  1. Greetings! So many of us have been drawn to the photos posted by interior design firms. Yet, service and workmanship aside, I wonder how many of you are satisfied or impressed with the artistic aspect of the renovation by your interior designer? After all, the interior design firm marks up the price of almost every job they propose to carry out, so the edge of the ID over the contractor(s) ought to be the design/artistic factor. Logically, the finished product ought to look designer's, right? Was the result anywhere close to their photos? Were you: A - Totally blown away by the design and look. Exceeded your expectations. B - Met your artistic expectations. Could realize the look you had in mind. C - Not quite what you had in mind, but at least showed some artistic flair and creativity. D - Can't really tell if it were a designer's job or a contractor's design. F - Your primary school child could come up with a better design. Indulge me if you would!
  2. Hi, Does anybody have any advice on what to look out for when shopping for a reading lamp? I am presently using a Ikea desk lamp with a 40watt bulb which gives off a soft yellowish light. However, my eyes get tired after reading under the lamp after a while. I am also overwhelmed by the type of lights there are in the market. Anybody with experience with 3M's Polarizing lamps, popularly marketed at Popular? Information like should I look out for minimum wattage, to get LED or bulb, should I get a "Full spectrum"/Natural Light bulb, or even direct brand/model recommendation would be extremely appreciated. Thanks a million!
  3. Sorry I'm new to the forum and didn't realize I have 2 messages in my Inbox. My bad. Thanks very much for the help. I'll post the outcome if I do use the contractors recommended.
  4. No recommendations? It does seem it's because there are NO decent and reliable contractors. *chuckles*
  5. Hi all, I live in a 20-year old 4 room HDB flat. Lately the water pipe running through my living room has been leaking and water is slowly tricking down from my ceiling. HDB has denied all responsibility, stating a precedent being my neighbour in my block encountering the same problem and footing the entire bill himself. So here I am asking if any one could recommend a reliable and fairly priced contractor? I'll need to break through the false ceiling, replace/fix the leaking pipe and cover the ceiling back up. Thanks so much!
