Contractor said that for undermount , if the sink needs to be changed, the countertop will need to be changed as well. Is that true?

Am re-doing my kitchen cabinets.

I like the look of bottom mount sink. But contractor advised against bottom mount, said to do top  mount better.

Which is better ?

I am going to re-do replace my kitchen cabinets with new ones.

Could someone tell me roughly how much would it cost for an L-shaped , approximately 15 ft lower, and 15 ft upper cabinets, including cost of dismantling and disposing  of the old one, attaching new sink and faucet (my own sink and faucet, cooker and hood) if with (a) post-form laminate top (b) solid surface?

And any reliable carpenter/ contractor to recommend?

How much is the cost per foot run for kitchen cabinet for lower half only?

Am considering whether to redo it or just change the countertop, cos the countertop is in bad condition (rotting).
