Day 16-22 of renovation [continued]: The study room: The storeroom: The corridor that was deemed as a balcony by HDB:

Day 16-22 of renovation: These were the days when the plastering of the entire house took place. I guess it takes lots of skill to be able to plaster the ceiling and walls smoothly with just the simple actions of applying and scraping the plaster which the workers effortlessly did so. I thought the job was done pretty well. My contractor assured me that the lines on the walls were due to the gaps between the prefabricated walls which HDB used and that they will be gone once the paint goes up. The MBR: The other bedroom:

Day 14-15 of renovation [continued]: The windows of the toilets and the kitchen were also installed. They were changed from lourve type to top hung type.

Day 14-15 of renovation [continued]: The doors of the toilets were installed. I requested for full swing doors and the aluminium frame with acrylic was recommended by the contractor. However, there was just this problem. As my shower in my common toilet is right next to the door, somehow the acrylic will still enable the people outside to see the silhouette of the person inside (not very nice for guests to bathe there), tried and tested with my handphone lights. My contractor assured me that they will do something about the lighting inside the toilet so that that will not happen. Hope it will turn out as what he promised. MBR toilet: Common toilet:

Sorry for the lack of updates for the past few days. Hmm, I guess the progress could have been faster, but probably that is because I am too excited to see how it turned out in the end. Better to be slow and have a piece of mind than fast and having all the poor quality, I guess. Let me continue from where I left off. Day 14-15 of renovation: As I requested for the plastering to be done to the whole house instead, the electrician was tasked to remove the old casings from the walls. Meanwhile, there was some electrical fitting done to the kitchen. The scene of the living room after the removal of the casings: The open net box cannot be removed thus it remains as it is: The wiring in the MBR: The wiring in the kitchen: The effects of having a light too hot that it left burnt marks on the ceiling (guess I was too suaku to know that):

Hmm was wondering whether this sort of piping is acceptable?

Day 9-13 of renovation: I guess the progress of the renovation is much too slow to write about it day by day, so I decided that it is better to lump them all and let you guys do a 'spot the difference'. Transformation of the MBR toilet:

You are welcome. Zero's price should be quite competitive. The only quirk I have with him is that his delivery on Saturday is not very punctual (was 2 hrs late). Probably because he has too many customers already and his solo delivery man was like so exhausted when I saw him. Lol. We did not do air con as we figured that we will not be using the air con that much, so we decided to retain the current one and use it till it dies. Then again, we are still sort of struggling whether to do the aircon now. If only money drops from the sky. Haiz. Got some t-blog recommend the one in Tampines, but I cannot remember who le.

Day 8 of renovation: Progress seemed to be slower, but they did rectify the common toilet window by making it bigger as requested. They also completed the wall tiles for the common toilet. At the same time, they started to put the wall between the living room and the kitchen. I wonder how it will turn out.

Day 7 of renovation: More stuffs are up. More of the MBR toilet's wall tiles are done. The floor of the common toilet is thicker now. The rectangular hole of the kitchen is also done. Quite like the effect for now. However, it was disappointing that they made the common toilet window too small. Told the worker to make the hole bigger. Hope that it will be rectified tomorrow.

Day 6 of renovation: Progress was much slower, probably because it was a Saturday. They did up the drop at the floor in the MBR toilet. They also patched up edges of the walls at the entrance to the kitchen and the beam in the kitchen. Left of MBR toilet Right of MBR toilet Top of kitchen

Day 4 of renovation: They touched on the plastering and they started to put up the wall tiles. It was then that I realise that my camera was low batt and could not take any pictures. Stupid me. Day 5 of renovation: The wall tiles are almost done. They also did the kitchen base. Quite nicely done I think. Day 3 of renovation: The workers started work again after their CNY break and they did mostly plastering of the walls. Quite friendly and nice to talk to. They even helped me to remove the chin-up bar from the entrance of the MBR toilet. The left of the MBR toilet The right of the MBR toilet The floor of the MBR toilet The common toilet The kitchen

Day 2 of renovation: The workers cleaned up the place quite well. I was pretty amazed because I've seen worse jobs. Now the workers are taking their break for the chinese new year. Updates will only be after that.
