet part is a bit of a problem for me.. haha.. me and my hubby both ride bikes... so.... even if i see one~... i cant steal it!

  11. wow... impressed with ur DIY!

me and hubby wanted to DIY a couple of things actually.. but coz of all the reno headaches my ID gave us.. we kind of pushed it aside..

  12. Hihi!

I use to have very bad acne problem too!

To the extend that I had to stop working for 2 weeks because of acne problem..

(job didnt allow me to have any acne coz it is a frontline job)..

Then I changed my lifestyle, make sure i am asleep between 12midnight to 3am (sleep before midnight),

drink more water, eat more vege and fruits..

And also, sometimes I think supplements play a part too..

My girlfriend introduced me a supplement and it helped my skin tremendously.

Also, skincare that you use might lead to skin being irritated too..

I changed my skincare too and things got very much better!

    Hope this helps :)

I understand the frustrations of acne..

    Hope you recover soon!

    Best wishes in 2011!

    what supplements are u taking?

i use to have ok skin.. but recently coz of the ID and my house.. really stressed out...

stress.. + irregular meals (to monitor the reno) + comfort food (chips and coke) is killing my skin..

  13. Hi, Always happy.

Hmmm... now you make me think... Why do you think it's not possible to extend the living area into the kitchen that much? Just wondering... My contractor told can do, maybe I should question him..? :)

    .....

But anyway, please let me know why you think it's not possible to extend the living into kitchen. We actually intended to rise the floor, and lay parquet in that area. Now there is 100mm drop right after kitchen door. So, contractor will increase floor in half of the kitchen. What do you think?

I increase my living space into my kitchen too.. for a dining area.. but not a whole lot... rise the floor in that area...

Rem my contractor mention something about HDB regulation can only cover up to a certain area... like 1/3 or something.. but i cant rem the specifics..

Do ask ur contractor and see if he got any answers for u!

i got 2 pull out wire basket from hoekee.. at $100+ i think.. the pull out system/rail feels quite solid.. but i haven really live in and use it to the extent to give a verdict on how good it is.. u can check it out.. i think its def useful to put my big pots and pans to dry them...

looking forward to checking out ur start of ur reno!

  14. Wow u very daring, going all out on the industrial look. initially wanna go this direction but wife find it too cold..

so we are going for dashes of funky colors~

ha.. my hubby wanted it.. and i was worried it will be too cold too..

he made some adjustments to cater to me..

actually.. its almost complete.. and it doesnt feel cold.. in fact.. it feels quite cosy.. haha..

dashes of colour sounds great!... we also try to do a bit of that.. so i have a ferrari red door.. some yellow pieces of accessories (clock/stool).. and some vibrant oil paintings :)

    all the best! :D
