  1. Just spoken to the IO from AMK of my case. He recommend me to rally for others who are "cheated" to lodge a formal report. if the public interest is affecteded, they will invite our freinds down for kopi. Any report will do Small Claim Court or Police so that the information can be in the database.

    Hi Fishingdog,

What is your case actually? You may wanna share with the rest of the forummers here?

So that people will be careful not to trust this company...

They have never contacted me since, and of cos no 3D plan as KELVIN promised.

As someone who believe in KARMA, I will take it as I have owe him $300 somewhere in time... so just give it to him....

I am not going to waste more precious time, money and happiness to be bother with this kinda "human being"...

I hope you did not lugi too much!

  2. Hi Pastore23,

It has been 1 week since you have received your furniture and you are still actively attacking Beds.sg on this thread and another thread in Beds forum. You even went to the extend of making up stories about our operations. It seems that you are determined to get further compensation.

You see, as what madwarrior72 mentioned, we could not give you the 25% you wanted because it would result in a loss for us. So, from a business standpoint, we can't sell you the furniture.

I believe the frustration and anger you are experiencing now is not due to the fact that your change of delivery date wasn't processed properly. It is because most people responding to your thread here and at Beds forum did not agree with you.

We pride ourselves as being the company that always puts customers first, but nobody or organization is perfect. We make mistakes and we are learning along the way.

From the opinions gathered from this thread and at Beds forum, maximum amount of compensation you should receive is 10%, which is another $130 more. But I know that even if I give you another $130, you would not be happy.

So, this is what I have done for you.

    637338.jpg

The man in the picture is Carlos, the lady beside him is his mother. Carlos lives in El Salvador with his mother, cousins and his son. He helps his mother sell clothes in the store you see in the picture.

Carlos' dream is to make enough money from their small business to cover his family's daily needs. His plan is to buy more clothes in more popular colours so that they can have more opportunities to increase their sales.

$400 is standing between Carlos and his dream. Carlos managed to raise $270 through kiva.org and is still short of $130. I have just pledged the $130 that I wanted to give you, to help him.

Carlos and his family is very grateful for the money and the chance to provide basic needs for his family.

I hope that you will feel much better knowing that you have given an entire family an opportunity to lead a better life and renewed the hopes and dreams of Carlos.

You could follow up on the progress of Carlos through this link http://www.kiva.org/lend/246649

I am a believer of Karma and wish that many good things will befall on you soon. :)

(For anyone who are interested to help other people in setting up their own small business and help them out of poverty, please visit www.kiva.org )

Bravo Naveed, for that I would be happy to place my order with Beds.sg once my bedroom is ready...

Some people just take their good fortune for granted... not knowing that it will run out too if one is not careful...

What you have done is really brilliant, hope that someone will appreciate :)

  3. the photo u see below is

    IMG_1585.jpg

    2 x poles + 1 (110cm by 50cm) shelf + 1 110cm clothes rail + 1 x 110cm by 50cm by 45cm drawer + 2 x fittings

    = 2 x 59 + 1 x 39 + 1 x 9 + 1 x 159 + 2 x 10

    = $345

I bought extra 2 poles and 3 110cm shelves and 4 hooks (not shown) at 108+117+4+25 = $254 to make a corner L-shaped shelf so grand total is $600 (aftermarket Blum runner tracks not included).

Based on the pricelist from their catalog...

    Stolmenparts.png

Would you be installing the lighting from Ikea for your Stolmen?

Wonder if I should get them for my kitchen cabinet.... and if I need an additional light point for it...

  4. Sofa is not from ikea so not DIY :)

it's really not that difficult to to DIY assemble ikea furniture, cos the user guide is so clear and concise, can't really go wrong if u follow the steps closely.... :D so have faith in urself, DIY fixing up is more satisfying than u pay pple to install, what's more u save some $$$....haaaa... pole system furniture, ikea's price is hard to beat compared to others...

really huh? den maybe ask my fren to help... already spare him from the painting... ha ha...

guess guys really like this kinda DIY stuff... got a sense of achievement lor... he even suggested I do my own small fountain...

not true. curtains are more difficult to clean than roller blinds. u need to take down curtains, remove the hooks, soak in detergent overnight, transfer to WM, wash and hang dry. if u dump in too many pieces, too heavy, WM can't clean properly, hang out to dry oso more siong than normal laundry (imagine if strong wind blows while u bring in/out to dry, if u know what i mean). so that's why i opted for low-maintenance blinds. ;)

ha ha... guess if I getting the expensive ones I will send for washing... but probably will get the cheapo ones from Ikea which I could throw and change new colours/pattern when my preferences change :P

wall clock is from Molecue, at Great World City (main branch), Marina Square or the newly opened Orchard Central. $130+.... :D

oops.... price very nice too! :(

can make do without it lor.... :(

better save some $$$ for my next trip...

  5. Living Room

    Now you see it....

    IMG_3680-1.jpg

    Now you don't :D

    IMG_3678-1.jpg

The light transmittance of the perforated material used is 3%, ie to say, 97% of outdoor lighting is rejected.... the denser the perforations, the less light can pass thru, available in 3%, 5%, 10% flavors....

Below shows the before/after overall illumination of lifting/drawing down the perforated blinds on the living rooms. Camera settings are set to manual to override any exposure compensation.

    Blinds lifted...

    IMG_3671.jpg

    Blinds lowered...

    IMG_3672.jpg

Very nice effect... but blinds are more difficult to clean den curtains...

Hey! I like the wall clock, where u got it from? How muchie?

  6. Just got my hands on a self-leveling laser meter, takes the hardwork and guesswork out of mounting stuffs like picture frames, clocks, racks, shelves, etc.... all will be perfectly mounted.... hehehe

    e8888527.jpg

Comes supplied with tripod stand oso...

    556bd58b.jpg

    ba5ab9df.jpg

OH MAN! You are really good in all these DIY stuff... am also thinking of getting the Ikea Stolmen.. and Ektorp sofa..

Is your sofa also from Ikea and DIY?

am so happy to see your post on the stolman DIY... but doubt I can fix that.. :_

  7. from your photo your floor is a parquet floor. a true parquet floor. nowadays very hard to find, as it is very expensive. a beautiful vintage floor.

... seeing that i have already posted a disclaimer in my previous posts, i recommend myself. :)

Disclaimer: i work in a wooden floor installation related company.

Ha ha! It is really good parquet huh? These are old floors which I really like!

The living room is terrazo and the kitchen tiles are also very well kept...

got your pm, will give you a buzz!

    Thanks!

  8. hello everton,

yes engineered floors are wood veneers glued onto a plywood base. they usually come pre-coated in the factory. hence there is no need to sand the floor after installation. but the resultant floor would not be smoothly flat. there would be gloves on the surface of the floor. kino in ngee ann city uses engineered floor, you may go there to have a look.

engineered floors can be installed in many ways, depends on the user's need.

    1. as a 'floating' floor like laminates. the engineered floors are clicked to each other and laid on a layer of foam. not glued to the floor. can be overlaid on existing floors.

    2. glued to a plywood base that is first laid on the existing floor. this method makes the floor very hard to remove, which contradicts one of engineered flooring's advantage, which is the ability to retain the look of natural wood but with the convenience of laminates.

    3. glued to a plywood base that is first laid on the floor, then sanded, then coated. this method treats the engineered floor like solid timber floors. only makes sense to implement this method on rare, expensive timbers or big planks.

method 1 is the most suitable for your case. however you dont like the spongy feeling of laminates? this spongy feeling probably comes from the foam beneath the laminate. hence you may not like the feel of the engineered floor installed using method 1. however engineered floors are stiffer than laminates, which mitigates some of this sponginess. you should try it out in a showroom first before deciding.

timber wood, as in solid timber flooring? solid timber flooring also can be laid and glued on existing floors. however you can only do this for small parquet. not recommended for long strips. small parquet pieces can follow the unevenness of the existing floor. long strips does not follow the existing floor. hence long strips may feel hollow in the places where it is not touching the existing floor.

i think the main obstacle to raise the whole floor equally is not that of christoper's budget, but because he is already living in the house. if he is not already living in the house he would probably hack out the old tiles.

if you are not already living in your house, and you do not wish to hack out your old tiles, your suggestion would work nicely. (you would need to make modifications to your doors though.)

    Hi morgan,

Need your advise on my bedroom flooring... not sure what it is made of but on the valuation report was stated as wooden stripe:

    IMG_2255.jpg

would you be able to tell from the photo? I'm also seeking trustworthy people who can do a good and reasonable varnish for the 2 bedrooms, would you be able to recommend?

    Thanks!

  9. the model i bot according to the salesman, is the latest one, so i not sure if they sell there, but no harm go there check out....ya, i tink that NEA website oso shows aircons single/multi/inverter/non-inverter models.... so make a detail study of the specs before committing...

yes, inverter will cost more than their non-inverter fixed-speed counterparts.

    Hi neubie,

Bot Panasonic NR-BW464XNSG, 364L yesterday at GC sale for $799 :)

Also bot the wm 7kg for $259, display set price for new set.... hehehe... after my purchase they started to count down for the last 5 sets...

Thanks for the info, realized Panasonic is more cost efficient than other brands, really help me to make a better decision. :)

  10. My new panasonic fridge arrived yesterday :D :D :D it's the newest NR-BU343, 282-litre model with bottom freezer, not the inverter type but has annual power consumption of 460kWh, one of the lowest in the markets of similar capacity.... i learnt this from the salesman when I wanted to get the inverter series, he told me not to be blinded by the inverter hype and the more-ticks-frenzy, rather look at the NEA database of aircon/fridge sticker label that shows the lab-tested power consumption....which makes sense :D

immediately loaded up with lots of beer and soft drinks...haaaa

    IMG_1478-1.jpg

when choosing fridge take note of the clearance space on sideways and rear, as most fridges nowadays have their heat-exchangers installed at the sides, so a minimum of 5cm on all sides are to be observed, as the compressor will work less hard to dissipate the heat, translating to longer service life.

at the same time, my 37" samsung is finally wall-mounted on the rotating console.... very clean and sleek-looking, all the 4 x HDMI/VGA/component/AC cables all tucked behind....

    IMG_1477-1.jpg

Samsung give me a VuePoint bracket (FOC) with effortless tilting mechanism to reduce stray light (glare from window reflections) :thumbs up: but the overall thickness of the bracket is twice as thick as the tv itself....

but wth, free one, beggars can't be choosers....

    IMG_1479-1.jpg

Hey neubie, I like your fridge, am thinking of going for Panasonic too... and about this Inverter issue... thanks for sharing the information... am thinking of going to Gain City Expo sale tomorrow... dunno if can find or not..

About the Inverter issue, does your info also apply to Air-con? the price diff is quite a lot whether Inverter or not...

  11. ehh...no offence meant, but i think ur ID is not an ID, but rather a contractor.

any real ID educated in the art of interior design, and worth his salt, will not propose a layout like that. only contractors do that. tt's why it's impt for us home-owners to know wat we want. if we oredi hv a quite definite layout tt we want for ourselves, den just engage a contractor to do the works.

but if we dun hv a firm layout, instead we have a certain idea or a theme or concept that we want our home to project, den its best to engage a REAL ID and let them propose a layout tt is in keeping with the theme/concept that we want. and the best part is, it doesnt have to blow the budget when we engage a real ID. i am one living example. all the contractors i approached quoted a higher price than 2 of the 3 IDs i approached. and both those IDs' designs were much more impressive than any of the contractors'.

"give a contractor a floor plan, and he plays with Lego bricks and mix & match. give an ID a floor plan, and he treats it like a canvas and starts painting"

28th Oct edit: Sorry, typo. I meant "living example", not "loving example".

    Hi manutd,

Yar, I agree lah.. but not sure if he is not as outspoken or what.. anyway... I think he is a nice young guy.. gotta work around with my very tight budget... now am considering if I should get someone else to paint the house, he quoted about 1k...

  12. best to check. Unless someone recommend his service.

Imagine .. after you move it.

    telephone line not wrong.

    keep on power trip

    this and that.

Hey therat, would you recommend yours? Just saw the reno list of yours.. actually I am doing minimal reno...

Rewire my 3-room, kitchen cabinets and whole house painting...

  13. i also got order this berry flooring from Neon during the exhibition too...

they also promised 2 3D drawing.... this guy called David from Eco-design is friendly and i did seen the drawing after discussing with him but at the end of the day i did not engage him to do the reno as i find it quite ex.

Neon did called me a few times to ask when can they come down to my yet-to-collect keys house. I will keep my finger crossed.

If you do have any problem with this company pse bring up.

While the 3D design has yet to arrive at my gmail.... a few guys called me and obviously they were not told of my situation...

Then I asked them to check with Kelvin and after that no more return call till last Friday when I was busy with my project...

told the guy I was busy and to call me back yesterday... no news yet...

nick, I have got a good deal from them during the previous Home & Decor fair... but they said the staff had left the company so that was why nobody follow up with the 3D design and phone calls... after that the story continue here.....

  14. Well said,

i wanted to engage them for my 3rm re-wiring..... called the company and the lady who picked up the call is polite and told me that she will email me the quotation.....

very likely to engage them for the job....

Hey, you sure? I emailed them about rewiring and they replied they do not do rewiring... only sell lights...

Could you have called another place?

  15. I think i read somewhere in RT from bepgof there is no such thing as perfect one-way films, ie can look outside from within while outside looks like a mirror... not like those used in CID where criminal suspects parade in a room for witnesses to identify.... even if there is, prices may be prohibitively high... so i just make do with sandblasted films, blurs/diffuses the image when viewed thru but still allows natural lighting to go thru.

ya, chicken brand, prefer to have a rust-free bathroom for complete peace of mind....i try not to be penny wise pound foolish with purchases....things that are used everyday need better quality and durability...... some more songcho give with lifetime warranty with purchases exceeding a certain amount....nothing much to lose...

Hey neubie, where is this songcho? I bought my current bathroom stuff from one shop at Geylang.... and not even 3 months already show rusty patches liao... :(

  16. Just had my flooring done last week. Wanted to give it some "RUN IN" before commenting.

Basically, I would say that I'm satisfied with the overall quality and workmanship. Workers are a bit fierce but guess it quite normal as long as workmanship is good is ok.

Color recommended matches quite well with my furniture also.

    Verdict : PASS

Oh yeah? Hmm.... maybe I am not as lucky as you :)

Two weeks have passed since I last heard from them with the promise to email me the 3D design....

Till now I am still waiting...

  17. I have done up all my bedrooms with double glazed windows. Unfortunately, it doesn't block the noise coming from the fast and furious motorcycle :(

It is rather irritating esp at night. Bear in mind that windows will be heavy. As such, the installer must ensure that it is installed in parallel against the ground level if possible. Otherwise, you might find it difficult to close it moving forward.

Where you gotten the windows from? Installed by?

    Appreciate if you could share?

I managed to find another website:
