  1. Hi Fishponder - That is a solid top. The same one used for the sink and MBR. Solid tops are pretty easy and flexible to fabricate. 2 rods were drilled into the wall and the solid top sits on it and then silicon applied all round. It's sturdy and looks good. You can always fabricate one to go along with the sink top for a more complete and sync look.
  2. I just had all aircons serviced. Used this uncle for a few times already. Down to earth not there to carrot you. Entire apartment servicing less than $200 I think. He says our aircons are still new. If you need air-con service contact let me know.
  3. I have made known to my contractor the bugging problem of the water tank valve leaking onto the double socket which the washing machine uses. It posed a hazard. Was informed by wife that today the plumber refused to change the entire valve as "it is not his business". Fortunately, our contractor decided to roll up his sleeve and fixed a new valve himself! I shall check on his work tmr. Nonetheless, awesome guy.
  4. Toilet is about done. Taps have been fixed. leakages fix. Sinks fixed. Table top fixed. COMMON TOILET: MBR TOILET: My contractor called me on the installation day to inform me that after all the installation have been done for the common toilet sink, he discovered that the underside is wet. Apparantly there is some micro manufacturing defect which resulted in water dripping at a very slow rate through the sink. To the normal person, this will never pose a problem as you will nv suspect that drops on the floor are caused by this defect. However, he knew me to be very particular about such things. He warned me and asked me to check with agent (which is L-pheno) which i bought the sink. We arranged for L-pheno to call him and he offered to explain to L-phene what the defect was. Thankfully L-Pheno (which service till today has been great!!) came down the next day with a replacement. Our dear contractor was there to remove the entire sink by himself! He's been great help. Glad to have a contractor like him.
  5. Decided to re-varnish all the wooden doors to give it a new lease of life!
  6. Yay! When you can start painting works it means that things are shaping up and the heavy works are almost all done and finished. The family friend had started to paint. Its a pretty simple combi - all white for the apartment and only a grey scheme for the feature wall. simple is more.
  7. Hi Battle, hope my sharing helped you in your decision making. Would be great if you can share pics if you decided to use it!
  8. I boxed it up with false ceiling and covered it with acrylic with lights. removing the acrylic will reveal the pipe. Vertical pipes i built a storage cabinet over it. if want, can still access pipes.
  9. Selling a BRAND NEW 3-tier stainless steel dish rack by Song-Cho. http://www.songcho.com.sg/products/prodlist.aspx?cateid=21# Brand new. Bought last week only. Realised that it does not fit our kitchen dimension. This product is LIFETIME WARRANTY against rusting etc. Viewing to be done in Simei. Bought for $204. 10. It's ok in actual. Bright enough with cosy feel. Bright enough for general use. The cabinet white light will be used only during cooking. Other than that for everyday use it's actually bright enough. Cheers!!
  11. AND FINALLY! FOR THOSE WHO ARE WAITING FOR THE RESULT OF USING LED DOWNLIGHTS TO LIGHT-UP AN AREA, THE EXAMPLE OF THE KITCHEN IS HERE!!!!! Ran an L-shape track with 2M by 1M tracks and fitting with 7 modules of 7W LED each. Here are the results: The below shows purely LED only. This is without the counter lights being used. The below shows it with the cool white T5 lighting up. This was used for food preparation. The pictures shows it with the installed Glass backsplash. The below shows the sink area which is lighted with 2X 4W LED. The black glass divider has also been installed as seen in the picture.
  12. Some light works to the living area done up too! Decided that living area is too dark without any downlights. So decided to install 2 sets of double downlight using 4W LEDs: And of course, the dining light from LIGHTCRAFT. Looking good!
  13. Quick updates on the MBR and Common toilet. The acrylic covers for the T-5 are not in yet. Gotta wait still...
  14. OK! The electical works are about done over the weekend. Let me quickly do an update before turning in. For a start, a look at the lighted TV-console in the MBR: It works very well for ambient lighting when not watching on the TV. Lighted up by 2-sets of 2X4Ft T-5 for top and bottom row. The switches are hidden in the left cabinet.
  15. HAhaha. interesting opinions here. Agree it has the resort look. But slates are good at trapping pools of water on each slate. Its terrible in my opinion to use it for wet toilet. Take note this common toilet has no shower screen due to its configuration. It is a fully wet toilet. So yah, clean tiles will be better off...
  16. I thought so too! but guess it is too late now. The ceiling has been patched. I only pray and hope it stays strong the way it is.
  17. Thanks! Agree that it is tighter than usual. Its a sacrifice for the aesthetics. But it is kinda still wide enough not to feel too cramped up and so far the corner has not posed any problems.... phew... lets hope it keeps that way! and oh yah - i think it is best to keep flooring dry at all times to prevent the humidity and mould from growing?
  18. Hope to have inspired you. I would like to turn in now.
  19. The MBR bathroom went through the most thought because it is relatively a small area with little room to play with ideas. We needed to achieve a modern and clean look and have enough storage space to house toiletries etc as this is the key to achieving a somewhat showroom state. Again to walk my viewers through the journey: When I started out drawing the design, hiding the PVC pipes while giving access to it and maximising storage was a real challenge. This is after about 70% of the cabinetry is up. Left with stuff like the table top, sink, tap, mirror etc... See below for EVEN MORE storage space...
  20. As for the common toilet, things are taking shape too. Again to walk through viewers on the transformation of the part which costs us the most money - Toilets: We decided to spend money to redo the common toilet as we realised that slates are very hard to maintain and they harbor alot of dirt. In the end, I decided to rejuvenate the place since visitors will frequent this bathroom. Plans have changed a little as we decided to scrap the mirror and use that area for the shower instead. Have not installed the basin, taps, and shelf yet. Will post updates when installation has taken place. But for now, the transformation has been great. It feels cleaner, brighter and more modern.
  21. As for the MBR, the TV-console has taken shape and is finally completed today. To take viewers through the journey again, lets revisit the beginning: I wanted to have a compartment to hide away the SCV cables, Sockets etc. So the 1-ft cabinet on the left will house all those. Cables will run behind the console and DVD players etc will take up the bottom open shelf. It is multi-purpose to hold general stuff like books and CDs as well. This is the purpose of the 3-ft shelving on the right. TV will take up the 4-ft feature wall in the middle. Have completed mounting up the TV-bracket as well. Left the cables in position before the mounted it up to save time and trouble figuring out in future. A tip for all, suspended cabinets will give the illusion of a wider space as compared to those sitting onto the floor. I believe this design has achieved the effect. Will run 8-ft of lights on top and bottom of the console. Will share with all the effect once electricals are done. The electricians have left for the day .....
