  1. More pics! Master Bedroom (previously the 2nd bedroom) My bed is King Koil with a black & silver fabric headboard from Courts. They were having a promo at that time for mattress & headboard set & I paid about $1600 all in. I had the bedframe legs changed to 6" as I like my bed to be as high as possible. I ordered the 6" square legs but I was given the 6" round legs instead. Apparently, they do not make 6" square legs anymore and the Courts promoter gave me the wrong info. Eventually, I decided to accept the round legs after they waived the additional $50 that I would have to pay for the changing the legs. So far, I must say I'm very happy with the bed Wall mounted reading lamps I bought the gold wall mount lamp stands before I even bought the house! I got them from KL on a business trip when I was still house hunting. They were a bargain at RM15 each only! The lamp shades were later bought at Ikea for around $20 each & the bulbs I use LED bought from Ed my contractor. So far, so good View from the all glass master bathroom Do you see the flowers or the lady's face? I bought this painting from Bali, while the house was still under renovation & had it stretched in Singapore for around $50. I was taken in by the sweet pink colour although at the time I hadn't decided on the wall paper yet, I bought it anyway. It makes an interesting conversational piece when friends come over. You can see the painting also from the living room through the half glass wall, and it bounces off the mirrors behind the dining & sofa. View through the half glass wall into the WIW/Master Bedroom View from Living/dining looking in I've had so many enquiries about my renovations & contractor by PM, I'm sorry if I have not managed to reply to all of you straightaway as I have been really busy at work. I will try to do so as soon as possible. Please PM me again if I've missed replying to you Have a great weekend!!
  2. TGIFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!! Apologies for all the folks who have been waiting for more pics of the bedroom. It was a hectic work week Here are more pics of the master bedroom: Before ( 2 bedrooms, wall in between) After (wall in between hacked & made into 1 big master bedroom) Before (with recessed beam) After (recessed beam sealed up, wallpapered & TV cables etc were ran inside for a seamless look)
  3. More pics.... Before (Master looking out to the living/dining) After (with roller blinds when I need privacy) Before After (master bedroom aircon service window is now behind the WIW tick tack mirror)
  4. Here are pics of my master bedroom (its 2 rooms combined into 1 big master): Before After Before After
  5. Hi poison (interesting name!) Sorry for the late reply I forgot to reply to your post! The previous owner did put the dining near to the kitchen & the sofa near the window but I felt the space was not as nice due to a few reasons: 1. I wanted an L shaped sofa & it would look "unanchored" if I place it nearer the window, & part of it would block the nice city view. The sofa looks better against the mirrored wall; 2. I wanted to be able to enjoy the city view when having a meal at the dining table; 3. I have a breakfast cum bar counter area already at the kitchen & most the time for quick meals will be there instead of at the dining table; 4. Space segregation when I'm entertaining & preparing meals & my kitchen might be messy/noisy, my guests can still have a decent conversation if the dining is not too near the kitchen. So for all of the above reasons, the dining is where it is now. Have a great Sunday!
  6. Hi chippz, Sorry for late reply. You can contact my contractor Ed See 97563849. Good luck on your reno!
  7. Hi rayfox, Thanks so MUCH for your nice comments! Wow, "one of the best"?! I'm floating now. Made my day. Are you doing reno too?
  8. Hi yeese, congrats on getting your own place! I've used Blum for all my hinges & love them. So far, no problems. I think you will have to insist on using Blum if that was what your ID promised you. Blum is expensive so sometimes contractors look for cheaper alternatives.
  9. More pics of my WIW The service window behind the tick tack door When tick tack door is closed (mirror in front) My shoes!!
  10. Here are more pics. Sorry for the delay due to heavy work commitments. Hereare pics of my 10ft Walk In Wardrobe Walk In Wardrobe (before) Walk In Wardrobe (After) The WIW is in the Master bedroom. It's built with partition on both sides with a tick tack door concealing the window & a full length mirror on the door. Initially wanted to just seal up the window but because it leads out to the AC ledge, my contractor recommended a tick tack door & large mirror to allow for easy servicing of AC in future & the extra large mirror doubles up as a dressing area.
  11. Hi carisella, I think the door is heavy with the glass panel but the Blum tick tack mechanism springs open easily & closes easily as well due to the magnet. so I have had no problems opening/closing it. I think the most critical thing would be that the door should not sag so I think my contractor put more hinges at the top where the stress is the most
  12. Living Room Before Living Room After I didn't want a typical feature wall with long cabinet, as I wanted more walking space. So I just asked for a simple wall mount open shelf in glossy black piano laminate (inside of shelf was later painted black after this pic was taken) to hold my DVD player & AV receiver & some CDs. My TV is 52" Phillips LED TV with ambi lights. The glass you see on the right side is looking into my masterbedroom. More pics later on that area

  14. Hi Edlyn, Thank you for your comliments! Many hinges were used to secure the mirrored door for the HHS. I just counted=total 7 And Blum tic tack mechanism, So far, so good. No sagging. Here's a pic:
  15. Hi Reiki, Sorry for ;ate reply, have been busy at work. My sister got the lamp for me. Thanks for the compliment!
  16. Hi Ode, Here's a close up pic of the LED strip for my kitchen cabinets. Makes the cabinets look like their floating! I love it. More pics: Walkway to the rooms Before After Ceiling in Nippon "Urban Grey"
  17. Hi Ode, Thank you for your compliments! Wow, featured in mags? Are you an editor, maybe you can help me? (kidding) I did whole house wallpaper (except kitchen, bathrooms & guest room), bought the wall paper myself & then ask my contractor to install for me. He gave me quite a good price as part of the package, so the overall cost is still ok compared to if I had ordered from like goodrich. It cost me slightly more than if I had chosen to paint instead. As regards LED, I had no knowledge of what it was until I started on my reno. The LED holders for downlights, bulbs & LED strips were all supplied by my contractor too. I had no clue how & what to buy honestly. But I did check out Lightings.com subsequently & their LED is like $30/pc (so ex!). Mine I paid around half that price for the bulb. I used all warm white, but I think they come in cool white too. So far I have been paying around $50-$60 in electricity bill every month & most of my friends said its very low. So I think the LED really helped to cut down my PUB bill. And the best thing is that I won't have to constantly watch what lights I turn on & for how long, so for me its peace of mind too. Yes, all the crystal lights I changed to LED bulbs as well. Apparently, there is wide & narrow angle LED so the crystals will still shine if you choose the right LED bulb. Versus if you use energy saving bulbs which will not make your crystals shine. Let me know if you need to buy I can PM my contractor's contact to you & you can ask him all the technical things directly.
  18. Good Sunday Morning everyone! Here are more pics: Dining (before & after) Living/Dining (before & after) Wallpaper (Living/Dining)
  19. Hi ayazumi, Thanks! I wipe it down with a soapy damp cloth. I supposed you could dip it in a pail of water too & then dry it with a cloth.
  20. Inside Kitchen Before Kitchen After I used black galaxy granite for kitchen table top & black piano gloss laminate for the cabinets. And since I didn't want any top-hung cabinets to clutter the kitchen & couldn't hide the pipe, I chose to paint the gas & water pipes metallic copper colour to blend in with the metallic backsplash tiles. The metallic tiles also reflect the gold specks in the black galaxy table top & play up the granite. Kitchen Before(taken from inside looking out) Kitchen After(taken from inside looking out)
  21. Hi Edlyn, My contractor did discuss with me regarding wood or partition as backing but decided to use wood in the end, more realiable I guess. You are right about halogen bulbs. I've changed ALL my lights to LED. Here are more pics: Foyer Light Foyer Wallpaper (bronze with vertical zigzag lines & sparkles) Kitchen Before (with wall) Open concept Kitchen "L" breakfast table & bar counter
  22. Hi piknik, Thank you so much for your compliments! Made my day. p.s I have been following your blog too
  23. Hi Ode, Thanks for your compliments. Many people go for safe white palette so I decided to do something different. Glad you liked it. I spent a bit less than $50K all in, including plumber & electrician. Mine all concealed so a little more difficult to do. All vendors provided by my contractor. I would say half the ideas are from me & the other half from my contractor. He acts like a sounding board on whether my ideas are feasible/practical or not. So like the half glass wall for the living & master was his idea (to open up the space). Although there were some small hiccups along the way (like the whole wall came down instead of just half wall, but he offered to reinstate for me subsequently), I would say that overall it has been a pleasant experience. If I were to rate him, I will give him 8.5-9/10. He is very "on" & sometimes will bug me to go buy all the things like sink, hood/hob, accessories etc (a little too much bugging sometimes but maybe also because I was so busy with work during that period to shop). He brought me to some places to buy stuff but since I was quite tied up with work, I could only do most of my shopping on weekends. In terms of site co-ordination, I must say I did minimal due to busy work schedule. So we corresponded mostly by phone or email. I think he went down to monitor almost everyday & sent me pics to update me on the progress. You can contact him Mr Ed See 97563849 but he told me that he only takes 1 big project at a time so you can try to see if he can do yours or not. He used to do commercial projects but now don't want such a busy life so concentrates on residential instead. Good luck on your reno
