Thanks all for your reply about changing address. I have it done yesterday night. And yes, its too easy, same as 15years ago when I last change my address. I brought down my IC and thinking that they might need some proof of address, so i brought down also the Sales Order from HDB. But they do not even want to see it. You just write down the address and verify it yourself and sign, then they print and paste sticker. And yes, you can put in whatever address you like! Like what zirhk say, I really wonder if someone else put our address as theirs and use it for loan shark, and the loan shark chase the wrong people then who is that to blame?

A new question, do we need to update our address at the NPP? A check with the ICA website says we need to update within 24 days at the NPP. But I remember asking the HDB officer when we collect the keys and he says it will be automatically updated throughout the goverment bodies... Did any of you update your address please enlighten

I will be in this week and this weekend too. do drop by if you are free. you kris, i have pmed you my details. think i will move around this weekend to pay a visit to desmond, joe and you place. will you guys be around this weekend (sat/sun)? About these two insurance, i think they are about the same. Just kindoff worry about their terms and the coverage doesn't seems to be alot. But will still buy it just to have a peace of mind as well. And back to the police thingy, my wife actully saw two policemen on patrol at our floor last saturday, and she also saw them going down one floor via stairs to make their rounds. Seems like they are patrolling every floor now? hope they keep it up even if its just for 'show', at least will deter some break'in...

zirhk, well said, so the final conclusion is that our MIB is still sub-standard. ok not to side track, ya with so many construction and reno going around its a easy picking for the ill intended. And since its hard to prevent, what about buying insurance? What you guys think about the AIG and GE extra protection? to buy or not to buy and which one is better?

Actually, to be fair and compare apples with apples of the same region. Even thou i am not a friend of the MIB, in Asia itself, our MIB is already much more professional then other Asian cities. Citing one very good example when I was in Shanghai (in Hongqiao city area and not sub-urban), was in a police station (just like our NPP) to report a case of thief, the 'officer' on duty was cutting his nose hair infront of me while taking down statement!! can you even imagine that! One more encounter was in the police sub-HQ (just like our NPC) I was asked to wait outside for their ociffer to come back. After two hours, i give up and called 110 (like our 999), its only then that a police car arrive in 15 mins that i am allowed to go in. In actual fact the officer was in, just that they wanted you to wait in a hope that you will give up and leave Imagine, you have to call the police infront of a police station!? !! Don't even want to mention if you want to compare them to ASEAN countries..

I am not too familier with this NPP, but experience from other NPP tells me that these NPPs are just a waste of manpower and tax payers' money. Nowadays they don't patrol the street looking for crimes anymore but to station in the NPP waiting for telephone, walk-ins, breakfast, luch, dinner and for thieves to come in Most jobs/order/authority has been transferred to the NPC. Just my own opinion, don't flame me. However i am not really a friend of the men in blue.

Hello Zirhk, Saw your blog on the hinge too. I was visited by a 'handyman' too last saturday. But i really wonder if it will be effective just by replacing the 'big rivet' with welded bolt, as the weld can be easily chiseled off if not welded properly. Like what this handyman recommended, it will be better to attach another pair of welded hinges (with welded bolts) at least as a double protection. Anyway I also did not do what he recommends. And now that i read your post on the break-in, kindof regretted not letting him do the job and did not have his contact. Can you PM me your handyman contact too. From your blog, seems like you are doing up quite alot, good luck with your reno! Hope you dont need to deal with the troublesome garment people again. I have already moved in, do join me for a coffee or two when you are free (if you still remember my unit?)

Some of the Ikea stuff is really not that durable for things like sofa and shelves... I damaged my old sofa within a year..

Heard from a contractor that one of the flat took three weeks from HDB to approve on the hacking of walls. How long does it take you from submission to approval for the hacking of wall? Good luck with your reno and keep us posted. I hope to start my reno asap and move in asap.

mine is Yong which ID have your confirmed? are you doing any hacking? can see lah, last weekend i go see look blk 91 from blk 90, can see bangala cleaning the windows in the unit. Last time when i go see the low floor left over units in Serangoon Road, i can even see bangala uncle changing 'sarong' inside like that then got problem liao.. sikaly key ready cannot collect i will be hang by my wife if i come back too late.

accoding to my HDB officer, they will send out the loan application letter around two weeks++ (not confirmed as keys are not handed over yet) before key collection. This loan application is different from the previous one, previous one is only for checking eligibility not application. They have to check it twice due to time difference between 2nd apointment and key collection. One question i forgot to ask, is it possible for my wife to collect keys alone if I am not in town? Sakae, since your unit is over looking our blk and the playground, maybe can put a webcam for us to see the progress over internet? Sorry as siao as i may sound

I have visited 3 IDs in January, and since then have not got over my "ID/ContractorPhopbia" yet, all trying hard to make you part with the hard earned money. Finding hard to get myself to re-start talking to the ID again... the super friendly contractor below the blocks doesn't help too much with the phobia either.. May just wait until i get my keys (or at least if there is a stated date) before I start looking for them again...
