  1. Will be replacing my basin at common toilet with this as the exsisting basin look sucks :curse:

This will be install on a vanity top as my toilet walkway is narrow for big basin :angry2:

What you guys think does it look nice??

Ask ask city gas tech to visit my unit tmr to discuss on how the gas pipe run for my cooker hob and gas heater

nice basin! very wide! this will definitely avoid splashing of water all over the vanity top. good choice! probably two persons can wash face and brush teeth together? :)

  2. wow, nice brick wall. :)

must be tough designing and deciding. whether to break down walls is always a difficult decision to make. i can understand. was thinking to myself whether i made the right decision when the workers started hacking my bathroom. but i think once the project is nearer completion, u'll realise u've made the right decision :)

  3. was just looking around & came into your t-blog, i chose the t-blogs without too much activities/replies as i find it a big headache looking thru everything :P

how's the reno going? u're not from SG? must be tough overseeing the reno. do put up more pics, would love to see how's the progress, and how close the final product is to the 3d pics.

  4. hi Alextoh76, i got it from signature hardware, google for it. :)

they do ship to SG, but u gotta call to order, as their order form does not cater for countries outside US. i find their shipping cost quite high though. it'll be good if u have friends in US to help u ship or lug back :)

  5. looking forward to your bathroom reno journey!!

care to share how much is your quotation to renovate 1 bathroom only?

I'm thinking to renovate my both bathrooms

hi vhardono! i'm gonna spend about [edited out due to commercial reasons] on the reno, excluding accessories. yeah, it may seem a bit pricey, but i chose quartz vanity top and other pricey stuffs. :P

wife didnt think the reno is necessary, but the bathroom is my sanctuary after a long day's work.

to me, it's the second-most important place in the house (second to the bedroom). i spend time there taking shower and relaxing, that's why i designed it myself, according to what i would like to see after coming back from work.

vhardono: tried sending u a PM for the costs, but u cannot receive PMs. please PM me if u want to know the cost. :)

  6. designed the new bathroom layout myself, drew out my idea (even with dimensions!), obtained wife's approval, and then went about hunting for contractors/IDs to do it.

also hunted around many overseas websites and bought many stuffs online, including a beautiful glass mosaic copper vessel sink, and an interesting-looking faucet.

after discussing with ID who gave very valuable suggestions, i changed a bit of my idea for practical reasons, e.g. using cabinets rather than "open concept" or drawers under the vanity sink.

  7. today is the first day of the renovation of my MBR bathroom. took leave to oversee the first day and to instruct contractor what i want. extremely noisy and dirty. well, that's the price to pay towards a dream bathroom.

have been contemplating renovating the bathroom since the shower area floor tiles became eroded. thanks to the "smart" developer who used compressed marble tiles, which cannot be exposed to water for long. water will seep into the tiles and slowly erode them. developer said we should clean up and wipe dry our bathroom tiles after using. how logical!!!! hmpphhh.

below are pics of the old bathroom, looks really nice in the pics, cos eroded floor tiles not very visible.

will be hacking everything, including bathtub, cos absolutely no use for it. only used it a few times right after moving in.

  8. Using Quartz??? Need to google for the 2 recommendation of SilesStone and CaesarStone. ID is quite insistent in wanting us to use white granite top to complement the overall semi industrial theme.

Decided to hack the wall between Master bedroom and adjacent room for a WIW but will not removing the door just to save a few bucks. Otherwise, it will cost about $1k to remove and replace it with a plastic panel to allow more light into the "corridor"

quartz is slightly more expensive than granite. but it's supposedly easier to maintain than granite. according to my ID and the quartz manufacturer brochure, quartz = non-porous, heat & burn resistant, scratch-resistant, stain-resistant, bacteria-resistant, chip & crack resistant, high resistance to acid, and only need warm water or mild soap to clean. compared to granite which is only heat & scratch resistant and needs sealers and special cleaners to maintain, quartz seems like a better choice wor. i decided to go with quartz for my bathroom vanity top, since my ID offered me both granite & quartz choices. :)

some IDs are more obstinate. ultimately, it's your own place, and u have the final say on what u want.

  9. i agree with the rest, do the necessary things first, then after a few years, then slowly do the "wants". like me, i've been living same place for about 7 years, now then i'm going to start the renovation of my MBR bathroom. at least have more $$ to do more to your liking, need not compromise so much.

will start a t-blog to show my bathroom reno soon. :)

  10. Helping my cousin to sell. He just moved overseas, got a brand new Grohe Grohtherm 3000 Cosmopolitan thermostat mixer set to sell:

Grohtherm 3000 Cosmopolitan Concealed Thermostat (19468) together with the concealed valve Rapido body (35500)

He received as a gift, but no use for it, as he already renovated new home, cant install unless hack bathroom walls. If you're renovating your new home and will be hacking the bathroom walls, do consider getting this.

Thermostat mixer helps to limit shower water temperature to 38 degC and prevents scalding. Built-in diverter for switching between 2 outlets.

Selling in local SG shop for about S$1300, I think. He is selling for S$900, negotiable, reasonable offer of cos. PM me if you want. Please note as he is overseas, will take about 2 weeks to ship to SG.

Please note: Only for those renovating and hacking bathroom walls, otherwise you cant install.

  11. sharebear, i'll be doing it in april. will let you know how it goes. will take a few pics too.

not sure about the smell. hopefully he'll do a good job and the smell doesnt come up. my ID is quite ok, my whole place was done by him when we moved in, very good job. now my toilet reno also look for him, he will do all he can to help.

yes, your ID is correct. all drainage (including the toilet bowls, the sinks, the floor drainage holes) goes to the main sewerage pipe, which is the biggest vertical pipe you see in your home (if yours is newer place, the pipes are already all concealed, you probably can remember the big pipe in our parents' place toilets).
