  1. Dear all,

    JFYI, I bought V-Touch Junior 56" (K14Y2) from Hwa Ann at RM430.

Boss is friendly and will even open box to let you see the set. Sensa 4 is out of stock. But he quoted me RM490.

He will also check if you are buying for Singapore and will prepare the invoice accordingly.

Hwa Ann is quite pricy. I got a quote from YES at RM 390 for the V-Touch Junior, forgot to ask about sensa 4.

Anyway, for those traveling. Once past Causeway from Woodlands, go down Jalan Tebrau (Tebrau Highway). You will past a row of shops on your left with prominent light displays. That is Hwa Ann.

If you continue to drive, you will see a big cross junction, with Jalan Harimau on the left. Diagonally across you is Plaza Pelangi.

Keep right and at the next right turn, you will see a Good Year Tyre shop on your right.

Make a right turn and go straight. YES will be on your right.

    Good luck!

  2. Hi all

    Totally new to reno.

    Some newbie questions.

    1. Inverter vs Non Inverter

    - Whats the difference? Heard inverters cool faster, less expensive?

    - I normally dont use the air conditioner unless its the warm months (Apr to Sep), even then generally do not use. Which would you recommend?

    2. If I buy a system 1 (1 compressor + 1 unit)

    - Will I be able to add more units in future?

    - Currenty I have 2 units to one compressor on level 2. System is quite old, but still functioning ok and rarely used. Thinking of adding one new compressor + 1 unit to master bed room. And in future, maybe 2 more units downstairs. Is this recommended? (living in HDB masionette)

    3. Window unit trade in

    - Are there any trade in services available?

  3. After sourcing for the mattress tommorow you may come back to the forum and post

Is there a bed sheet size that is between the sizes of a Super Single and a Queen? Anybody want to post Is there a bed frame size that is between the sizes of a Super Single and a Queen?

Not trying to be naughty but think of the price to pay and the difficulty in looking for the right size to match for it.... I would still prefer to settle for the generic size of Supoer Single or a Queen. Just my thoughts...

Bed frame i believe you can custom it.

Bed Sheet at most you get a queen and tuck underneath.

The size that I found online seems to be between Super Single and Queen. That is why I am asking if this size is available in Singapore cos this seems to be a standardised size.

    Sorry if I sound confusing.

Just asking if anyone found a size like that.

    Thanks!

  4. Hi,

Is there a bed size that is between the sizes of a Super Single and a Queen?

I did a search online which gave me a size called Double (54"x75") which is 137.2cm x 190.5cm. This is quite ideal for me, but does this exist in Singapore?

And where would be a good place to shop for mattresses?

    Thanks much!

  5. Well... reno value got big and small... if U let them do the carpentry... they earn more... if U don't ... they earn less....

But if U are not doing the carpentry... then there is no much thing the ID can design...

Definitely carpentry the ID will do, cos i want to have wall wardrobes as i dont intend to buy ready made and keep changing when it spoils.

Just to check, usually an ID will draw/design the place down to the lights, accessories like coffee tables and stuff and proceed to help u purchase or u purchase those urself?

    thanks

  6. I'll suggest u get quotation from both ID and contractor first..u might be surprise some contractors price higher than ID. If ID price differences by not much, go for ID at least u get to see what ur house will look like before u go into renovation..

Me and hubby started looking around for ID and contractor even before our 1st appoint(we got a resale flat)..gotten quite a number of quotation from both ID and contractor before we conclude on our ID.

    Thanks very much.

Guess I will get a couple of quotes then.

    Thanks!

  7. My 2 cents worth of opinion is that, if you already know what you want to do and have an ideal of the design you want, go for contractor. If you have not idea on what to do with your house, like space planning, design, etc, then engage an ID.

    Hi,

Thats what I thought, but after reading around on the forums, I have the following concerns:

    1) By just engaging contractor, mostly dont come with warranty, also, no professional communication and supervision (ie. no designer designs, everything by description). This then requires constant supervision as they work.

    2) With reference to point 1, is the money saved worth it for the constant supervision, time spent on looking for a gd contractor, lack of warranty?

Thanks, hope my concerns arent too ridiculous, really quite paranoid cos my dad did some reno some yrs back by using a contractor only and kena some real bad job. Budget is pretty tight, so dont have much flexibility if the contractor screws up.

    Thanks.

  8. Hi all

I am looking to renovate my mansionette in Bishan (about 15 years old)

I have some rough idea what I want to do and will only require the following:

    1) Fixing wall wardrobes and maybe cabinets/drawers

    2) Redoing toilet (3 toilets)

    3) Redoing kitchen

I intend to buy my furniture like dining table, lights, sofa etc myself.

Would just like to seek you opinions on whether I should get an Interior Designer or just get a contractor. My concern is that if I just get a contractor, he may not fully comprehend what I want in terms of colour, measurements etc. Also, warranty concerns.

Also, if I get an ID who I understand will find and communicate with the contractors on the wardrobe and maybe moving the electrical plugs around, will it be very expensive?

Please help, as this is the first time I am renovating my house.

    Thanks!
