Items Delivery Yesterday and today, i was waiting at the new place to receive deliveries. All were on time, except for a lighting store. Oven and Hob. Hood is already tucked in bomb shelter. Hob delivered was of wrong model. Called up Mega and was shocked to find out that the model i ordered has already been discontinued for 1.5 years. Somebody messed up, not sure whether it is Mega or Rinnai agent. Frustrated, but i didn't want to go down to reselect another model. The delivered model was one of my choices initially, so i just accepted it. Toilet Fixtures. Bought from GR Link, Poh Seng, and Ikea. There were some problems with items from GR Link. Called up Benny and he was very nice to drive down personally to replace the defected at night. We rejected a mirror from Poh Seng as the corners were very sharp. Husband was very concern about safety issue. So we have to source for another mirror to be put up in the common toilet. Lightings & Fan Bought from Chan Huat, LC Lighthing, BL Lights and Ikea. We hand carried most of the lightings from Balestier down to our flat. Spent around $600 at Chan Huat but they only do free delivery for $800 and above. Quite bewildered with them, maybe their business is too good, that's why can set such a high quota. Not to mentioned that all their prices are exclusive of GST. Bought only 1 hanging light from BL Lights which cost less than $300 and they offer free delivery without me having to ask. BL Lights are quite unique and to my liking. They have lights that i didnt see in other shops. Their prices are quite average and i would recommend them.

Window Grills I would very much love to have the windows without grills. But husband and parents insisted that window grills is a must. Grills were up yesterday. But workers forgot to bring the locks for my grills, they have to make another trip down to install them.

My super slim door for master bedroom toilet. Nothing fancy, cheap acrylic bi-fold door. And the super mini window for common toilet. There is mis-alignment when window is opened. Will ask the window installer to rectify problem on his next trip.

Can't help to feel that my reno progress is the slowest ever. Painting was completed, but for the last few days, not much work was done. No sight of workers yesterday and today Delays and delays... Toilet fixtures to be up on Friday, and electrician will come back on Saturday to fix up the lights.
-
Hey MeRfMeRf, painting work should be completed tomorrow. Then chemical wash on Saturday. Can't wait to see my glossy floor tiles. Then should be toilet fixtures and carpentry works.
-
Yes yes, its good to have your ID present when installing so that he can do any counter-attacking for you.

I was being chased to confirm laminate for the bedrooms flooring. Chose this, hope it turns out as good as the picture.

And yesterday before i left the house, the workers came and cleared some rubbish. At the same time, removed corrugated boards from the floor. For the first time, I saw the completed flooring with skirting. Love it, as compared to the previous orange floor tiles.

Renovation Progress - Boxing Up (Part 3) We boxed up part of the recessed portion of the wall in the living room so that our tv console can lay against the wall fully. Before vs After. Forgot to take pictures of box up for the master bedroom toilet and bomb shelter.
-
Renovation Progress - Boxing Up (Part 2) There were holes above the room doors after cornice was teared down, so we have to cover it up. Before vs After. The entrance to Bedroom 3 and Main Bedroom, we covered the top portion and will be having a glass door below. So i sort of merge 2 rooms into 1 without hacking any wall. Before vs After.
-
Renovation Progress - Boxing Up (Part 1) Boxing up of pipes in common toilet almost complete. Before vs After. The pipes in common toilet window can be seen from service yard view. After concealing the pipes, the big window doesn't serve its purpose so we made it smaller. Before vs After.

Aircon Installation - Lesson Learnt Given another chance, i will place my compressor in the master bedroom instead of bedroom 3. In that way, trunking for my study room and bedroom 3 can be neat, and laid near to the ceiling. Then the messy/ugly trunking connected to the compressor can still be covered up when i do up cabinets under the window area in the master bedroom. Verdict: Take the advice of the aircon installation site surveyor with caution. Most site surveyors will just propose installing the compressor as near to the blowers as possible, so that they can cut cost by laying as little trunking and insulation as possible. When we wanted to place the compressor at the service yard, the site surveyor claimed that the aircon will take a longer time to cool the rooms as the trunking is very long, and our system 2 unit is not powerful enough. When the installation workers came, they will install based on how the site surveyor instructed them to. No changes can be made. I regret for not asking the site surveyor how the trunking will turn out to be. If not, i will definitely have taken another approach.

Aircon Installation - Part 3 Blower in Bedroom 3. Trunking in Bedroom 3. This sucks because the trunking is super obvious. Can't think of any other better way to lay the trunking. And the wall brackets are placed slanted. A very big eyesore. This is the master bedroom where trunking is placed for the water to flow into the toilet.

Aircon Installation - Part 2 The stunt man. Luckily our unit is not very high up. Blower up in Study room. This is the nicest installation because we placed the blowers back-to-back in 2 rooms, so no trunking required in the study room.

Aircon Installation - Part 1 Some cock-ups occurred during aircon installation. Was supposed to install compressor at our service yard aircon ledge but ended up putting up the compressor outside bedroom 3 where we have to pay extra $130 for the wall bracket. Aircon and compressor arrived at the door with insulation tubes. Installation work begins.

Renovation Progress - Paint arrived Went down to the flat yesterday to supervise aircon installation. To my delight, i saw tins of paint tucked inside my bomb shelter. Picked them up to checked that the color code are what i have chosen, also to ensure that contractor does not provide me with cheapo paint. My contract is quoted based on using ICI Dulux Pentalite. However, i ended up choosing all my colors from Dulux All because it is supposed to be of superior toughness, outstanding washability, anti-mould & anti-bacteria, and covers hairline cracks as compared to Pentalite. Was glad that i didnt have to do any top-up as Ah Hwa said that he will absorb the additional cost for me.

Not much updates for the past few days. We are waiting for the aircon to be installed tomorrow before reno work can continue. Guess this is the peak period for aircon installation. I called in May to scheduled the aircon delivery and installation, earliest date i got is 14th June. So not much reno work can be done before the aircon goes up.

Sure will do.. But can only do so after i have received the items, which will take around 2 months to deliver.
-
Yes yes. I have been there! They are currently having sale. Spotted a few items that i would like to get. Will probably go down again when my reno is nearing completion.

My latest obsession - Mirror Side Tables
-
Its a very nice coffee table!
-
From Lush. I am hoping that there will be no delay to delivery.
-
Very expensive for a tv console especially when its already after discount. Might go down to the show room to take a look since its quite near my current place.
-
Hi Fairydust, can share with me which coffee table you bought and how much you pay for it after discount?
