  1. Hi All,

My downstairs neighbor came up and said that their ceiling is dripping water just under my toilet. Considering that our block is old, we both agreed to split the costs equally. So I assume that I have to change my whole toilet floor? Hack + waterproofing? Any recomendations? Anyone has done it before? Any rough quote for these kinda works?

    Hi,

If you need to change your toilet floor, your contractor would likely recommend changing wall tiles & all sanitary wares too. Which can amount to 5k-6k.

Usually they charge about $7.00psf for ceramic tiles (incl install) to about $9.00psf for homogeneous tiles (incl install). If your sqft count is very small, they would charge about $500 to $800 lump sum charge. A full toilet sanitary set is about $400 to $800.

    Hope this helps,

    Juliana

  2. Hi bros and sis,

Am looking for referrals to do Wall-Plastering to my living room and masterbed room.

Anyone can recommend? How much does it cost?

Should plastering come BEFORE or AFTER electricals?

Also, BEFORE or AFTER Aircon installation ?

    Please advise!

You should do all other works before doing plastering, also do 1 coat of sealant paint before emulsion paint.

    Juliana.

  3. Happy new year to you too.

Will check with the ID when he's back from CNY.

By electrical works, you meant having more power points etc? Yea, some of the accessories have to fork out from pocket. Finger cross, i don't add too much misc stuff haha.

    Hi,

There are lots of stuff being left off.

such as lights & electrical components.

Electrical components can easily reach $5000.

Soft furnishings like curtains/ blinds are also 1 area not mentioned.

You may also want to consider to install a laundry hanger system to save space!

    Best Regards,

    Juliana

  6. Decided to share my experience on Yick Hong Aluminium (WIndow Grilles contractor).

Initially I approached the popular Well*** (Er**) for quote for my balcony grilles, yard area window grilles, and wrough iron gate, n was quoted $2.6k.

My contractor (Jason from U&B Reno) gave me his window contractor, Yick Hong's contact to get a quote directly so that will be cheaper than through Jason.

Anyway, was quite comfortable with Alex from Yick Hong, when he came for measurements n quote (quoted me $2.5k).

Decided to engage Yick Hong though not much difference in price with Well***.

I had asked Alex to help check the window handles & help change if any fautly/ loose. With his own initiative, Alex changed the set in the children room to handles with locks! I was very pleasantly surprised! He also didnt charge us for any additional cost for the handles, ~12 nos in total.

I also asked him to check for my mum's place and change all the remaining ones in my new pl. Of course, paid him for the handles etc.

We are definitely quite happy that we got Alex to do the window grilles job for us!

    Hi,

May I also get his contact?

    Thanks,

    Juliana

  7. Before this they had explained to me that due to the separation between the double 13A and light switch is too thin, and also the top part of the 13A is too thin, it will cracked during manufacturing, that's y the delay for 3 times... and the suggest to cut separate and join... I wanna know r they telling me the truth that it is too thin to fabricate and really need to join the small pieces together? Anyone any idea?

    Thanks

    Hi,

As a Employee of ID Firm, I'll like to point out that

    a. the workmanship is bad.

    b. the co-ordination is bad.

    c. don't accept if you can't live with it.

    a. I guess don't need to explain much. It should been seamless and silicone around the edges.

    b. I'm guessing you didn't have a Interior Designer or Coordinator that arrange the glass merchant & electrical guy.

The ID/CO needs to tell the elect guy to leave at least 2 inches to 3 inches off the top of the glass area.

Glass Guy will then be able to make a seamless glass with no problem.

Please note that all glass merchants have different specification on this.

    c. You can choose not to accept especially if you retained your 10% payment on balance.

You can ask the electrical guy to shift the sockets lower and leave 2-3 inches ( ask your glass merchant on this )

Then ask the Glass merchant to re-do the Glass Backsplash.

    Voila!

    Best Regards,

    Juliana
